Chapter 16
HOME [GOTWICE FANFICTION]Jackson wandered around the unfamiliar building as he looked at the faces he passed by, hopefully finding the person he was looking for. It wasn't his first time at the Law faculty, he had friends from the faculty. Heck, Jackson Wang probably has friends from every faculty. But he rarely came here so it was quite new and confusing.
Jackson made his way to the second floor, and after he walked a bit, he finally saw the person he was looking for. A grin crept its way to his lips.
"Hirai!!" He called excitedly. The said girl diverted her gaze to his direction, and looked at him in widened eyes. He saw Momo talked to her friend, probably asking them to go first before waving them goodbye and walked to him.
"What are you doing here?" Momo asked.
"Uh... Waiting for you?" Jackson asked back.
"What? Why?" Momo asked as she frowned in confusion. Jackson looked around and pulled Momo closer to him.
"Remember I said about confessing? I want to do it today," Jackson said, lowing down his voice.
"And? What does that have to do with me?"
"Of course it has something to do with you! You're the only one who knows, well Mark hyung knows but since he got a girlfriend already he doesn't have time for me anymore but, anyway, that's not the point. I need you to help me," Jackson said. Momo sighed at his words.
"Help you with what?" Momo asked.
"I want to buy flowers but I don't know what kind of flower I should buy," Jackson said, rubbing the back of his neck, feeling slightly embarassed.
"Oh, come on, you're the ultimate playboy here. Don't play innocent," Momo said, rolling her eyes.
"No, come on, Momo, you know it's different this time. Pleaseeee," Jackson begged, putting his hand together as he gave Momo the best puppy eyes he had. Momo kept silent for a while, before she sighed and finally nodded.
"Alright... But treat me something to eat first. I'm hungry," Momo said. Jackson smiled widely.
"Of course!! Let's go!"
"Do you know a lot about flowers?" Jackson asked while walking beside Momo. It was already dark outside by the time both of them walked out of the restaurant. They were caught up in their conversation during dinner that they didn't realized that time went by already.
"I know a few things, but not an expert. Seriously you're choosing a wrong person, Wang," Momo said.
"But I don't have anyone else other than you who know about this? I can't go to my other friend out of a sudden and tell them I'm gonna confess today. They'd freak out knowing I'm in love for real and that's going to be too overwhelmed to handle," Jackson said. Both of them then talked about other stuffs like the competition coming soon, before finally arrived at a florist.
"Aaaaa why am I suddenly nervous?" Jackson half-screamed and Momo laughed, never did she thought she would witness this side of Jackson Wang. Both of them step in the flower shop and were welcomed by the florist. Jackson's jaw dropped as they walked around the shop.
"There are so many flower! How can I choose one?" he said.
"Depends. What do you want to say to her? I love you?" Momo asked.
"Uhm... I think 'love' is a bit too sudden. Maybe lighter than that? More innocent, like 'I like you' or something," Jackson said. Momo nodded.
"I think something pink would be the most suitable,"
"Really?" Jackson asked.
"If you don't trust me then I'll just go home," Momo said before turning around but Jackson held her arm.
"I didn't say that I don't trust you! It's a new fact for me, that's all," Jackson said, rolling his eyes. Momo frowned as she look back at Jackson.
"Seriously, how did you get those girls and the playboy title?" Momo asked. Jackson grinned.
"Isn't it obvious? With this face, what else," Jackson replied. Momo faked a puke and Jackson laughed at her respond.
"Hi, I'm the owner of this shop. May I help both of you, Mister and Miss?" A mid-30 lady approached both of them. Jackson nudged Momo's elbow, signalling for her to answer. Momo rolled her eyes before turning to look at the lady.
"Yes, actually my friend here is a number one playboy, finally falling in love and want to confess to his crush, but he's a dork so he's not sure what kind of flower to buy," Momo said. Jackson pinched her arm slightly and Momo turned around with widened eyes.
"You don't have to tell so specifically," Jackson said in between gritting teeth. Momo stuck her tounge out at him.
"Oh, I thought both of you are a couple," The lady said, chuckling.
"I have higher taste--OUCH!!" Jackson screamed in pain when Momo hit his arm. He rubbed his arm while mumbling words under his breath.
"Usually for confession, lots of people choose rose, but I would like to suggest tulip," the lady said.
"Tulip? Does it has any special meaning or something?" Jackson asked.
"Depending on the colour. The red one, like rose, it represents love. Suitable for couples, but since you're confessing, I think pink tulip would be the best. It means like a beginning of love, like, you only have known someone for a short time, but you know your heart is attracted at her, so you want her to know that," The lady explained. Both Jackson and Momo nodded.
"See? I told you pink is the best," Momo said.
"But you didn't say tulip," Jackson replied. Momo scoffed at his words while the florist smiled lightly at their cute argument.
"I'll take the pink tulip then," Jackson said to the lady.
Jackson came back home feeling giddy inside. Seriously, it was his first time feeling this excited and nervous at the same time. He never thought he'd feel all of this, but here he is.
Jackson put the flower inside his bag, so when he came home, the house members greeted him as usual. Though Jackson didn't see Tzuyu anywhere in the living room, watching TV with the rest.
"Where are the others?" Jackson asked. The question came out not too suspiciously since not only Tzuyu was absent.
"Jinyoung oppa is out having dinner with his sister, Youngjae oppa and Jeongyeon unnie are upstairs, Tzuyu and Yugyeom oppa went out for a walk," Dahyun said. Jackson's eyebrows raised when he heard that Tzuyu was out with Yugyeom, but he decided to stay positive.
"Alright, thanks, Dahyun," He said, before walking to the room.
Yugyeom asked Tzuyu through text after dinner if she'd like to have a walk with him. Fortunately, Tzuyu said yes so here they were, walking beside each other on the street. They stopped by to buy a cone ice-cream each, and continue walking.
"Are you having a bad day, oppa?" Tzuyu asked. She remembered back then she promised for both of them to take a walk together if Yugyeom was having a hard time. Yugyeom looked at her and shook his head.
"It's not like that..." Yugyeom trailed off.
"Then?" Tzuyu asked after Yugyeom left his sentence hanging.
"Actually... I... Uh... How to say this?" Tzuyu frowned as she looked at Yugyeom in confusion. She almost jumped when Yugyeom suddenly stood in the opposite of her, stopping both of their steps. Yugyeom took a deep breath before he looked at Tzuyu right in the eyes. Tzuyu didn't know why, but she felt her heart suddenly pounding faster than usual.
"Actually, Tzuyu... I-I like you," There. Yugyeom said it. Tzuyu's eyes widened in surprise.
"I like you," Yugyeom said it again, more confidently this time. "I know this may seem a little too sudden since we've only known each other for like 2 months, but I really like you not just because of your outside, but also your inside. I like how naive and innocent you are, I like how you might be having hard time adjusting to a new place like this but you're still concern about me and the others, I like your passion towards arts and improving your Korean, I like how you look lost when you're trying to remember what word to say at certain time, I like how you smile while looking outside the window,"
"I like everything about you," Yugyeom ended. Tzuyu still look surprised, and all of a sudden Yugyeom felt his confidence vanished. What if he's only making things awkward? He didn't mean to confess that long but words just naturally flew out of his mouth. Yugyeom felt his throat dried and his palm sweated despite the chilly air hitting him.
"I understand if you don't like--"
"No. I mean, yes? Wait, I mean, I like you too, oppa," Tzuyu said. Now it's Yugyeom's turn to be surprised.
"What? Really?" He asked. Tzuyu smiled shyly.
"Actually, it has been quite some time. I'm touched when you came to me when I was lost even though you really didn't have too. And you take care of me a lot too all this time, so even though I'm having hard time, I feel better because you're here," Tzuyu said. Yugyeom smiled upon hearing Tzuyu's words. He felt beyond happy. Who would've known that she had the same feelings as him too?
"Oh my God... I can't believe this," Yugyeom said. Tzuyu chuckled. Her cheeks were already blushing so hard, she secretly hoped that Yugyeom didn't notice it.
"So are we like... together now?" Yugyeom asked. Tzuyu laughed lightly.
"Maybe? You can say so," Tzuyu replied shyly. Yugyeom cheered excitedly before he started to do a random silly dance on the street. Tzuyu laughed, and looked around. Luckily there was no one besides them. Yugyeom laughed too and took both Tzuyu's hands in his and started making her to dance too. Surprisingly, Tzuyu followed, and both of them laughed together before Yugyeom pulled her into a hug.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you,"
Jackson tapped his feet on the floor impatiently as he kept glancing to the door and the clock from time to time. He sighed when he decided that he couldn't wait any longer. He needed to go out and find Tzuyu. In front Yugyeom, or not, he wanted to confess to her tonight.
Jackson went upstairs and put on his hoodie. He took the tulip with him, carefully hiding it by holding it low beside his hip. Thankfully, most of the house members were focusing onto the drama so they didn't notice Jackson.
Jackson pulled open the door and put on his shoes. He turned around after he was done, but froze on his spot when he saw Yugyeom and Tzuyu coming home.
Together.
Side-by-side.
And holding hands.
He looked at them who both had the same smile while looking at each other and Jackson could feel the pang slapping his heart.
They look... so in love...
Both Tzuyu and Yugyeom finally turned their head and saw Jackson, staring at them, with a rather blank face than a surprised one.
"Oh, hyung. You're going out?" Yugyeom asked. Jackson blinked repeatly, his fingers pinched his thigh. It hurts. So he wasn't dreaming.
"Flower?" Yugyeom asked as he spotted the flower Jackson was holding. Jackson snapped from his thought. He looked down at the flower. He's late. He lost it. He lost the chance.
He lost his first love.
Jackson bit his lower lip hard, trying to stop the tears that were gathering in his eyes.
, not now. Not in front of them.
Jackson took a deep breath before he laughed lightly and looked up.
"Yes, my friend put it in my bag and forgot to take it back. Now he ask me to send it to him. What a nuisance," Jackson said. Yugyeom gave him a strange look, but nodded anyway. Jackson looked back at their hands that were still tightly together.
"So you guys are a thing now or what?" Jackson asked. Even though the answer was pretty obvious, Jackson decided to ask. Please, it was his last hope. Please, say no. Please tell me it's not true.
But the moment Jackson saw the shy smile both of them had, Jackson knew it.
"Ye--"
"Uh, I-I need to go, see you guys later," Jackson quickly before he ran lightly to the gate, out of the house. That's it. He didn't need to hear it.
He didn't need anything to break his heart even more.
Jackson ran, and ran, but the ache on his heart was not going away. He felt his fingers numb, and his heart ached. He felt the tears falling to his cheek, but his heart still ached. Jackson finally stopped after about 15 minutes of just running without any direction.
He felt himself out of breath. He felt his legs weakened. He felt the sweats dripping out from his whole body.
But he still feel his heart hurt, he could feel it literally breaking into pieces. He could feel it clenching inside in the most painful way a Jackson Wang ever felt.
Jackson wanted to scream, but nothing came out. He was frustated. He lost before he even tried. Wasn't it unfair? Shouldn't he at least given a chance first? Jackson was annoyed, he didn't ask for this feeling. Wasn't it really unfair to him to be hurting like this?
That's the thing about love. It hit you in ways that you wouldn't expect. Whether it hit you good, or bad.
