Under My Skin

Under My Skin

They hated each other. Right? Well they’re supposed to, at least according to the invisible hierarchy policies that were made long before they’d gotten their letter. Jeon Somi, in the top of her house, Gryffindor. Lee Minseo, the same only she resided in the Slytherin house. The bravest and slyest, Friends? Now that was preposterous. That was all according to the past. So that’s what they and everyone else followed. Until of course fate was shown to be stronger than even magic.

They were both second years, though they’d both managed to have never spoken. That reason was because Somi would like to keep her distance. While Minseo didn’t give a damn. Though they got closer, starting from the first day Minseo had saved Somi.

Somi hated being helped, seeing it as some sort of one upping rather than what it actually was. But on that day in particular she couldn’t have been more grateful. Though if you were to ask somebody, it never happened. That is, if Somi has anything to say about it.

She’d been caught off guard. Though one should always be cautious of walking past the first year Transfiguration class. If she had, she would have noticed the giant bird flying towards her. A loud shriek could be heard from the hallway, capturing ongoing classes’ attention.

But in a matter of seconds she was covered by, if her memory served her right, a cloak. Whose? Well she only figured that out, after they’d left. Somi regained her vision, her eyes darting to the ground, where a bird turned book lay. Out of the corner of her eye she caught a flash of green. The low whispers of things like “The next dark lord” told her who it was.

------

Something seemed to have compelled Somi. Because she found herself standing in front of the girl’s table in the library. It wasn’t actually hers’ but no student dared to sit there, out of fear. But that obviously didn’t matter Somi, as she sat in the seat like it was any other. Because it was technically.

Minseo of course hadn’t bothered to look up from her book. That is of course Somi began to talk. At first she had thanked her but now she was just rambling. Minseo closed her book i annoyance,,her eyes glancing around ore she spotted what she was looking for. Somi’s wand, something she treasured deary. Minseo stood taking the wand between.her hands.

“Wait!” Somi yelled as she stood abruptly, reaching up to snatch the wand back.

“Leave.” Minseo said pointing the wand directly in Somi’s face.

“But I w-.”

“What, did you fall for me just after I saved you once?”  Minseok mocked

Somi scoffed as she snatched the the wand from Minseo’s hand. “I just wanted to thank you, you jerk.” She pushed past the taller girl, not giving her a chance to even stop. If she had actually attempted to anyway.

----

Minseo tapped her foot against the stairs as she waited for Somi. The girl hadn’t spoken to her since the incident from the day before. But Somi hadn’t expected Minseo to try and talk to her. Which is why she tried to sidestep her on her way to her room.

Minseo placed her arm gainst the wall, stopping her from going anywhere. She stayed silent for a moment, just staring at the shorter girl.

“Stop looking at me like that.” Somi mumbled, her cheeks becoming flushed

“Minseo blinked. “Like what?” Somi didn’t answer but the blush on her face did.

She leaned down, her eyes still locked with Somi’s. “You’re strange.”

Somi found herself struggling to catch her breath. “W-what?”

“For some strange reason I actually feel sorry for acting the way I did yesterday.”

Somi’s eyes rolled. “Maybe because you were being an .”

“You were being distracting.” Minseo countered

“I was thanking you.”

“Well don’t.” Was the lst thing Minseo said before walking into her room, leaving Somi dumbfounded.

-----

Memories from the night before now ran through Minseo’s mind. Was I possessed by a child or something?  Her eyes were glued to the side of Somi’s face.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the professor who seemed to be the only one who noticed her staring. “Ms. Lee while I don’t doubt your intelligence, it’d be greatly appreciated if you could at least pretend to pay attention to me, instead of Ms.Jeon’s face.”

Minseo bit her lip with a grimace before turning away. Somi pressed her palm against to cover the smile. Everyone looked around at each other, making sure they’d all heard the same thing.

Minseo knew the incident from earlier would haunt her. And she was right, by the end of the day everyone had heard about it. It was like headline news. But none of that mattered. Until Somi mentioned it. She was walking past the Quidditch field when she felt a bright presence beside her.

She knew who it was, She didn’t even have to look, but she did. Because she wanted to see her.

“So I really am distracting?” Somi asked teasingly

Minseo bit her lip to hide the smile that tugged at her lips. “Shut up.”

Somi’s giggles turned into a shriek at the sight of a speeding quaffle heading towards them. Minseo praised her reflexes as she, caught the ball. She hissed at the stinging pain in her palm. She turned so fast, before the slytherin boy had a chance to apologize. Her aim as good as her reflexes, as she threw it back harder, knocking the boy off his broom.

She turned back to Somi. “Are you not even going to thank me?”

“Well I would but I remember you told me not to.”

Minseo opened to retort anything, though nothing came out.  She waited for a moment thinking of something to say.  “Well at least help me bandage my bruised hand, since it is your fault.”

Somi took her hand releasing a dramatic sigh.

------

She snickered as Minseo hissed in pain as the rubbing alcohol touched her skin. “Oh stop being a baby.”

Minseo scoffed defensively, watching Somi cover her hand with the bandage. “I’m not being baby, it hurts.”

“Well no one told you to catch it.”

“”Just stop endangering yourself.”

“Well stop-” She was cut off b Minseo soft lips. Her bandaged hand was now tucked in her hair. While Somi were somehow wrapped around her neck. Minseo pulled away with a satisfied smirk.

“Definitely don’t stop doing that.” Somi said as she leaned into Minseo lips again.
