CHAPTER III
“HELP!” Daniel and Chris had to stop after they heard a scream, much different than those strangers they have passed by and was too late to rescue them as they got bitten to the hardcore which cannot be helped. But this time around, they seems to be recognizing that screech, especially Chris, with his mind puzzling some idea that it would be someone he could have known. “Wait, doesn't that sound like your youngest teammate, Felix?” asked Daniel, landing his gaze on his companion. He can see the confusion in Chris' eyes, as they begin to move and following the direction of the voice instead of getting themselves escaped throughout the highway as they were planning to. They keep on pursuing the voice until it has faded and Daniel spot an incident right next to him that makes him pull Chris by the collar from behind to hide behind a wall. “There,” he said, pointing out at the familiar crying lad that climbs a lamp pole and trembles shakily. “He got surrounded. How should we help?” this time, it is Chris speaks up but popping a question as he got panicking when it comes to witness his own closest teammate he has been taking care of, being so scared and helpless. About to giving up anytime soon if they are not making any inch to lend a hand. Daniel, who is currently scanning on the items around, trying to assemble an idea and something report his brain. “I got a plan. Listen. I will bait them to distract their attention, so you can help him down. When I return, we should be prepared to run as fast as we can and the main road would be over there. Once he received an answer of Chris nodding his head, he strives to count to three and quickly aim for one infected on the head to crash with his crowbar then sprint off. Daniel creates noises by shouting at them to call them out and hit the crowbar against a metal railings. He has successfully draw attention when they started to vanish one by one to chase after the new meat. He brings them to run in a big circle and the consequence is to face more of them ganging up behind him. He puckers a bit of his lips to inhale and exhale the air briefly. On the other side, Chris jogs toward the lamp pole that has been claimed by a lad named Felix, who could not open his eyes anymore even though the groaning sounds has long disappeared but a bit surprised when he heard a very familiar tone. “Felix! Come down! They are gone now,” said the captain, tilting his head up to stare at the male hugging the lamp pole like a total koala. Felix soon gathers the courage to finally look down and sigh in relief to see his senior standing below him. “Okay okay, I'm coming down!” The younger slowly climb backward until he could feel his feet greeting the hard ground again. Before Chris could even pronounce a letter, Felix is already attacking him with a tightening embrace and it signals the gesture of scared. Extremely scared. The older could understand why, so he wouldn't complain and just wrap his arms back around the latter, patting his back to calm him down. “Thank yo—” It got cut off when Daniel appears from the side of the far two-st
