We Could Happen

"Ahh, sooo tiring. I wanna go home already", Jisoo exclaimed as she sweeps the endless pile of dried leaves scattered around the ground.

"Stop complaining, you . We wouldn't be here if you haven't been a dork and painted Mr. Lee's table in pink. Just what were you thinking?" Jennie retorted whilst picking up plastic bottles and gathering them in a garbage bag.

They are currently cleaning up in the campus field as a punishment for what Jisoo and Lisa did to Mr. Lee's table yesterday. What did they do, you ask? The dorks just painted their professor's whole table with pink and doodled some shapes and images all over it. Unfortunately for them, the campus dean was just in the other room and caught them red-handed. So as a punishment, they have to stay for an hour after their classes to clean the campus field.

The punishment just applies to Jisoo and Lisa, but of course, being the good friends that they are, Jennie and Chaeyoung volunteered to help. Good thing they have no classes since this week is preliminary exams week, and they just finished two exams this morning.

"That was just a little revenge for failing Jichu on her algebra last semester. And besides, a little fun won't hurt, right?" Lisa reasoned out whilst grinning.

"So this is your idea, huh?" Jennie grabs the broomstick from her bestfriend and marches towards the youngest girl, "A little fun won't hurt, but if I hit you with this broomstick, that will surely hurt, you rascal."

"Woah there! Chill, Nini. Spare the poor girl. I can't even finish sweeping these goddamn leaves, don't expect me to clean up Lisa's blood if you end up killing her", the redhead joked, earning a glare from her cat-eyed bestfriend.

"Oh my god, who's gonna kill who?! We're still young to go to jail! We still have dreams to achieve. Dear God, please forgive my friends for they don't know what they are doing....", Chaeyoung blurted not too far from them, the girl holding a garbage bag full of scrap in one hand, and a book in the other hand.

The three girls tipped their heads to look at her and gaped as they watch the girl mutter incoherent words while looking up at the sky.

"Uh Chaeng, do you use the book for sweeping?" Jisoo asked dumbly and pointed at the book on the girl's grasp.

"What?! No, unnie. I'm studying for tomorrow's exam."

"While cleaning....?"

"Yes, of course. This is called multi-tasking. Everyone should learn how to multi-task, that way we can save time and energy and...."

Don't even ask how long her preach lasted.

"Anyway...who's gonna kill who?" Chaeyoung asked innocently after finishing her mantra.

"I'm gonna kill Manoban", Jennie replied coldly, still wearing the glare intended for the youngest girl.

"Ow, no killing. Killing is bad, right, Chaeng baby?" Lisa sprinted to Chaeyoung's side and clings on her arm, "I've read that from the bible. Killing is bad."

"You read bible?" the girl asked in surprise.

"Why, of course. I know it's not obvious but I'm a religious person."

"Really? What is your favorite verse, then?"

"Uh...um", the slim girl scratches the back of her head, "Well, we can talk about it over lunch or dinner. Only if you'll give me your number", she winked whilst wiggling her eyebrows, teeth showing of in a grin.

And Jennie wanted to puke at that. She badly wants to shove the broomstick she was holding into the girl's face, and while she's thinking of other ways to kill the girl, she felt a light tug on the hem of her blouse.

She turns to her back to find Jisoo smiling apologetically at her. The girl lifts her hands and gestures an arrow shooting hearts at her. Jennie knows this is her bestfriend's way of saying 'I'm sorry' and 'Thank you for helping me'. She couldn't help but smile at that. This girl surely knows how to lift up her mood.

Jennie steps closer to Jisoo only to find herself lifting a hand up to fix the girl's fringe. No matter how annoying her bestfriend can be, it's really impossible to hate her. Jennie is whipped. She surely is.

"Dork. Don't do that again, you troublemaker", she lightly taps on the older girl's nose.

"It's fun, though. You should've seen Mr. Lee's face when he saw it-- okay, no", the dork grins widely and poses a peace sign, earning a flick in the forehead from her bestfriend.

"I'm serious, Kim Jisoo. You know how I get so worried whenever you do silly things", the girl heaved out a sigh, "When will you ever change?"

"When Dalgom turns black."

"I'll dip Dalgom in a puddle of mud."

The older girl lets out an exaggerated gasp, "That's animal abuse, Nini! Spare my poor dog."

"Dork."

Jennie's lips involuntarily jut out into a small pout and Jisoo was quick to tap a finger on it before pulling the cat-eyed girl closer, enveloping her in a side hug.

"You love this dork, though", Jisoo mumbles softly as she leans her head against the younger girl's.

And Jennie just wanted to say yes. She wanted to say she loves her. Not in a friendly nor in a sisterly way. She badly wanted to confess. But she's afraid Jisoo might not understand. Because she's just a bestfriend. And she should stay that way.

"You sound so confident, huh?" Jennie tried to sound cool.

"Of course. You so love this dork."

"I think you're imagining things", Jennie snickers and the other girl lets out a soft chuckle.

"Nini, geometry exam tomorrow."

"And....?"

"I'm bad at geometry."

"And....?"

"Tutor me?"

Jennie squinted her eyes at the grinning girl. She knows this very well. Tutoring Jisoo means sleepover. Sleepover means movie marathon. And movie marathon means not studying at all because you can't budge Jisoo when she's too engrossed in a movie.

"Pleeeeease?"

But who is Jennie Kim to decline an adorable Jisoo batting her eyelashes in a cute way whilst clinging onto her arms for dear life.

"Fine. Just don't sleep on me until you're sure you get the correct formulas", she answered though she's pretty much sure that no studying will happen.

"Yay! You're the best, Nini", Jisoo exclaimed before placing a soft kiss on Jennie's cheek.

The girl stiffens on her ground at that. This was one of the times where Jennie thinks that maybe, just maybe, they could have a chance. That maybe the older girl might have even a tiny weeny feelings for her. But who is she kidding?

"But you're a player! I saw you with two other girls in the school AVR yesterday!"

Jennie almost forgot about their two acquaintances who are now bantering in the middle of the soccer field. Chaeyoung was aiming a broomstick to Lisa who's lifting her phone, persisting on getting the girl's number.

"Those were just my classmates!! I swear! I'm a nice girl", Lisa retorted.

Suddenly, three freshmen girls passed by them and all waved to the youngest girl, obviously acting cute to get her attention.

"Hi, Lisa!"

"Text me tonight, Lisa."

"Lisa, you're not answering my calls."

Chaeyoung just stared at them whilst Jennie takes out the empty plastic bottles from the garbage bag and throws them aggressively at Lisa.

"Stay away from Chaeyoung, you rascal!"

And it was chaos until Jisoo yelled, "Do you guys want ice cream? My treat! Heh."

~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~

So the four of them ended up having ice cream after the detention hour. Yes. Including Lisa Manoban. Although Jennie and Chaeyoung were very much against the idea, Jisoo insisted to tag Lisa along with the following reasons:

1. Lisa is a foreigner and is not familiar with the area.
2. Lisa has no friends (although she has a bunch of girls).
3. Lisa and Jisoo are buddies.

They chatted for a little while, well truthfully, Chaeyoung and Jennie are the only ones exchanging talks. Lisa was busy hitting on the cashier, and Jisoo was...well, she's trying to balance the ice cream cup on her head.

Chaeyoung was the first one to head home reasoning that she still has to study for tomorrow's exams. Followed by Lisa who went to- God knows where. Jisoo and Jennie went home together as the younger girl agreed to help her bestfriend study for their geometry exam tomorrow. It was almost six in the evening when they reached the Kim's residence.

"Mommy, I'm home!" Jisoo greeted as soon as they stepped inside the house, walking straight to the kitchen where Jennie's mom is.

"Oh, Jisoo, Jennie. Just in time for dinner", Mrs. Kim greeted back while setting the table, "Are you gonna stay the night, Jiji?"

The girl nodded before making herself comfortable in the dinning table, "We're gonna study for the exams, mommy. What did you cook? It smells nice."

Jennie was tailing behind and bites back a smile at the sight. She likes how her bestfriend calls her mom 'mommy' and how she was treated like their own family. She could definitely get used to this.

"It's just her excuse so she can watch netflix, mom", Jennie said playfully as she settles beside Jisoo.

"Nooooo, mommy. Don't listen to Nini. She's the one who's so obsessed with netflix", the redhead retorted whilst poking out a tongue at the other girl.

Mrs. Kim just chuckled as she placed a pot on the table, "Aigoo, have you already texted your mom, though?"

"Yes, mommy."

"Good. Now let's eat."

The conversation was lively while they were having dinner, thanks to Jisoo's lame jokes. Jennie couldn't help but steal glances at the girl and finds herself laughing with her. Moments like this are already usual to them but this is the first time that she gets to appreciate Jisoo's closeness to her family. Everything was almost perfect. If only they could happen.

The two girls helped in washing the dishes after eating then went to Jennie's room to wash up. The latter was already on bed preparing their reviewer when Jisoo stepped out of the bathroom, wearing the spare violet pyjamas of her bestfriend.

The brunette stares at her dumbly before speaking, "You look like an eggplant", then bursts into laughter.

The redhead snickers and charges towards Jennie, hovering over the latter before engaging in a tickle fight.

"Eggplant, huh? As if you don't look like a banana in that yellow pyjamas", Jisoo continued poking the girl's tummy and Jennie was a laughing mess.

"Yaaah! I- Kim Jisoo I'll kick your out of here if you don't sto-- yaaah!"

Jennie gasps in surprise as Jisoo flipped them over, making her hover the older girl. Jisoo's hands were protectively clasped around her waist while her own rested on both sides of Jisoo's head.

Their faces were so close that she couldn't hide a blush. The redhead was saying something while giggling but she couldn't focus. She takes her time and lets her eyes admire Jisoo's facade. From her perfectly shaped eyebrows that matched those beautiful brown orbs, to the tall bridge of her nose, and those lips- those inviting pair of plump lips that she's been wondering how it's like kissing.

She was so flawless in Jennie's eyes, and in that moment, she forgot how to breathe.

Breathtaking. That's what Jisoo is to Jennie.

"Beautiful", she mumbled absentmindedly, but the older heard it clearly.

"I know that very well. You're not bad yourself, Nini", Jisoo answered whilst grinning.

That snapped Jennie out of her trance and lightly slapped her bestfriend's shoulder before sitting up properly, a faint tint of pink still visible on her cheeks.

"Dork. We should be studying, you know?" she tried to play it cool again.

"Can we watch a movie after studying? Heh-"

Jennie knew it.

~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~ • ~

After hours of explaining what formula to use in different equations and how it works with polygons, Jisoo finally got it and did a little chicken dance when she answered Jennie's sample test correctly.

And as promised, they watched a movie together after studying. Jisoo was so hyped about watching Maze Runner but Jennie insisted that they watch The Fault In Our Stars. The redhead even called her hopeless romantic, but in the end, they still watched it.

Jennie's laptop was laid on the bed at their feet whilst they snuggle under the warm sheets. The movie was close to the ending and the brunette has bawled her eyes out in tears when Jisoo suddenly speaks.

"Why are people so keen on finding romantic love?"

Jennie was taken aback and turns her head to glance at her bestfriend, "Because eventually, we'll need someone who will make us laugh when we are sad. Who will stay with us through ups and downs. Who will teach us how to love and feel loved in return", she paused to ponder, "Someone who makes everything better. And someone who makes us feel complete."

"Is that how love works?" Jisoo asked innocently.

"In some way, yes."

"Then I wouldn't need to find one."

"Why not?"

"I already have you."

Jennie freezes at the answer and before she could react, she felt a weight on her right shoulder. She tipped her head and finds that Jisoo has fallen asleep.

Something stirrs in her stomach. She couldn't quite figure out, but it felt good. She didn't know a four-word sentence could make her feel things she's never felt before. And Jisoo did this to her. If she's still not inlove with the girl before, well she surely is now.

Damn Kim Jisoo.

She carefully laid the sleeping girl comfortably in bed and closes her laptop, setting it aside before creeping back under the sheets beside the older girl. She brushes her hair and kisses her forehead softly before falling into her own slumber.

"Goodnight, Jisoo."
