Foreword

Joa yo

Kai was totally spent. The remaining furniture and appliances were delivered today and he's just spent several hours moving them into place. After connecting the appliances and making sure they are working properly he plopped down onto his leather sofa, groaned as he reached forward for the tv remote and the wall mounted tv.
It's only been a week since he moved to Seoul. He's left his friends and teammates in the USA to start afresh and what better place than his mother's country?
He idly flicked through the channels. Seems the citizens of his new adopted country were quite partial to variety shows. Show after show of variety programs with very few splatters of music programs and sports channels.
Finally he found the baseball channel. It was a game between the Doosan Bears and the Kia Tigers from the previous season. As he watched the game his thoughts went to an important decision he needed to make. He needed to choose which baseball club he will sign on with for the upcoming season. He was in discussion with three korean and four japanese clubs. Only a small number of key personnel from each respective clubs knew of his move to Seoul, and they all knew to keep that information strictly confidential if they wanted his signature.
The game he was watching reached the end of the fifth inning and went to a commercial. A particularly annoying advertisement came on and he quickly changed the channel.
Another variety show. Apparently the show is called A Song For You, MC’d by a guy named Kangin. The shows’ guests this episode was a korean kpop girl group - AOA. Kai puts the remote down as a beautiful young woman - Hyejeong, introduced herself. As the girls continue their introductions he decides that baseball can take a backseat for once.
As he watched, a stunning girl wearing a lavender dress introduced herself. Yuna. Kai was awestruck. So much so that it quickly dawned on him that he was holding his breath! What the hell! He was at the edge of panic until at last an explosive breath escaped from his lungs, followed by a desperate inhalation of much needed air.
He got off the couch and headed for the kitchen to get a glass of water. He picked up a glass from the cupboard, the tap and filled his glass.
He was about to take a gulp of water when he caught sight of Yuna again. He almost dropped the glass! What the is going on?! He can't breath again!! This is ridiculous! Desperate for a breath of air he quickly walks to the couch, grabbed the remote and turned the tv off!
Finally able to breath he collapses onto the sofa. Who IS this girl? She's stunning - yes, but he's seen dozens and been around beautiful women before. This has never happened to him - ever!
As he sat there regaining his composure he thought about Yuna. She has a soft, melodious voice. An amazing smile….
Reaching over for his cell phone he sends out a group text. It's to the seven club managers and presidents vying for his signature. The message was short and simple.
It read: “I will join the baseball club that provides me with the cell number of AOA’s Yuna. You have fifteen minutes.”

“Unnie, we should try that new restaurant in Hongdae. My friend Sooyoung said it's really popular.”
Yuna felt her arm being shaken so she paused her mp3 player. Their maknae, Chanmi was speaking to her as their group went for an early morning walk.
“Sorry Chanmi, what were you saying?” as she took her earphones out.
“Do you want to go with me to that new restaurant? We can all go.” AOA’s maknae links her arm to her unnie’s.
“Sure. When?” Yuna replied with a smile.
Chanmi looks ahead at the rest of the members.
“Jimin unnie!” she calls out, “can we eat out tonight?” she giggles as she runs forward to catch up with the rest while dragging Yuna along.
It was a nice morning. The air was crisp but the morning sun kept the cold at bay. The girls enjoyed this morning walks as part of their daily exercise routine. Even more so when the entire team was present.
They walked on, excitedly discussing the restaurant they were going to try out along with the positive reviews they've heard from people they know who've visited the new establishment.
As AOA rounded a corner block to start heading back to their dorm they were approached by several young men.
“Hey! Look guys, it's AOA!” one boy said to his friends. The same boy started to dance the key choreography of AOA’s hit song “Like a cat”
His friends started to laugh. The boy dancing was clearly making fun of the girls.
Choa, the oldest of the group push forward to the front and said to the boy, “Hey, not bad! You probably practiced that dance harder than we do! Maybe you wanna join our group?!”
The boy dancing immediately stopped and walked up to Choa.
“Who wants to be part of Arses of Angels?!” he mocked

Hyejeong went to Choa’s side and spoke to the rude young man.

“Hey jerk! Piss off!”

The young man, angered by being embarrassed in front of his friends Hyejeong.

“What did you say?” he asked threateningly.

Seeing what was transpiring Yuna tried to push in between her friend and the young man.

This only angered the boy further and he roughly shoved at Yuna.

“Hey!” The AOA members protested.

This did not deter the angry boy as he raised his fist to strike at Yuna.

Frightened, she covered her head with her arms and waited for the blow to land.

After a few seconds she peeks through her arms. The arrogant boy didn’t hit her. Was he just bluffing?

Yuna looks through her upraised arms and sees a huge guy holding the arms of the boy in a tight, unmoveable grip. The boy’s friends were backing away in fright. This guy was huge!

Kai couldn’t believe his eyes. There she was, walking with her band mates. She looked amazing in black tight runners and an oversize blue sweater with a hoodie.

He slows his pace and continues to admire the object of his affection.

He’s been walking around for hours, intent on familiarizing himself to his neighbourhood.

His apartment was a relatively short distance away from the river and only a block away from shops and convenience stores.

He was starting to head back to his place when he saw AOA walking from the opposite direction.

Sweet Jesus, they were easy on the eyes! Specially Yuna.

He watched as they walk closer. They were laughing and conversing as young friends would.

Kai wrenched his eyes away from staring at Yuna and was about to continue when he noticed a group of five young men approach Yuna’s group.

He stopped and watched as a young man started to dance towards AOA. Guy looked like a retard, but hey, who was he to criticize someone’s dancing ability – or lack of?

A girl with short blonde hair spoke to the boy and suddenly Kai noticed the mood of the group change. He started to cross the street, just in case.

Another of Yuna’s friends started arguing with the lad. Kai quickened his steps.

Just as he was about to reach the brewing altercation Yuna stepped in between her friend and the boy. Kai reached the group as the boy shoved Yuna and raised his fist to hit her.

Without even thinking about what he was doing his hand s out and grabbed the boy’s wrist with a vice-like grip.

The boy turned and tried to pull free. But, Kai’s grip was too strong for him.

“Let me go, arsehole!” he yelled.

Kai saw that the boy was going to try to hit him with his free hand.

He tightened his grip. And the boy screamed in pain.

Kai eased his grip a fraction, enough to stop the boy from yelling in pain.

“Quit your noise, it’s kinda pathetic.” He said in an empty flat tone.

“I don’t like bullies who pick on women,” he added.

Kai looked around at the other four boys who were slowly backing away.

“I’m going to release your friend,” he said to them, “then I’m going to count to ten. If you’re not out of my sight by the count to ten I’m going to chase you down, tear your legs off and beat you to death with the wet end!” He released his grip on the lead trouble maker.

“One, two, three, four….” Kai began his count. He didn’t put any spaces between each count.

All five boys turned and bolted as if their lives depended on it.

Who was this guy? Yuna looked at her rescuer. He was tall. Over six-foot tall! He has a large bushy black beard that looked uncombed. He was wearing an oversize jacket zipped up to his neck that looked like it was hiding a bit of a belly. And a black cap and sunglasses.

“Thank you, Oppa..” she said hesitantly.

The large man looked at her and smiled.

“No worries,” he said. “My name is Kai. I hope you excuse me for butting in. I couldn’t just walk on when pretty girls are about to get hurt.”

“It’s okay, Oppa,” Choa said.

“That dickhead was lucky you stepped in, Oppa,” Hyejeong piped in, “I was about to go beast mode on his arse!”

Kai chuckled. “Yeah, I thought you looked like you could handle them.”

“Do you know those guys?” he asked.

Another of Yuna’s friends answered, “No we don’t. They’re probably just some Antis who have a hate on our group. Thanks for intervening, Oppa. I’m Jimin the leader of AOA” she stuck her hand out. Kai shook it.

The girls proceeded to make their introductions until finally Kai met the girl that’s taken his breath away.

“Hello, Oppa. My name is…” she began.

“Yuna,” Kai finished.

Another stunning brunette – Seolhyun quickly said, “Whoa!! How did you know her name, Oppa?”

Caught off guard Kai had to think fast, “ah, one of you girls must’ve yelled out her name.” Pfft, right!

But, they seem to buy it.

“Are those guys from around here?” Kai asked.

“I don’t recognize them,” a pretty girl named Mina said.

“I don’t want to be forward, but maybe I can walk with you for a few minutes? Just to make sure they don’t come back and harass you?”

The girls were thankful for his offer. They talked and asked questions as the group along with Kai continued to walk back to AOA’s dorm rooms.
