One-shot

Fate

In the middle of the park, during a bright Christmas day, Yuto sees her sitting at a bench, waiting patiently with a smile. Nostalgia rushes through his as he continues to gaze at her and that smile he once was in love with. There is no such animosity between them, however, he knew he would not be able to bring himself to say hello to her. How long has it been since he's laid his eyes on her? Oh, he could remember so vaguely, it was hard, but it had to happen: the day he met her and the day she left him.

...

About two years ago, Yuto was rushing past people through the streets of Shibuya during the early afternoon of spring. He was late, again, to band practice. Fate has a cliche way for two people to meet, because as Yuto opened the door to the studio where he would me his band, he had come face to face with the one he was meant to be with, but not forever. Her hand was outstretched for the door itself and the two of them just stared at each other. Time didn't slow down for either of them and they quickly excused each other shyly before they went their separate ways again.

Fate would not allow them to separate so quickly. He wanted to play. Yuto had gone with his bandmates one day to a local pizza joint nearby the studio, again, as Yuto reached for the door and opens it, he comes face to face with that same girl, and on mark, Fate tells Time to slow down. She smiled shyly at him, "Oh, hi, again," Yuto couldn't help but blush, he was not one to talk to girls very easily. His friend Ryosuke looked between the two, and nudged Yuto on the side.

"Aren't you going to introduce us?" Ryosuke asked Yuto, who was still trying to recover from his heated face.

"I don't actually know her," Yuto muttered and the girl shook her head as well, "it's just, well, this kind of thing happened earlier," Ryosuke smirked at his friend.

"Oh, earlier," she said softly, "I was reaching for the door and he opened it," the girl explained and Yuri, another friend and bandmate, began to snicker.

"Wow, I didn't know you were such a gentleman, Yutorin," Yuto's bandmates began to snicker and Yuto felt like his face would melt right off.

"W-Well," the girl said, her voice a lot softer now, "there's nothing wrong with that," and just like that she walked away quickly a few of her friends following after her as Yuto couldn't help but stare, his bandmates then continued to , but he didn't mind.

After that incident, they would continue to meet again and again, all coincidences and finally realizing their fate, they exchanged numbers. He would call her every night and talk until he would hear her light snore, to which he would send a: "your snore is cute" message to her and she would shyly tell him to shut up.

They grew closer as the months and weeks went by, until Yuto finally got the nerve to ask her out, of course, she said yes. Nearly everyday they spend their time together doing whatever they wanted, and when they weren't together, they would be texting. When it came to Yuto's practices, knowing texting would be a distraction, she would show up and watch them. Ryosuke would yell at Yuto a few times, telling him to stop being nervous around her and to start having a straight mind.

They were always so happy together, so in love, nothing could have torn them apart. Except Time and Fate.

Eventually, she had begun to be a little boring towards Yuto, and he would notice she would smile more around other people then him. Yuri had told him to break it off with her, and tensions were rising between him and Yuri, so what started out as an argument, turned into a fight, and eventually the band disbanded.

She had done nothing to comfort him, and only told him she was sorry and moved on with her life. She started hanging out with her friends more and would ignore all his calls and messages. He knew they were going to end soon, however, he didn't think it would have hurt the way it did.

"Let's break up," she said slowly to him, as if he were a child. They were sitting at a bench, and she had her hands on her lap. Not even trembling, like there really no remorse for what she had said, she had fallen so much out of love. Yuto almost remained speechless, but somewhere, while he was with her, he did get some backbone.

"Yeah," he had muttered, trying not to cry, "it's for the best," with that, she said good bye to him, and left him alone at the bench. Until it was finally late at night and no one was walking. He cried, cried for the heart he almost gave completely to her.

...

She looks up when a male voice calls her name and she runs up to him, hugging him tightly. Yuto remembers him as one of her friends when they met for the second time. For some reason, this boy looks around before dipping his head to give her a sweet kiss and shyly takes her hand, and she leans her head on his arm and they walk away, to wherever they want to go. Yuto gives a small smile looking up at the black sky as it drops small snowflakes to ground. "Yuto!" A high female voice calls his name and he gives her a big grin, as she runs up to him and hugs him tightly, burrying her face in his chest. "It's so cold!" She yells, looking up at him as if bewildered, he can't help but laugh.

"You should have bundled up more, Machi!" Yuto tells her, taking off his own coat, wrapping it around her, immediately noticing her blush.

"Now, you're gonna be cold!" Machi yells at him, that bewildered look remaining, Yuto laughs and shakes his head, wrapping his arms around her.

"Not if I'm like this!" He explains to her, but she pouts up at him, her hands clutching the front of his shirt.

"But we can't walk around hugging each other!" Her face turns immediately red and she covers her face in his jacket, for some reason, she's embarassed, "it's indecent!" Yuto laughs again, petting her hair lovingly.

"I think you've been reading too many mature shoujo mangas," Yuto says loudly, a few heads turn their way and her grip on him tightens.

"Leave me alone! They'll make me more lady like!" Machi makes her point. Yuto rolls his eyes and takes her hand to lead her to a promised dinner.

"I'm pretty sure it's not lady like for a girl to read that kind of stuff," Yuto laughs as Machi whines to him to keep his voice down. Looking back at Machi he smiles at her, not the way he once smiled at his old lover. But the one specifically for Machi. Yuto pulls her close to him, one hand wrapped around her waist, the other on her cold cheek that is starting to warm up from his touch, "Machi," begins, pushing away some of her bangs off her face, "there might be a time where we'll fight, and we'll both feel like giving up on each other," Machi's eyes soften, but they turn confused, "just know that, I never will," Yuto kisses her forehead, "I will do whatever I can to make this work," he kisses the tip of her nose.

"But what if one us really falls out of love?" Machi asks, eyes still boring into his. Yuto smiles at her again.

"Then, we'll do whatever we can, to make the other fall in love again," this time, his lips meet hers, people around them whisper, either of jealousy or of joy. Whatever it is, Fate has more plans for Yuto and Machi.
