Description

All her life Seulgi has never been particularly interested in boys. There was something about them that was “icky” and “weird” to her. Her parents shrugged it off as her being too young to understand and it being a mere case of the “cooties” that all boys and girls go through when young and not near puberty. Seulgi too had thought that to be but it seemed the older she became the more disinteresting the male became to her. Seulgi could never relate to many girls who went absolutely crazy over boys referring to them as cute, handsome or outright jawdropping. Babies are cute, yes. Boys being handsome? Not in Seulgi's eyes. Jawdropping? A triple layer chocolate cake, yes. Seulgi could not understand what the girls went crazy over but she went along with it. Might I add–as best as she could–because there were times when Seulgi wanted to puke at the things she would say, let alone do.

In her freshman year Seulgi had gone steady with a boy. She ignored the warning bells and sirens in her head when agreeing to date the boy. She wanted to be like all the other girls, she wanted to fit in and be normal. Seulgi should have gone with not only her gut but her heart. Every time they touched she wanted to run away. She felt so incredibly awkward and violated. Even then, she had stayed with him because “they make such a cute couple.” In doing this Seulgi learned something. Seulgi had come to find out the reason behind her disinterest for males. Seulgi had found the true reason behind her never ending platonic feelings for all boys around.

Kang Seulgi discovered that she is lesbian.

It never came to her at first why she would stare more at girls. Why she would find girls cute, beautiful and jawdropping. Why she had often invisioned herself as a dragon slayer saving their princess. Why she had a better liking towards certain girls than others.

All that while her heart would flutter or her stomach would coil in making eye contact with the prettiest girl in class, Seulgi shrugged it off as admiration. Seulgi assumed that all girls felt the same for it was never awkward to compliment one another or hug or hold hands or even kiss each other on the cheek. None of it were out of the norm at all so it is why Seulgi shrugged it off for so long.

What made her come to this realization you ask?

It was the same year Seulgi started dating the dancer Jongin. Her senior friend Jieun was never too happy about it. Jieun had always had a snarky comment or scowl on her face whenever Jongin were around. Seulgi had never understood why this was although many claimed it to be jealousy, Seulgi had always felt a little like that was not the case. On the last day of school, she found it to be exactly that except it was not the way she had thought it to be. It wasn't Seulgi she was jealous of. It was Jongin. Jieun bravely confessed her heart to her junior with no expectancy of returned feelings. Jieun's confession led Seulgi's curiosity into oblivion. Seulgi's request to do everything she does with Jongin to Jieun had answered every question in the back of her mind. The efforts of fighting such feelings towards females were forever tarnished that day.

Ever since then, Seulgi has lived with the acceptance that she is lesbian. For two years she kept it to herself. That following year, her best friend Hweji found out. There was absolutely nothing more fearful than that. Luckily for Seulgi, Hweji assured her that she was going nowhere fast. That was all Seulgi could ask for, it was nice having someone to vent to when things got tough for her. There are many instances where Seulgi's parents will show their disapproval for the LGBT community so having Hweji there for her made her feel so much better. A weight is lifted off her shoulders when spending time with Hweji. Things had started to look up when coming to their senior year, the two best friends had set goals for their future together. Everything was great.

That's the one word that is eyepopping. Was.

Nearing summer's end, the Kang's sat their daughter down and announced,

“We are sending you to an all girls boarding school for your senior year!”

You can only imagine the mixture of panic and joyfulness on Seulgi's face.

Kang Seulgi discovers that there are plenty girls in the world just like her but it just so happens that she falls for one that is not

—at least that's what she thinks.

Foreword

“A close friend of mine revealed an inspiring post and it inspired me to write this. I admit, I am rusty and have not written in years (not long right? haha.) so if you would so kindly go easy on me with your constrictive criticism, I would greatly appreciate it. I am not too updated on the kpop scene or girl groups so forgive me for that also, do not hesitate to correct me in anything reguarding the chosen idols. They requested it to be seulrene (i must admit they are cute together) and I am afraid that I will not live up to their expectations because I am accustomed to writing boyxgirl content so you can only imagine the pressure I am feeling. Please please please bear with me on this rough edgy journey.”
