Ep. 3 — Days to remember

Soulmate

Ep. 3Days to remember

D-23

After Seulgi’s not so subtle growl, Irene decided to make a dinner for both of them—eliciting a happy grin from the other party.

“Seulgi-yah, can you please check the water? I think it has boiled enough…” Irene mumbled as she got a hold of the sizzling pan after giving the right amount of seasoning into the dishes. She began to stir it with her wooden spatula in a deep concentration while Seulgi moved stealthily beside her to do the given task.

“Yes it is. I will start putting the noodle in, is it okay?” The younger girl pointed at the boiled water and got Irene’s affirmative nod in response. “Yup.”

The brunette glanced at Seulgi and watched her putting the noodle with a serious face, as if she was doing some nation’s bidding at that very moment. Irene bit her lower lip to stop herself from chuckling, she decided to break the stillness between them, “Do you often cook for yourself? Or for your members?”

“Yeah… kind of, but well ramyun is what we usually cook though.” Seulgi brought her gaze to meet Irene, a sheepish grin was plastered. “Our cooking skills are very limited. Well, we all are except Wendy though she calls dibs for baking. So on daily basis, we rely on takeaway food pretty often.”

“Oh gosh, I couldn’t imagine how much your whole group expense for one meal only. I bet it’s pretty expensive.”

“That’s exactly what our managers are saying whenever they see these bills. They even told us to start taking a cooking class when we have free time.” Irene laughed and Seulgi did join her as well, feeling a bit embarrassed by her actual skill. “Now, that I think of it. I really need to take that class for real.”

“You sure are.”

Irene reached for a spoon and brought her focus back to their dinner when their laughter had died into another comfortable silence. She then scooped some of her cooked dishes with a small spoon and blew on it to get rid of the steam.

She turned her body at Seulgi to see her munching on the uncooked ramyun. The latter, however, stopped eating the said food when she felt Irene’s stare directed at her. She awkwardly put the rest of the noodles in the boiling water. “I was checking whether the noodle was still good or not, heh.”

Irene shook her head at her lame excuse and lifted her spoon for her to taste. “Here, have a taste.”

“Do you want me to taste it?”

The brunette wordlessly nodded, beckoning her to eat it faster. Irene put her other hand under her offering hand, preventing the so called food from spilling out.

“How is it?” She asked when Seulgi had chewed the offered food, hand was back to stir their ramyun.

“It iws pewfek.”

Seulgi replied with tteokbokki fully stuffed inside , sending Irene to laugh freely at her. “Oh my, Seulgi! Don’t speak when your mouth is full!”

All the while through their dinner preparation, Irene couldn’t help but watch her companion with a growing smile. Seulgi looked happy to help her prepare everything and she knew for sure that she had enjoyed her companion as well. She had accustomed to living alone for a while now, so it was actually a good change to have another presence there to accompany her. Seulgi was really helpful, making their task seem to be bearable and the time had surely fled fast whenever they were together, she didn’t feel bored at all.

And Irene felt like she had reached her limit to stretch her own lips up into a smile, but it proved her wrong. She was still smiling widely and it scared her. What have you done to me, huh?

Both of them were sitting on the floor, a small folded table was before them with their dinner placed neatly on it. The television was on but neither of them paying any attention to it. One was utterly devoted herself to finish their food and another one didn’t find anything more entertaining than her companion. She observed how eager Seulgi was with a delight.

“You really eat well, don’t you?”

Seulgi lifted her eyes from the steaming ramyun and bobbed her head excitedly, was full with food, making her cheeks look bigger and resemble an adorable animal. Irene stopped reaching for her tteokbokki as she witnessed the sight and laughed heartily. “Slowdown will you? I couldn’t finish it either. You might eat it all by yourself in the end though.”

The woman in hair-bun only hummed a happy song while filling her plate with another piece of tteokbokki. The latter even found occasionally slurping on her ramyun which leaving Irene to stare in amusement.

“Have you competed with your members whenever you guys eat? Or is it really your habit to eat at a fast pace?”

“Well, we don’t compete with each other. As a matter of fact, eating is the only time when all of us become oddly silent.” Seulgi answered, still in her full mouth and the other woman immediately reprimanded her not to. She sheepishly bowed her head and chewed her food properly. “I’m not a fast eater though I do eat a lot. And I think my pace in eating depends on how my mood is going. I figured out that I tend to eat fast as I get excited.”

That set Irene to wear a peculiar playful smile on her face—another chance of teasing her shouldn’t be missed. She had left her favorite dish untouched and couldn’t be careless if Seulgi took it as her permission to finish all their dinner. “So, you’re excited now? By what? The food or your companion?”

The all too familiar sight unfolded before her eyes when Seulgi suddenly choked on her food. Complete with flapping hand gesture, Seulgi was indeed desperate to get a glass of water. Irene poured her a glass of water and gave it to the one in need. “I told you.”

The red faced girl quickly drank her water and jutted down her lips the moment she regained her composure. Irene was looking at her with a knowing look. “Why did you always see me in a miserable state?”

“What miserable?”

“You watched me two times in life-threatening incidents.”

“It’s your own fault. I’ve warned you earlier.” Irene commented shortly and Seulgi only replied with a loud, “Humph!

She shook her head in disbelief when the latter started to eat again. “I thought you were traumatized?”

“I don’t want it to get wasted though.” Seulgi muttered as she picked her chopsticks. Irene could only wonder how much Seulgi’s stomach capacity was to be able eating non-stop like that. “What’s your favorite food?”

“I like all kinds of food, so there are so many menus that I would like to deem as my favorite ones. But if it’s something that I frequently have eaten, sushi, fried dumpling and ramyun are my top three. Though to be honest, as long as it’s edible I think any kind of food is fine by me.”

“Wow… your mom must be happy as you know she can feed you with anything and you won’t even refuse.”

“Uh… I do a bit picky when it comes to vegetable though.”

“Even until now?” Irene asked and Seulgi replied with an awkward “Yeah,” before shoving herself with another bite of tteokbokki. The older found her indirect declaration of hating the said food to be ridiculously funny. “But you like sushi right? It has vegetables inside it.”

“I can always order my sushi without ones though.” Seulgi referred to the vegetables and shrugged to herself. “It’s all good.”

“You’re spoiled.”

“That’s called a preference, sunbaenim.”

“No, you clearly hate it. I’ll make sure to cook you a lot of vegetables from now on.”

Seulgi nearly dropped her chopsticks inside the pot contained with their ramyun. Her heart almost smelted at the thought of the other girl cooking for her, but paused as she caught on her last words. Vegetables

She wore a frightened look on her face as her brain finally worked—it finally came to a realization. Her worst nightmare tasted so real this time around with the help of Irene’s deliberate suggestion. “Don’t please. I beg you, unnie.”

“You need to consume some vegetables Seulgi. Don’t avoid eating it like a kid.”

“I eat onion and seaweed that’s enough. I’ve enough vegetable supply.” Seulgi quickly stated before Irene could respond. Hoping that she could change their topic, she opted to ask the other girl the same thrown question. “What’s your favorite food anyway?”

Irene pointed at the plate of tteokbokki across her and smiled when their eyes met. “And patbingsoo.”

“Huh, but I don’t see you eat it as much as I do though? I think I was the one eating nearly half amount of your tteokbokki.”

“You seem hungry.”

“You could always tell me to stop though.”

Irene beamed when she saw a guilty look started to appear on her companion’s face. “Nah, I’m okay with watching you eat it. I’m full already.”

“It doesn’t make me feel any better.”

“I’m on diet.”

“Dang,” Seulgi stopped munching and Irene tried her best to halt herself from bursting out in a full laughter. “That’s even worse. I start to have some doubt, who is the actual member of girl group between us again? Why do I keep on eating endlessly?”

“Well, can’t help yourself because my cooking is that good right?”

Seulgi gave a playful look, though she couldn’t deny that Irene was indeed really good at cooking. “You are confident.”

“I’m confident with my home skills. I can cook, I can do my own laundry, you name it. Being a homebody has its own benefit though.” Irene proudly listed her capability and almost ruined herself with another uncharacteristic high pitched laugh when Seulgi replied with, “Are you promoting yourself now? You seem ready to get married soon.”

She then tilted her head as she watched Seulgi eating, something came inside her mind. “I can teach you.”

“What?”

“We could make it like, Upgrading your skills 101 kind of project.” Irene stated with a grin and Seulgi could only stare back at her with mouth agape. “You sure have a lot of idea.”

“I have great ideas.”

Seulgi’s eating pace was getting slower as she looked at how happy Irene now. She shoved another food to stop herself from smiling creepily at the older girl. Because believe it or not, Seulgi was just as happy as Irene right now.

They both resumed eating until Irene decided to strike another conversation again. “Have you checked the room?”

Seulgi lifted her head and shook it, was filled with another tteokbokki.

“Ah… you know, do you mind if we…” Irene trailed looking a bit hesitant. “…share a room?”

It made Seulgi stop chewing. She quickly swallowed her food and asked, “This house is pretty big, why do we need to share a room?”

“Apparently this house only has two bedrooms and another one is already occupied with the staffs.” Irene explained more and got the understanding nod from her companion. Seulgi continued to put another food inside her plate. “It’s fine as long as we get an extra-bed.”

“Uh… I think they’ve planned this. Sadly, there’s no extra-bed, only a king size of bed in our room.”

Seulgi nearly lost the grip on her utensils after hearing that information.

“Do you mind?” Irene probed as she saw her staring in shock. “I can always use c-”

“I don’t mind sharing!” The younger girl squeaked in a high note at the very last. Almost went out of tone, but Seulgi paid no care. The thought of Irene sleeping on the couch was so inhuman— she deserved the best place they could afford. Seulgi watched Irene’s lips curving into a bright smile and she could feel her face flushing in a red color. “Uh… if you don’t mind either?”

“I don’t mind sharing.” Irene giggled, sending the tingling sensation in her stomach whenever she got to hear her laughing because of her. Seulgi really did not mind in the slightest. Sharing is caring right?

“Seul…”

Seulgi brought her vision to meet Wendy’s concern gaze. She mouthed back weakly, “What?”

“Why did you look like you don’t get any sleep at all?”

The younger girl pulled herself to sit beside her on their couch. Both of them were currently free from any schedule this afternoon and decided to just rest on their dorm instead. “Did you filming until midnight?”

The person in question shook her head feebly. “No to your second question, but definitely yes to the former one.”  She sighed and Wendy’s look didn’t change. “Then why are you lacking any sleep?”

Seulgi palmed her face while mumbling, “Me and Irene unnie are sharing the same bed.”

Wendy raised one of her brows. “And so us, though yeah rarely. What’s the difference?”

“That’s a completely different case!” Seulgi dropped her palms and shrieked. “This is Irene unnie we’re talking about, The Bae Irene.”

“You’re talking nonsense now.” Wendy responded with no interest. “If you aren’t going to tell me, then I’ll go ask Irene unnie by myself.” She threatened and Seulgi groaned in response. “Am I really your leader?”

“I’m waiting,”

The older girl sighed. “She was hugging me while we slept last night.” Seulgi’s face was turning red at those evoked memories. She yelped, voice raised in an octave. “I couldn’t even bat an eye, let alone moving any muscle to free myself. There happy?”

Seulgi turned to look at Wendy when she heard no response coming from her. There, the said girl was trying her best to hold in her laughter. “YAH!”

“What a way to lose your precious sleep.” The brown haired girl, even cried at how funny her friend’s story was. She wiped some tears from the corner of her eyes before asking, “And let me guess, Irene unnie doesn’t realize it? She says nothing about it this morning? Regarding your so called last night accident?”

She watched Seulgi nodding and it was all it took for Wendy to burst into a laughter, for real this time—leaving Seulgi to scowl at her back in disbelief. “And here you’re telling me that you’re my best ever friend.”

“Stop grunting.”

Irene ignored his word and started to stab on her food harder, making their table shake for a bit at how strong her strength was. She was in a very bad mood after her supposed schedule with Seulgi got rescheduled at the last minute that day—some of her scenes in the drama had to be retaken due to the PD’s personal taste. The sad part was, it barely had her part in that particular scene, yet there she was waiting inside a café near their filming set.

“Can’t they use a cameo instead of me?” She uttered under her breath, observing her manager undeterred look. “Oppa please do something?”

“Irene, we have to be professional. You’ve taken on a contract with the drama first before your show with Seulgi-ssi, which is slightly flexible.” He tried to explain earnestly, getting the look of bored Irene. He watched her still supporting the sulking face and smiled. “I remembered you refusing the idea of joining that show though. What’s with the sudden change?”

“Is it because your partner? Seulgi-ssi?” He probed further. “Is it?”

Irene looked away, hiding her smile which threatened to break at the mention of that particular person. She didn’t respond to his question and yet it only made her manager nodding in all seriousness. “The air is thick.”

He shrugged when Irene turned to glare at him. “What? Go ask her out for real if you’re that desper-”

Her manager shut his mouth close when a bundle of napkins landed straight inside. He narrowly looked back after spitting the unwanted thing out of his mouth. “You!”

Irene only responded with her fist tightly lifted in the air. “Serve you right.”

She briefly knocked on the door surface and pushed it open only to see a very familiar face welcoming her. “Welcome!”

“What are you doing here, Sooyoung-ah?” Seulgi blinked in confusion as she felt being ushered to go inside by the taller girl. She looked around, assuring herself that she was still in their house and not magically brought back to their dorm by Joy’s presence. “You told me that you have a schedule earlier! You even rejected my idea of us eating together!”

“I have a schedule as a matter of fact.” Joy casually shrugged. She gestured at the grinning duos in the living room when both of them had stopped walking. “And those two as well,”

“Welcome home!”

Seulgi spun her head to see the rest of her members sitting on the carpeted floor—various ordered foods were there on their makeshift table, ready to be eaten. Joy playfully patted her on the back and walked past her to join Wendy and Yeri. She still rooted in her place, brain was still having a hard time to process their sudden presence in her house. “What is this?”

“Your members are visiting us. How sweet of them right?” Irene said while bringing a huge bottle of coke with one hand from their kitchen. She approached the stunned figure and pulled her to join them on the floor. Seulgi couldn’t help herself from staring at their members in disbelief and then at the person beside her. “B-but…for what?”

“For free food!”

Wendy shouted and Seulgi shot a glare in return. “You aren’t any better! Why didn’t you tell me earlier that you guys wanted to visit me here? We could go together with one car!”

“Hojin oppa and Sadness unnie were having a bet over who’s the fastest one to come here. And by the look of it, we have clearly got the answer right?” Yeri commented on behalf of her unnie and laughed when she saw her leader’s shocked expression. “Hoojin oppa won!”

“That was it! Never in my life had I seen Sadness unnie going over sixty. She shocked me for real.” Seulgi frowned at them. “So, you guys were behind it?”

“We didn’t actually rush over here though, Sadness unnie was taking the furthest route so we could get here faster than you.” Wendy chuckled, the rest of the members were nodding along at her explanation. “Yerim was joking earlier. We even reminded Hojin oppa not to go overboard and drive safely.”

“Fiuh… I thought it was really happening. That would be very dangerous.” Seulgi was now able to smile widely back at them. “I’m happy to see you guys here.”

“We are here to see Irene unnie though.” Joy sassily replied, making Irene chuckle at her remark. “Thank you Joy, but I think Seulgi here is not amused to hear that.”

“Let her be, unnie. We’re used to her no jam self.”

“We will be eating now!” Seulgi quickly announced and started to stuff herself with some food, making everyone inside the room laughed at her obvious sulk.

—◙—

“What are you doing here? Go help Irene unnie!”

Seulgi felt herself being pushed off the couch and rose up to throw a pillow in Joy’s direction. She had just got ditched from her territory and she couldn’t help but stare in disbelief at the intruder of her peaceful time. “And what are you doing here? Go home now!”

“We will later.” Joy shifted to occupy the rest of the surface, making sure that there would be no space left so Seulgi couldn’t sit on it and didn’t have any choice but to help Irene in the kitchen. “So, go help Irene unnie now.”

“I have asked her for any help but she said she could do it just fine. Yerim and Seungwan are already there so there’s no need for another presence in the kitchen.” Seulgi laid her body on the carpeted floor and casually surfed through channel after channel of the television. Joy rolled her eyes and crouched down to snatch the remote out of Seulgi’s lazy grip.

“Hey!”

“Listen to me dense person. When a girl says no, it’s actually meant the opposite one. So, go help her!”

“But I’m a girl myself! When I say no, it would still mean no.” Seulgi defended herself, looking unwilling to move anymore from her current place.

“You’re an exception.” Joy glared at her before leaning on her back again. “It doesn’t count.”

“What’s with this mistreatment? Throughout the dinner, you guys treated me wrongly and made it look as if Irene unnie is your leader and not me!” Seulgi grumpily stood up and returned her glare. “How unfair!”

She said before stomping her way towards the kitchen and Joy could only snicker in silence at her successful plan to get them closer.

—◙—

“What are you doing there, Seul?”

Seulgi stood rather awkwardly, she didn’t even fully enter the room yet, but Wendy was managed to stop her from going further—by asking her presence again in the kitchen for two times in a row. “It’s okay, we’re almost done here.”

Irene’s stare also fell in her direction with one of her eyebrows raised.

I hate you Sooyoung. “Ice creams uh…  you guys can go eat some ice creams.”

She began to take some small bowls from the cupboard and set it on the counter. She signaled Yeri to get the said ice creams from their fridge. Yeri brought it towards her without much word, though she didn’t miss the suspicious look on the maknae’s face when the latter handed her the big tube filled with ice creams. Seulgi quickly scooped it to those bowls, before giving it to her members. “Take it with you guys.”

Wendy and Yeri swiftly exchanged looks, making Seulgi look a bit embarrassed by how they responded much later. “Okay. You can always tell us that you want to be alone with unnie though.”

Wendy replied as she discharged her apron and made her way out of the room after taking the food and bidding her goodbye at Irene, meanwhile Yeri was laughing at the back, she managed to pat her oldest unnie on the shoulder as she walked past her. “Good luck.”

Seulgi could only stay motionless at her place. Her members could be a pain in the at times.

“Just ignore them.” She was able to at least talk despite being malfunctioned for a full minute by her members’ stunt. Seulgi started to walk and stopped just beside her busy partner.

“I told you that it’s fine. You can join them eating those ice creams as well.” Irene responded slowly, she glanced at the still figure beside her and smiled while scrubbing their dirty plates. “I don’t really mind. They missed you.”

“We’ve already met whenever we went to practice.” Seulgi quietly wore the discharged apron and reached for the bubble covered utensils. She started to rinse it under the running water. “I doubt they even miss me.”

“You know they do.”

Seulgi chuckled as she arranged the clean plates. She took a small towel and processed to wipe the rest of the plates dry. “You seem to like them.”

“Yeah,” Irene responded with a small smile. It actually felt good to have other friends around and she had just realized it after meeting them. “They are pretty cool.”

“It seems like, they like you too. They even considered replacing me with you over free foods!” Seulgi shook her head. “I don’t think I can understand them.”

“Oh my God!” Irene stopped cleaning and faced Seulgi’s direction. She couldn’t contain her own wide smile, “For real?”

“Yeah.”

“That’s a relief then.” Irene quietly turned to continue her task, all the while smiling to herself at the new achievement she recently got. “I was afraid at first... I thought they won’t like me.”

“Why?” Seulgi couldn’t help but ask. She stopped wiping the dishes and observed her older companion. “Just because they are my members, you shouldn’t feel obligated to befriend each of them.”

“I do want to, your members are sweet and kind. Thanks for introducing me to them.” Irene beamed at her.

“They are not sweet. They are loud and noisy and the list goes down.”

Seulgi muttered under her breath, though it didn’t erase the wide smile from her lips either.

“So, how’s life as a newlywed couple? Does Irene unnie find you boring yet?”

Seulgi, who was in the middle of drinking her water immediately shot a threatening glare at the all smiling Joy. She used all her willpower to stay unaffected and just gulped down the much needed water. They were currently taking a break after dancing for hours, practicing for their upcoming long-awaited first concert. She thanked the God silently as it was just the two of them who were sitting cross-legged on the floor in this spacious practice room. The rest of her members, Yeri and Wendy were going down to buy something while the dance crews were outside, doing their business before it was their time to practice again.

She closed the lid of her bottle and processed to slouch down on the floor, the cold bottle already placed on her forehead to cool her rising heat. Joy copied her move and began to lie down beside her, she only eyed her back.

“Silence means yes, you know.”

The older girl averted her gaze at the ceiling. “Who says I am boring?”

“Me.”

“Ha, that’s very kind of you.” Seulgi retorted with an uninterested look. “And for your information, we’re not a newlywed.”

“But you look like one! I swear!” Joy rose to her sitting position and stared at her. “I told you, your show has like 98% vibes of WSGM!”

“For someone who had whined for not having any energy left in the past five hours,” Seulgi watched through the corner of her eye. “You sure have a lot of energy to talk.”

“Gasp!” Joy looked at her with wide eyes. “Since when did you turn sarcastic?” The taller girl even checked her temperature and grimaced at how sticky her hand became after doing so. “Ew!”

“Serve you right.”

“But I’m seriously asking you, unnie.”

“And so do I.” Seulgi’s eyes fluttered close and she placed her hands above her stomach in a pure bliss, responding Joy’s question with sarcasm was the best choice she had done so far. She opted to remain impassive with every thrown query coming from Joy, who seemed excited with her new life.

“You look happy.”

She opened one of her eyes and observed her companion. Joy was keeping her gaze straight-ahead and not meeting her. “I’m always like this though.”

The blonde girl smiled and brought her gaze down to meet her. “But you look happier now.”

“Are you high, Sooyoung-ah?” One of Seulgi’s brows was raised. She reached for the bottle on her temple and placed it down beside her. Feeling rather curious with her member’s weird answer, the older girl decided to put a stop from her initial plan of ignoring her. She got off from her current lying position and sat straight to join Joy. “What happened to you? Are you alright?”

Joy chuckled and shook her head. She leaned back with arms to support her body—her gaze profoundly planted on the mirror across them. “Nothing, I just thought about it recently.”

“What does it mean?” Seulgi was officially lost. “What kind of thought that bothers you recently?”

“I envy you, unnie.” Joy exhaled slowly and dropped her head lower. “I want to have the same thing as yours.”

Seulgi tilted her head in response and Joy happened to catch her silent question. “You’ve met your own pair and I can clearly see it in your eyes. You look happier compared to your old self.”

“You,” Their gaze met in the mirror and Joy beamed beautifully at her, she felt happy for the older girl. Someone she adored the most despite being the one she always teased, it was just her way to show how much she loved the other figure. “You’ve found love.”

Am I?

With mouth still gaping at her, the leader blinked back at her with a hazy look.

Seulgi really didn’t expect to hear it coming from Joy, the most outspoken, outgoing, and cheerful person among the rest of her members. The one who apparently wore her heart on the sleeves as well. Seulgi let the silence ensued and paid her full attention to hear more of Joy’s thought. She figured out that it would be better for the other girl to speak out and tell her everything that bothered her, rather than cutting her off amidst her vulnerable moment.

Sometimes, all of people with a hard time needs is a companion and ear that listen to their story well enough to feel a bit better. She learned this from someone who by now was probably doing her drama filming—Seulgi hoped that Irene didn’t have any outside scene though. That petite woman could be frozen in this kind of weather and it didn’t settle well with her thought. She had to text her later.

Joy’s soft touch on her shoulder had successfully brought her back from her trance. “You okay?”

“I get it that I like to spend my time with her. I might like her at some point,” Seulgi furrowed her brows in a deep thought. “But love? That’s a bit…too fast?” Their gazes met and Joy only shrugged her shoulder before pushing herself up. The latter was still smiling though.

“That’s for you to figure out, unnie.” Joy grinned, gingerly staring down at her. “But you got my point right?”

Seulgi nodded dumbly and felt herself being pulled up by those outstretched hands much later. The younger girl was linking their arms together, as they progressed to walking out their practice room. “I, again, hate to admit it, but it’s been a while since we spend our free time together. So, I kind of missed it.” Joy with her poker face was something that amused Seulgi. She would let this slip and enjoy their time together. She had plenty time to though.

“And besides, I think Yerim has something up. We should head down as well.”

Seulgi quietly agreed as Wendy’s words were ringing up inside her mind—at the day when her first schedule was over, regarding Irene. Seulgi couldn’t help but miss the particular petite figure inwardly.

The night was still young after Seulgi’s first encounter with Irene for their reality show.

She couldn’t even rest her eyes. It was still vivid, she couldn’t believe her fate.

“It was Irene unnie…”

Seulgi mumbled out loud while looking straight at the ceiling, she knew her roommate was still up and probably wanted to know how her day was going.

“Huh?”

She raised her head to peek at Wendy across her bed. “My partner.” She breathed, “Irene unnie is my partner in that new show.”

“For real?” Wendy stopped looking at her phone, pretty much directing all her attention towards her. “Oh my gosh, you must be very excited!”

Seulgi let her head fall against her pillow again and fetched a long sigh. “I am.”

“What’s with that sigh? You got a great chemistry as a host together, though.”

“That’s the problem.”

“What problem?” Wendy slowly made her way to sit at the end of Seulgi’s bed. She gave a weird look at her roommate who curled up with pillow fully-covering her face. “Do you even breathing?”

“I’m breathing just fine.” Seulgi responded with mumbled voice. Hands tightly clutched the said pillow to stay placed as if possessed. “It’s a problem because we got along really well after having no contact at all over a year.”

“Wouldn’t it be good? Your show is entitled as ‘Soulmate’ right?” Her petite member air quoted and got a nod of pillow from her companion. She couldn’t agree more. “It’s great as you don’t have to feel awkward with each other and it’s definitely rare to have that strong connection with someone you rarely meet. She is your truly soulmate, then!” Wendy reasoned out while reaching to pull the fluffy thing off Seulgi’s face. “And stop covering your face with it. I’m afraid you would faint due to the lack of oxygen.”

Seulgi jutted her lips and groaned. She was glad that her roommate preferred to sleep without bright lights on, only a small lamp on the table beside them that illuminated their whole room in a dim light. It made her easier to hide her expression. “I feel weird.”

“You are even weirder if you didn’t tell me what’s really going on.”

“I feel weird with my own feelings.”

“Gee, I feel like being a high school student all over again.” Wendy lowly commented and ushered Seulgi to make some space. Seulgi and her lack of sense in a relationship were going to drive her insane. “Move away.”

The figure moved a bit and let her member intrude her personal space, joining under the same blanket. The younger one shifted on her place before turning to look at Seulgi’s confused face. “Hear me out captain. I know the answer to your question.”

Seulgi nodded slowly as if being hypnotized.

“You have an ultimate crush on her.” Wendy confidently said despite the growing doubt on Seulgi’s face. “That’s the only possible reason. Don’t deny it.”

“Why is everyone accusing me of having a crush on her?”

“Because you are. It’s clearly shown on your face. It was even obvious when you two worked together before.” Wendy replied reasonably. “You talked about her way too often than I care to remember. It was as if she was one of our members though.”

“Am I?” Seulgi asked herself at the new found information she got. “That much?”

“Yeah… you can scroll at the time when you worked with her on our group chat, Sooyoung went as far as spamming us with stickers and her photos whenever you started talking about Irene unnie.”

“So that was her reason for spamming us at that time?” Seulgi stared at her with a dropped jaw. “She did ignore me then!”

“According to her you were acting like a love-sick and it got her a goosebump.” Wendy started to laugh at how pissed Seulgi looked right now. “Don’t go hard on her though. Everyone was secretly glad whenever she was able to cut you from spazzing over Irene unnie.”

“I’m not spazzing over her!”

“That Irene unnie is beautiful you always said to us?” Wendy arched her brows. “Even her backside is beautiful.” She mimicked her line again, fighting back the need to gag at her cheesy words. “You know how it shocked the hell out of us? How come the view of someone’s backside be that beautiful?”

“Unless you’re in love with that someone then everything makes sense.” She added with a knowing smile.

“Whoa.” Seulgi was about to bolt up, but Wendy held her still. She frowned back at her. “But I just met her today!”

“Those symptoms were seen way longer.”  Wendy muttered. “And to make it more obvious, you rarely said that kind of thing to us though.”

“You want me to say that thing to you?” Seulgi’s eyes grew into a slit. A teasing smile made its way to form on her lips. “Uri Seungwan is beautiful.”

“On second thought, please exclude me.” The latter answered with gritted teeth. “And please don’t try to change our topic. You’re not going anywhere with it.”

“Then if it’s true that she is my truly Soulmate,” Seulgi closed her eyes and huffed silently. “I shouldn’t develop any feelings for her.”

“Who in the hell said that?”

“No one, but I feel like I shouldn’t.”

“What’s the definition of Soulmate according to you?” Seulgi opened her lids and stared at Wendy’s casual look. “My other half, we share a strong connection. Someone who understands me perfectly in a way no one else can.”

“Good. What about a lover then?”

“My home, I will always come back to them. Someone who completes me,” Seulgi tried to think more. “Someone who completes my whole being.”

“What if by any sheer of a coincidence that someone you consider as your Soulmate is also someone who turns out to be your lover?” Wendy probed with a wide smile. “What do you think?”

“Uh…”

“They will complete every piece of you in a most perfect way.”

Seulgi could only gape at her member’s statement. That’s beautiful…

“I know that you’re a hopeless romantic by heart.” Wendy chuckled at her surprised face and shook her head before closing her eyes to sleep. “It’s rare, but not impossible. I’ll rest my case now.” She peeked through one eye at her older member, shoving her pillow in her direction.

“You better sleep love sick.”
