D.O.T.S : Destruction Of The Soul : Awake at last

Description

Kayren Hakichima was a military man. He fought for peace more than anything else and, after an unfortunate event involving his best friend and a large minefield, he found it. After 10 years in a comba he awoke to find himself in a fresh new world, much different from the termoil of his time. Of course some things never change. Kayren, now chased by enemies of his past, must dissapear seemlessly into the rabble of the modern world or risk losing his battle for peace to gain his own life back.

Foreword

Explosions rang bells through Kayren's ears as he sprinted across a muddy battlefield. Machine gun fire tore through the air like needles through paper, filling the air  with fear. However, thi didn't hinder Kayren in his charge towards his target. He had watched as his best friend Doku bravely take down half a trenches worth of enemy forces before taking point blank shots to his chest. He tumbled to the ground and was now crawling to a safe spot, determined to die fighting. Kayren wasn't going to let this happen to Doku, he was to young for death and had a girl waiting for him back home. As Kayren reached Doku, a hail of fire rained down behind them, cutting off their escape route and leaving only the path across the minefield open. Kayren threw Doku over his shoulder and ran across the mud, hoping he was lucky enough to dodge the mines and get to safety in one peice. Doku was now mumbling out his final words, he didn't think he would make it and was telling Kayren to leave him and get out alive. Kayren was even more determined to get them both out of this mess. But then it happened, he ran too far off the safe path and activated 2 proximity mines. There was a flash of bright white light and a sudden silence as the two soldiers were lifted high into the air. A few seconds later, everything went black. It stayed like that for what seemed like a few minutes. Then the world came rushing back, hitting Kayren like a sledgehammer to the face. He was still alive, but not blind, not deaf, not in pain like a few moments before. All he could tell was that he was lying down with something strapped to his face and his limbs bound tight to the frame of a bed. Doku was nowhere to be seen.
