Our Burrito is Crisis

Jungkook tried his best, to say the least. It’s not so much to ponder that Jimin worked so hard for the burrito. And Jungkook could see that – he could see that but made such little actions to stop himself from eating it. He knew he was in the wrong. He knew, from even the first step he made towards the table, to the flare of his nostrils – because it smelled so, so, good, he knew.

But when the dominance of the opposing force is too strong, you can’t help but kneel and give in – and Jungkook did so.

The nearer he got to the table where the glorious burrito was placed, his guilt lessened; his eyes set on the sweet and savory snack splayed out in the open.

And then Jungkook took it, held it as if it was fragile – as if it was thin ice.

He took a bite.

And another, and another.

He moaned.

He savored the taste, the softness, the texture, the heaven that is the burrito itself. But time was not on his side, he knew that much, so he ate on a much faster pace, careful not to miss the glorious taste. After he had finished, it was like there was no burrito in the first place, with Jungkook having erased all the evidence of its existence.

But Jungkook failed to notice the small figure who was watching everything unfold inside the kitchen… the scene of the crime.

Hodgkins.

“Jungkook?” Hodgkin’s voice was trembling, too shocked by what he had just witnessed. Jungkook immediately turned around at the sound of Hodgkin’s voice.

“H-hyung,” Jungkook stammered, “I can explain, hyung.”

But the other man just shook his head, tears visibly dying to fall.

“You promised Jimin you’d eat my lamb skewers, and my lamb skewers only. What is there to explain?”

“Hodgkins-yung, I’m sorry,” Jungkook pleaded, all the while trying to clean his mouth with a tissue, “I-I didn’t mean to, hyung!”

“Jeon Jungkook,” Hodgkins raised his voice, “shut up. Shut the up, Jungkook. This is what’s wrong with you! You don’t ing think, you don’t think about what Jimin has gone through, you act without consent, and you don’t even give two s about it. I know you, and I know your apologies mean nothing, Jungkook.” Hodgkins heaved a sigh. “Go and apologize to Jimin, even if your words come out empty.”

Hodgkins walked out of the kitchen, disappointment so visibly etched on his face. Jungkook tried to follow, but didn’t have the courage. He knew Hodgkins was right. Jimin gave his heart out into making the burrito, sweat and blood were sacrificed.

Jungkook had never bothered to ask for permission. It’s because of his shyness, of how he couldn’t muster up the courage to at least even ask about anything at all, of how pathetic he was with his words.

He didn’t dare cry. Tears were a sign of fragility to Jungkook. And he wasn’t. He was strong, he knew, strong enough to go over the gates of his cowardice. He has weaknesses, but he was versatile.

He turned back to the table, his eyes on the plate that once had the burrito on it. And he thought of Jimin, of how happy he was making the burrito, despite the signs of tiredness making their way through his eyes.

Jungkook had asked everyone in the dorm where Jimin went, but no one knew, so decided he’d search for Jimin outside, despite having no clue as to his whereabouts. He could have just waited, as Jin had suggested, but he waved it off, and so went outside. And Jungkook noticed the glow of the place, the radiance of the sun reflecting the atmosphere of the streets, and he despised it; he despised the people's faces he saw, how they were all plastered with genuine happiness, and how he was the complete opposite. He was as dull as his eyes had ever been and he despised it. Jungkook a corner and finally saw Jimin, who was carrying a paper bag.

Jungkook ran towards the unaware smaller male, and hugged him so tight, that Jimin had no time to react. Jimin was more than happy to see Jungkook, but had never really expected for the younger to hug him out of the blue, and outside their dorm at that.

People were staring, whispers and murmurs surrounded the area, but Jungkook could care less.

Jimin was, apparently, worried. "J-Jungkook?" Jimin was blushing nonetheless, tightly wrapped around strong arms, and he could feel Jungkook's hot breath on his nape. He followed through the other's actions, and returned the hug, the paper bag he's been holding on to dropped on the gray pavement. "What’s wrong?"

Jungkook tightened his hug even more, "Hyung, I-Im sorry." Jimin grew anxious. Jungkook was never like this. "I'm sorry, hyung. I- , hyung, I- I ate your burrito, hyung!"

Jimin flinched at the sudden outburst, "K-Kookie!" he exclaimed, desperation in his voice.

And Jungkook, despite the tension, despite the sudden tightness of Jimin's arms around him, he couldn't help but question the other's reaction; Why isn't he mad? Why does Jimin sound as if he's worried about Jungkook-- as if he's erasing the space between them?

He should have pushed Jungkook away, he should be mad. Jimin should be- Jungkook ate his only burrito.

"Jungkook, why did you do that?" Jimin's hands were shaking as he raised one to slowly caress Jungkook's tear stained cheeks.

"Why- why aren't you mad, hyung?" Jungkook sniffed, "I ate your precious burrito, hyung!"

Jimin's eyes were glistening, tears desperately wanting to escape the bars that Jimin so hopelessly lodged into his eyelids. "No, no no no, you don't understand, Jungkook! That burrito has gone bad, I don't know what happened but when I tasted it a bit, my stomach felt like it was goings to explode," Jimin exclaimed, "I felt so dizzy I couldn't get up for hours! I don't know what happened to my burrito but you shouldn't have eaten it, Jungkook!"

Jungkook couldn't believe what Jimin said.

"Oh, no, Kookie, you shouldn't have eaten it!" Jimin added. The passers-by were still staring at them, some stopped, some didn't. But Jimin nor Jungkook could care less. Jimin didn't miss the look of worry on Jungkook's face, as he smiled and added, "It's ok, Jungkook, you're gonna be ok, alright?"

"Hyung, wait- the burrito was bad? As in... harmful to the body... or?"

"I think so, Jungkook. I don't know what happened! I just- I just don't want you to get hurt because of me."

Jimin tried to let go of Jungkook's arms so that they could walk to the hospital, but he noticed that Jungkook couldn’t move, and Jungkook's upper body was limp. Jimin’s upper body the younger's only support.

"Jungkook?" Jimin shook his shoulders, "Hey! Jeon Jungkook?!"

The last thing Jungkook saw was Jimin’s crying face, and then everything turned black.

Jimin's eyes were the geniune reflection of the weather that day-- dull, gray. Days passed; apologies went fast. Jungkook has still not woken up.

The doctor couldn't exactly tell if he would ever wake up but Jimin never lost hope, nor he'll ever be.

Hodgkins visited them regularly, along with Jung HoSHOOK with a capital SHOOK. They talked about life, love, lamb skewers, and their careers.

Jimin kept blaming himself, despite the other members' desperate attempts to stop him. It wasn't Jimin's fault, that they knew, but still couldn't help but think that if he hadn't left the burrito on the table that day, Jungkook wouldn't have gotten into this situation.

Jimin had waited. Days, weeks, months. He'd cry, he'd shout, he'd whisper sweet nothings to Jungkook, praying that he would at least hear his cries of wanting him back, of wanting him to wake up because "I made new and safe burritos for you, Kookie."

But never did Jimin see even the slightest twitch of Jungkook's fingers. He watched, observed, waited. And he would do it every day and nothing ever happened.

He would cook burritos every single day because if Jungkook were to wake up, then he'd have fresh burritos to eat.

But Jimin knew. Jimin knew Jungkook would never wake up.

And he knew, that Jungkook has moved on to another life.

Legend has it that Jimin is still crying up to this day.

Why did Jungkook eat the burrito…
