Things had never been awkward between Irene and Yeri. They always had stuff to talk about, jokes to make and embraces to share. With promotions coming up for their new song, this would be increasingly important and for some strange reason, Irene was nervous. As the group's leader, she always worried about their image, her members and their fans. This time felt completely new. Yeri turned to her and smiled from her spot backstage, looking so happy with her life. Looking so happy that Irene was in it. As the lights dimmed, Joohyun could hear the crowd hushing, waiting to greet Red Velvet with their loudest and most heartfelt cheers. In these magical moments that seemed so strangely intimate, it scared her how much she was in love. How much she loved her job, her members and her life. How much she wished it would never come to an end. How much she wished the five of them could stay in those moments forever. Maybe that was why she never let herself dwell on the possibilty of love. Bae Joohyun knew what being in love was like and she knew what it meant. She was just scared to have to let go in the end.
