The Set up

The first time it wasn't obvious yet. Jaebum and Jackson had agreed to hang out with them at a local coffee shop. Everything had been fine, until both Jackson and Jaebum had left all of a sudden, saying they still had stuff to do. Mark and Jinyoung didn't really mind and spent the afternoon together.

The second time it wasn't obvious either, it was just two of their friends pulling a prank on them. Jaebum and Jackson had locked them in a classroom together. They had both been furious and spent their whole time in there contemplating how to kill them. In the evening a teacher came in to get something and found the two boys passed out on each other in the classroom.

The third time it became suspicious. They were assigned to do a group project. Normally Jinyoung and Jaebum would always do group projects together, but now Jaebum just pushed him towards Mark and hopped off to work with Jackson. Not that Jinyoung had a problem working with Mark, and Mark with Jinyoung, they just both found their friends were acting a little strange. Stranger than usual that is.

The fourth time it was plain strange. They had decided to go to the theme park with the four of them, only Jackson and Jaebum never showed up. Mark and Jinyoung had the time of their life together, going on rides and eating cotton candy. Still they couldn't help but think it was suspicious. Jackson would never miss going to the theme park.

"You know" jinyoung said to Mark when Jaebum and Jackson had left them alone at dance practice again.

"I think Jaebum has a crush on you" He stated. He was hurt a little, but it was obvious his best friend had feelings for Mark, why else would he be acting so suspicious.

"Yeah and I think Jackson had somewhat of a crush on you, why else would they be acting so strange" Mark responded sounding slightly hurt too. "He keeps talking about you."

"Jaebum keeps talking about you too" Jinyoung said not looking at Mark. He'll admit he liked the older, a lot actually, but if Jaebum liked him too he would grant them happines, even if it meant drowning himself in his own sorrow.

Mark sighed and slid to the ground. He rubbed his face with his hands. He didn't want Jackson to like Jinyoung, he wanted Jinyoung to himself. Still he had already made up his mind, if Jinyoung was happier with Jackson then so it'd be.

"What do we do" he said trying to keep his voice steady. Jinyoung sat down next to him and he could feel his whole body heat up from the younger's presence.

"We wait" Jinyoung said. He could almost feel the inches between his and Mark's arm. As long as neither Jackson or Jaebum made a move, why rush it? They could still spend the time they had together.

"Do you like Jackson" Mark asked. He didn't want to know the answer, and at the same time he did. He was afraid, but if Jinyoung liked Jackson too it would be easier for him to let him go. He had never felt this strongly for anyone, but he had never dared to tell Jinyoung.

Jinyoung looked up to see their reflections in the mirror. Mark's head was bent towards his knees so Jinyoung couldn't see his face. "Yes" he said still looking in the mirror. He saw Mark look up. "I like him" he paused "but just as a friend" he finally said looking at Mark in the mirror.

Mark's head almost burst by hearing that. He still had a chance, but he could never make the first step. Most of the time he could read Jinyoung like an open book, but if he wanted Jinyoung was an expert at hiding his emotions. He couldn't read him on this at all. He was clueless.

Jinyoung shuffled a little closer and put his head on Mark's shoulder. Butterflies erupted in Jinyoung's stomach and Mark could feel electricity run through his body.

"Do you like Jaebum" Jinyoung asked carefully. "Yes, but as a friend" Mark said managing to keep his voice steady. Jinyoung smiled at him in the mirror and all Mark could do was smile back. Jinyoung loved Mark's  smile, it always managed to make his heart race.

"So we wait?" Jinyoung now asked. "They'll be ditching us all the time anyway, so there's not much to do" Mark asnwered with a chuckle. Jinyoung nodded.
--
"So what do you think of Jinyoung" Jackson asked. Mark and Jackson were eating lunch together, something that had become rare. Mark almost got angry, he knew Jinyoung didn't like Jackson but he couldn't help but feel like he got stabbed every time Jackson started about Jinyoung.

"If you like the guy so much, why don't you just ask him out" he said coolly, trying to hide his anger while he continued eating. Jackson almost choked on his food.

"What" he managed to cough out. "You obviously like him that's why you're avoiding him right?" Mark continued.

"No no" Jackson almost yelled waving his hands in denial. Mark looked at him confused. "I don't like him". "I promise" he continued as Mark's face didn't change expression. "Ok" he slowly said, and they continued eating.
--
"Hey Jaebum" Jinyoung said as Jaebum looked up from his book. They were in the library studying together, which didn't happen a lot anymore. Jaebum nodded.

"Do you like Mark" he blurted out. Jaebum looked at him in shock. "You could tell me, you know that right" he continued. "No I don't like Mark, what makes you think so" Jaebum asnwered confused.

"I don't know" jinyoung said scratching his nape "You and Jackson just seem to be avoiding us lately" he admitted. "That's not because I like Mark" Jaebum said chuckling, not even denying they had been avoiding them.
--
"Jaebum doesn't like you"
"Jackson doesn't like you"
They blurted it out at the same time when Mark stormed into the practice room where Jinyoung was waiting for him. They looked at each other confused and relieved and then they both started laughing.

Jinyoung put down the book he had been reading as Mark sat down next to him. Mark leaned into him a little. "Interogated him did you?" He asked laughter still evident on his face.

"I didn't" Jinyoung said face heating up "I just asked him" he added. Mark laughed again. "You 'just' asked" he said and Jinyoung laughed too.

"I still don't get why they have been behaving so strange though" Jinyoung admitted. They thought they had figured out the reason to their behaviour, but now that their theory was proven wrong they had to find another reason.

"Maybe they're in a relationship together" Jinyoung suggested. "Or they just hate us" Mark said while putting his haid on Jinyoung's shoulder, Jinyoung chuckled. Jinyoung put his arm around Mark's waist, their actions natural, them being completely comfortable around each other.

"Are you tired" Jinyoung asked. He could feel Mark's head heavily on his shoulder. Mark just hummed. "Maybe we should skip practice today" he suggested. Mark just nodded in agreement. They both got up, Jinyoung's arm sill around Mark's waist now more supporting him.
--
"Maaaaark, Mark, hey Mark! "

"What is it Jackson" Mark said frustrated while looking up from his phone.

"Tomorrow is Valentine's day" Jackson said in as sweet voice, with an even sweeter smile.
"I know" Mark dully said.

"So how about we go to the amusement park with the four of us" Jackson said still smiling like he was trying to persuade Mark.

"Just for you to ditch us again" Mark said bitterly still not trusting Jackson.

"No no!" Jackson exclaimed "No ditching anymore. Promise" he said putting a hand to his heart. Mark just sighed.
--
"Hey Jinyoung" Jaebum said sitting down at he table Jinyoung was seated. He was in the library revising some last theory.

"Ah, to what do I owe this pleasure" Jinyoung said looking up from his book. He hadn't seen Jaebum outside of classes for a while now.

"Tomorrow is Valentine's day so Jackson and I thought it would be nice to go to the amusement park. You in?" He said an uncomfortable look on his face like he knew that he had been a terrible friend for the past weeks.

"Alright, alright. Forgiven and forgotten, I'll joing you" Jinyoung said smiling brightly at his friend's stupidity.
--
Mark didn't say anything as he came into Jinyoung's room and immediately dropped himself on the bed next to Jinyoung who had been reading a book.

"Hello to you too" Jinyoung said with a chuckle. Mark just hummed. "Jaebum told you about the theme park thing right?" He asked straight to the point. "Yes" Jinyoung answered.

"Why on Valentine's day?" Mark asked. "I mean we could have gone any day of the week, any weekend, why tomorrow?"

"Maybe they like each other but don't dare to say so they take us?" Jinyoung suggested a questioned look on his face.

"I get their pain" Mark huffed out without thinking about it. "What" Jinyoung exclaimed. "Nothing" Mark too quickly denied.

"You like someone" Jinyoung said in a teasing voice trying to hide his hurt. "No I don't" Mark asnwered waving his hands in denial. "Yes you do" Jinyoung said still teasing the poor boy. "Who is it" he asked.

"I told you, there's no one" Mark kept holding up. Suddenly Jinyoung turned and let his body hover over Mark's. "If you don't tell me who it is, I'll tickle you" he threatened seriously. Mark laughed at the younger's silliness and he shouldn't have done that.

Jinyoung immediately attacked his sides with his fingers. Mark instantly started laughing, not being able to withstand the tickling. He started turning to get away from Jinyoung but Jinyoung wouldn't let him go.

"Alright alright, please mercy" Mark begged and Jinyoung stopped his tickling and dropped himself next to a panting Mark. "We'll go to the theme park with them and see where it goes" Mark said still avoiding Jinyoung's question.

"That didn't answer my question" Jinyoung replied, but he didn't ask about it again. Partially because he knew Mark wouldn't answer anyways, and partially because he didn't want to know.

"What would you do with the knowledge anyway" Mark asked genuinely interested. "I don't know, set you up or something" he replied vaguely.

It took some time before both of them realized but then something clicked in both of their heads. "You'd set me up" Mark repeated. They both turned their heads towards each other only to quickly turn away again because of how close their faces were, both of them turning bright red.

"They're trying to set us up, aren't they" Jinyoung said softly. Mark hummed. "But why us" Jinyoung asked. "I don't know" was the only thing mark replied.

He quickly got up "well I'll see you tomorrow then, bye" he said hastily before almost running out of the door. Jinyoung wanted to chuckle at his actions but he was too lost in his thoughts to think about it again.
--
Jinyoung and Mark had been waiting for Jackson and Jaebum for ten minutes when they finally arrived.

"There you are, I almost thought you'd be ditching us again" Mark said in a scolding tone. "No way, I promised right" Jackson replied with a wide smile. "Come on let's go" he said before happily skipping into the park. The rest followed him smiles evident on their faces.

"Let's go in there" Jackson said pointing at a haunted house. Especially for Valentine's day they had changed the story of the house, making it about two passed lovers. Before Jinyoung could say anything Jaebum had pushed him into a cart with Mark.

They entered the haunted house and it was almost completely dark. "Mark" he softly whispered. Mark almost chuckled.

He knew his friend well enough to know that Jinyoung wasn't one for haunted houses. Jinyoung wasn't scared of anything at all, but he couldn't handle horror movies or haunted houses. He remembered they had once watched a horror movie and Jinyoung had hid his face in Mark's chest and hadn't looked up for the entire movie.

"Come here" he said opening his arm. Jinyoung immediately shuffled into Mark hiding his face in Mark's neck inhaling Mark's familiar scent. Even in the dark they found each other easily, already used to the movement. Mark didn't see anything of the haunted house, concentrating on Jinyoung the whole time.

When they came out Mark's arm was still around Jinyoung's shoulders. They were walking towards Jackson and Jaebum who were happily chatting about the ride. "So what did you think" Jackson asked.

"Uhm" Jinyoung said while looking down.

"Oh, whatever let's just get food" Jaebum said impatiently. They stalked off and Jinyoung and Mark quickly followed them.

In the restaurant they had decorated almost everything with pink and red and even some of the waiters gave roses to customers so that the customers could give them to the person they love. If you got a rose you had to give it away and you were allowed to give it to anyone you wanted, or so the waiters informed the boys when they got in.

Mark looked at the roses anxiously. What if they gave one to him, what would he do. As they were reading their menu Jackson received a rose, he happily got up and gave it to a girl sitting at a table close to theirs.the girl and her friends started giggling and he girl hid her face in her hands. Jackson stalked back confidently.

Mark nervously eyed the waiters with the roses again. Suddenly he felt a hand take his under the table. He looked up to Jinyoung to see him smiling at him reassuringly. Of course Jinyoung knew exactly what he was thinking. He smiled back. Neither of them noticing Jackson and Jaebum eyeing them in mock disgust.

Once they had gotten their food a waiter suddenly handed Mark a rose. Mark's head emmidiately started spinning. He looked at the rose like it could poison him. "What's wrong" Jaebum said amused. "What do I do with it" Mark said desperate.

"I don't know man" Jackson said laughing at his friend "just give it to the most attractive person here or something" he continued like it was as simple as one plus one.

Mark thought for a while than turned to Jinyoung and handed him the rose. "For me" Jinyoung asked suprised. Mark nodded "for the most attractive person here" he said. Jinyoung chuckled and took the rose from Mark. "Well thank you" he replied smiling.

"I'm just gonna go to the toilet real quick" Jackson suddenly chocked out. Jaebum muttered something about going too, and they both left swiftly. Jinyoung and Mark quickly glanced at each other and just continued eating.

"For God's sake, what do we have to do" Jackson exclaimed desperately to an equally desperate looking Jaebum. "They are head over heels with each other, we have given them plenty of space, and still nothing. Nothing" Jackson continued throwing his hands in the air.

"Maybe they're just not meant to get together" Jaebum said. "But honestly I just needed to go to the toilet" Jaebum said sheepishly as Jackson groaned in frustration.
--
After they finished eating they decided to go on some rides. They all had a good time teasing Jackson about his not-so-manly screams. When night fell they decided to check out some arcade games. Jackson and Jaebum excitedly ran into the arcade.

"Hey wanna go on the Ferris wheel" Mark asked Jinyoung while pointing at the big lit up Ferris wheel behind them. "Sure" Jinyoung said happily. They didn't even bother to let Jackson and Jaebum know as they were no where to be found, and started making their way towards the Ferris wheel.

They were shoved into a cart and the Ferris wheel started moving. Jinyoung was looking outside, but the only thing Mark was looking at was Jinyoung. Mark had grown so familiar with Jinyoung's profile and still it never tired him to look at how his eyes wrinkeled when he laughed or how his jawline and lips were formed.

Actually he was also a little afraid of heights. He knew Jinyoung didn't know this, so he just kept looking at the younger instead of looking outside. Jinyoung turned to look at him only to find Mark already watching him. They stared at each other and Jinyoung felt like he could drown in Mark's beautiful dark eyes.

Without even noticing it Mark was bringing his face closer to Jinyoung's until they were only inches apart, still staring at each other. "You're afraid of heights, aren't you" Jinyoung whispered not daring to speak aloud.

"Yup" Mark admitted with a sheepish smile on his face "but I can look at you instead" he cheekily added. "Where did you come from, the cheese factory" Jinyoung said chuckling a little. Mark smiled at him, and he returned an eternally bright smile.

"I have an answer to your question" Mark said moving away a little. "What question" Jinyoung asked a little disappointed at their sudden distance.

"I know why they're trying to set us up" Mark said. "You do" Jinyoung breathed out.

Mark didn't know what happened but suddenly he felt brave. Maybe it was the fact that he felt like he was on top of the world so high up in the Ferris wheel, maybe it was the fact he was alone with Jinyoung, maybe it was none of those.

The point is he was doing it. He was confessing, he knew that if he didn't do it now, sooner or later he would lose Jinyoung. He could either lose him now or keep him, but it had to be now.

"I like you Jinyoung, I like you a lot" he managed to say without stuttering. Jinyoung's face turned bright red and he quickly turned away from Mark to look out of the window. Mark, still feeling brave, scooted closer to him and whispered in his ear "it's true."

Jinyoung shivered from Mark's voice so close to his ear. Heat ran through his whole body and his heart was beating faster than it ever had. He turned his face back to Mark only to find their faces even closer than they had been some minutes ago.

He didn't even hesitate when he put his lips on Mark's. When Mark didn't respond emmidiately he started feeling afraid, but then Mark responded to the kiss with great passion.

Mark's hand slid through Jinyoung's hair and Jinyoung thew his arms around Mark's neck. The kiss was simple yet passionate, showing all the feelings they had been keeping hidden for so long now.

Jinyoung was the first to pull away gasping for air. He looked at Mark face still red from embarrassment. "Took you long enough" he said.

First Mark smiled, but then he saw Mark's face drop as he didn't say the words back, exactly what he was waiting for. "Don't worry I like you too idiot" he said burrying his face on Mark's shoulder to hide his still red cheeks.

Mark laughed out loud. "You're really cute when you get shy, you know that right" he said to a still embarrassed Jinyoung. Mark Jinyoung's hair. "Jinyoungie" he said. Jinyoung hummed.

"Will you be my boyfriend" he asked slightly hesitant. Jinyoung looked up in suprise, his face growing a very familiar red again.

"I really badly want to say yes, but that would mean that Jackson and Jaebum succeeded in their devilish attempts to get us together" he said while smiling. Mark smiled as widely as he possibly could. "I'll take that as a yes then" he said. Jinyoung nodded.

Mark threw an arm around his shoulder and pulled him closer, the two of them looking out of the window together, Jinyoung absentmindedly playing with Mark's fingers.

When it was time to get out Mark grabbed Jinyoung's hand and intertwined their fingers. Jinyoung looked at their hands and then looked at Mark who was smiling at him. It was a strange feeling to finally hold his hand, but it was definitely something he wanted to get used to.

They walked out to see Jackson and Jaebum already waiting for them outside. They looked from their intertwined hands to their faces and then at each other. "Finally" Jackson cried out "What on earth took you so ing long" Jackson continued while Jaebum smacked him for his outburst.

They walked up to them and the four of them walked out of the theme park together, while Jackson kept firing questions at them and Jaebum kept smacking him for his shamelessness.
