Chapter 3 - Power
CatalystJisoo woke up in the school's sick ward. She remembered nothing about how she got there and was about to lose it but her uncle grabbed onto her shoulder coaxing her back to being calm. He rubbed her back as she sniffled into his shoulder.
"There was this pain... this unexplainable pain, I do-don't know what it was," She said trying her best to forget the searing pain that was present in her forehead as if she had been hit by a truck- that was on fire. Changwook kept calming her and rubbing her back until she backed away from him by herself. "What happened?" She questioned as she was still trying to block the memory of pain from her head.
"Well, you found your power," He said with a chuckle. "Instead of it starting to appear slowly I guess that shot forced it to all come out at once. A surge in power," He said pushing his lips together and shrugging.
"What was it? And how come I don't feel any different from before?"
"You don't remember?" Jisoo shook her head."Well, your body released a wave of fire, Something, not every fire controller can do or rather, only skilled controllers can do," Changwook said as she separated herself from his embraced and grasped onto his hands to play with his fingers.
"So I control fire?"
"I guess so, but let's not think about that and just get you home okay," Changwook said as she maneuvered herself so her legs hung off of the side of the bed and her hands gripped the edge of the thin mattress. Her uncle held onto her shoulders as she took one step onto the floor. As she left the bed her legs were unable to handle the weight beneath her and so her knees buckled dropping her slightly until Changwook had replaced the grip on her shoulders to beneath her arms supporting her before she hit the floor.
Changwook placed Jisoo back onto the bed before kneeling down offering her his back. "Not a chance, people in this school already think I'm sleeping with you and now you want to carry me. On YOUR back, through the whole school," She said glaring at him.
"Yeah, pretty much," He said backing up and pulling her onto his back. She was squirming all the way to the door of the room but stopped when he opened it. Not wanting to see the stares of the people around her Jisoo buried her face into the back of her uncle before he started to walk down the hall into the main corridors of the school.
As the entered the main corridors of the school -Also the way they had to go to get to the exit- A few of the girls around Jisoo were heard gasping. She kept pressing her face further into his back and now was perfectly certain that the makeup applied that morning now resided on his pale blue dress shirt. The whispers intensified the further Jisoo had moved along the corridor. The area that was usually bursting with life and loud chatters was now just whispers and snarky comments.
The voice of some Jisoo now knew of as Jaehwan was mocking her alongside Sungwoon. The words she could make out included the words '' 'weak' and 'useless'. As they exited the main building a wave of relief was knocked over her. She felt so constricted by the judging stares of the people around her even if she couldn't see them doing so.
"Are you feeling okay?" Changwook said as he laid Jisoo down in his car adjusting the seat back to be slanted.
"Yeah, I'm fine I still feel drowsy and a bit too warm, I just wanna sleep it off,"
"Okay then," Changwook walked around to the other side of the car and got in. Jisoo didn't wake up even as they arrived at their house and to not cause her any discomfort Changwook carried her bridal style to stop her from waking up. He lay her down on the bed inside her room and placed a thin blanket on top of her rather than a thick duvet because she had said earlier she felt too warm. The door of her room was left open in case she woke up and needed him and she could shout and he could hear.
JISOO POV:
Seven boys looking down on me were sniggering between themsel
