Chapter 5
HOME [GOTWICE FANFICTION]Jinyoung scrolled down his instagram timeline while waiting for his lecturer to come in. He was too lazy to like all picture so he just stopped scrolling to look, and continue to scroll again. Then, something caught his eyes and he stopped scrolling. Instead, he stared at the photo for a long time.
It's a selfie posted by Nayeon.
She was smiling wide, showing her cute bunny teeth, with a cat filter overlaying her face. Below the photo was written her caption, "Am I a rabbit or a cat??? I forgot my identity!!" and Jinyoung smiled.
He remember back then he always drop a comment to her photo. Something very, very cheesy like "I don't know that angels nowadays use Instagram" and "I wear sunglasses while using my phone because you're shining so bright". Yes, Jinyoung was cheesy like that and he often got teased by the members but he couldn't care less.
Ah... good old days.
It had been 2 months since their break up, yet Jinyoung still remember every little thing of their relationship. It's not easy to move on, especially since Nayeon was not an easy girl to forget either.
She has a heart of a gold, she's someone who works hard to get what she wants, when she's determined, nothing can stop her. She cares about others more than herself, and Jinyoung doesn't think he ever met someone as selfless as her.
But yeah, they somehow broke up.
Those four months of dating her was the best 4 months in Jinyoung's life. He noticed it when she started to change, but he didn't expect her to ask for a break up. Jinyoung hated the idea so much. He hated the idea of not getting morning wish and morning kisses for her every day, he hated the idea of had to look at her but not taking her to his arms. He hated the idea of his days without her.
But he wanted to be as selfless as her. If she wanted to end the relationship, there must be a reason. It would be selfish for him to stop her.
And that's how the worst 2 months of Park Jinyoung's life started.
Jackson entered his college's swimming pool and made his way to the locker. He pulled out his swimming trunk and put his bag in the locker. After he's done changing, he went out to the pool and saw his teammate, Momo was warming up her body. He walked until he stood beside her and started his warm up too.
"Oh, hey, you're early today," Momo greeted. .
"Yeah, the class ended early," Jackson answered simply. Momo frowned. She had known Jackson since her first semester-which has been a year and half since she joined the swimming team, and that's long enough to know that there's something wrong with the guy. The Jackson that she knew would reply with something more Jackson-y such as "This is not my first time being early!" or "There are others who came way later than me", not a serious, direct answer like just now.
"You're okay?" Momo asked. Jackson nodded.
"Sure. Why would you think I'm not?" He raised his eyebrows at the girl.
"Because you're not being yourself. Even if your class ends early, you'll not come half an hour early. You'd go to cafe or anything. And that answer you gave just now doesn't sound 'Wang Jackson' enough for me," Momo said. Jackson scoffed.
He didn't hate, hate Momo, but not exactly favor her either. But he really hated it when the girl pointed out something about him that no one noticed. He hated it when Momo pointed out his mistake when not even his coach saw it. He hated it when Momo always trying to win whenever they got caught up in a conversation. He hated it when the girl was always accurate in whatever she says and provide a concrete reason behind it because it was so hard to not be a flawless Wang Jackson in front of everyone when she's there.
And the girl study law. Good luck to other lawyers out there.
"If you have any problem, you can share it with me," Momo said, interrupting Jackson's thought.
"And have you tell the whole college? No, thanks," Momo chuckled at his words.
"I thought you already knew me. I observe, I fight by giving you reasons, I point out what I see with prove, I argue until I win, but I don't go around and tell people what I know. I'm a law person, Wang Jackson," Momo said.
Jackson took a deep breath. Here she goes again. She threw the facts in his face again. Jackson hated how the girl could be right every single time.
But to think of it again, it wouldn't hurt much to tell Momo about what's bothering him. It's not like he could share it with the house members. Nope, that would be too embarassing. Telling Momo could embarass too, but less. At least he wasn't going to see the girl every day.
"Okay, let's just sit down first,"
"So you're telling me the reason why the King Jackson is being emotional like this is because of a girl?" Momo asked in disbelief after Jackson was done with his story. Jackson sighed.
"I should've known better," Jackson mumbled, slowly feeling the regret of opening up to her.
"No, no, I'm not judging you or anything. It's because I thought you've been heartbroken over someone before and that's why you play around with girls. Never ever I thought that it was actually you had never being in love before," Momo said. Jackson just sat in silent, as he kicked the water in the pool.
"So you like this girl, but your housemate is hitting on her too. Have you even talked to her yet?"
"Not really. Didn't have the chance to,"
"Seriously? You can't just sit here, being an emo boy when you've actually done nothing. Be emo to me after you actually tried and fail," Momo said. Jackson sighed.
"You have any suggestion on how should I approach her?" Jackson asked. Momo wanted to tease how soft Jackson has been just because of a girl, but she decided to keep it.
"Nope, I'm here to listen. Not to help," Jackson frowned.
"What the hell? What kind of 'law person' who just listen and not help?" The guy said sarcastically and Momo couldn't help but laugh.
"Let's just say, you're a special case, Wang. You're an experienced playboy. You should've known better," Momo said. She then stood up and streched her body after sitting down for 15 minutes.
"But I have different intention now. With those girls, I have nothing to lose. But with this girl, I'm putting my heart on the line," Jackson said, while looking up to Momo. Both of them stare at each other for quite a long time, before Jackson started talking again.
"Are you not going to laugh at me or something because I'm pretty sure I sound so soft just now," Momo chuckled.
"Why? You're just a guy falling in love. It just took you later than others, but that doesn't make you less human, Jackson. Now I don't have to point out your mistake to prove myself that you're really a human afterall,"
Later that evening, Bambam craved for a bottle of cold coke to ease his thirst so he went downstairs to go out to the nearest store. Mina who was sitting at the couch while watching television saw Bambam.
"Where are you going?" She asked.
"To get some coke. Want to tag along?" Mina nodded.
"Wait a minute, I want to take my purse," Mina said and ran up to her room. Not long after, she came down and both of them walked together to the store.
"So, I've been wanting to ask you something, but never had the chance to be alone with you." Bambam started. Mina turned to look at him.
"Really? What is it?" Mina asked.
"Uh... Uhm... You know, actually, I overheard your conversation with Sana," Bambam paused.
"Conversation? Which conversation?" Mina asked again.
"The one that... about Sana has a crush on Mark hyung," Bambam carefully said. Mina was surprised after hearing that. She didn't even imagine anyone heard what she and Sana was talking.
"I'm sorry, I didn't meant to. I was passing by and heard Sana was squealing or something so I stopped. I thought anything bad happened. I'm really sorry," Bambam explained. Mina just laughed it off.
"It's okay. It could've been worst if Mark oppa himself heard us," Mina replied.
"Uhm, so... I figured out that you didn't tell Sana? That you like Mark hyung too?" Mina sighed at the question.
"She told me her feelings first. How can I say that I like the same guy too, Bam?" Bambam pursed his lips and nodded.
Mina and Bambam... well, they had a pretty weird friendship. They're not as close as Youngjae and Jeongyeon. Both of them didn't spend their time together like the pair, and they were not in a friendship that tell each other how's their day or something.
But some-weirdly-how, Mina had opened up about her secret to Bambam. It was just two of them watching a variety show that night amd the cast was talking about 'crush' and Bambam just casually asked her if she has anyone she liked in the house and some-magically-how she just spill it to him. There's just something about the boy that made her felt comfortable. He's a good listener, and usually ended their conversation with a joke or something so Mina didn't feel burdensome to share anything with him.
"So you're gonna give up just like that? I mean you didn't even try. Who knows Mark hyung might like you?" Bambam asked.
"I think Sana suits Mark oppa better. He's kind, humble, good looking, he comes from a good and rich family. Sana's his perfect match. She has the looks and all the good quality of her personality, she also comes from a good family. Not like me, Bam. While I'm here to change my family's life for the better, she's a heiress of a big company. I'm just an ordinary girl. I don't think I can date Mark oppa even if I'm given a chance. It'll be too burdensome for me,"
"And, I don't think I can betray Sana like that, Bam. Even if I win Mark oppa's heart, I'll lost Sana. I can't do that to her. I've known her way before I meet Mark oppa, and I know it's just not worth it," Mina added. Bambam looked at Mina's poker face, before he sighed.
"So what are you going to do now?" Bambam asked.
"I'll find a way to help Sana get closer to Mark. It'll be a win-win situation. Sana's going to be happy because she's with the man that she likes, Mark oppa will be so lucky to get a girl who loves him as genuine as Sana. I'll be happy if both of them happy. There, happy ending," The girl nodded as she conclude her words, seemed satisfied with what she just said.
"So.... You're going to give up just like that?" Mina turned to look at Bambam. Their eyes met, and Mina gave him-as what he saw in his eyes- a bitter smile. Not too bitter, just slightly, before the girl said,
"It's a fight that I can't win, Bam. I hope you understand."
This chapter is kinda angsty :(
There, 2 things revealed. Jinyoung and Nayeon is an ex-couple, and... Mina has a crush on Mark too :((((((
AND WELCOME OUR GIRL, MOMO TO THE STORY *claps claps* In my plan so far, Momo probably will appear the most compared to Jihyo and Chaeng.
