Bodyguard

Description

Who am I?

Ever since I could remember, my father loved my brothers more than he would ever love me. He was always training them to become the next owners of the huge company he had built from the ground up; Shinhan Company, a very popular banking corporation. My mother, on the other hand, passed away before I was even able to form a memory of her, and I was forced to move out and live with my grandparents because I was a bother to the "men of the house." A funeral was hosted for her, but I was never allowed to attend for "privacy matters". Nothing made sense to me then, but I assume it was because my father didn't want any of his children to see him at his weakest. Although mother was gone, my brothers and I had a very strong bond. Park ShiWoo, Park Jimin, and I, the inseparable trio.

As we all grew, my father soon began to force my older brothers into manner classes, etc, making them mature quicker than normal teenagers should. In a blink of an eye, the inseparable trio fell apart infront of my own little eyes and we all became distant. Soon afterwards, Jimin fell under the pressure and abandoned the idea of being an heir to the throne of the company. I could never understand the exact situation he was in, but I felt sympathy for him. I knew my father's expectations could be rather high, and almost impossible to reach. I never saw him again afterwards.

On the other hand, as I was living with my grandparents, my father paid for my taekwondo classes, shooting classes, parkour classes, etc. He wanted me to be knowledgable about self defense, be able to defend others, and be alert at all times.

As I reached the age of 18, I realized that when he said he wanted me to be able to defend others, he meant defending my brother, ShiWoo, the future heir to his company.

My name is Park Hee-Young, and I am my brother's bodyguard.

Foreword

It all started on a bright Tuesday afternoon.

"Yo. What'cha got for me today? I say and jump over the desk, then slide into my rolling chair. My partner in crime, Kim Soo Jin looks over his shoulder, his glasses reflecting the bright sun that's coming through the open window. He scoffs and continues typing on his computer.

"Well, a couple cases came in today. Nothing very "in-your-face" type of thing though," he finally answers, his slender fingers still gliding across his keyboard nonstop.

Introducing, Kim Soo Jin. Top of the class hacker, types 173 words per minute approximately, has an amazing sense of accuracy, and a total "people" person. Despite the fact that he is rather serious in nature, he absolutely LOVES cats and has a weirdly disgusting soft spot for them. He has a whole lifestyle based on cats; what he calls the 3 k's: "kawaii kat kulture". Seriously. His post it notes are cat shaped, and his mouse pad was custom made by him to portray a picture of his pet cat, Leonor. He's also insisting on knitting a sweater made of his cat's loose fur, but I'm talking him out of it as much as I can. Despite the fact that he's a hacker, he makes TONS of money and is definitely well off.

"Anything new Agent Park Hee-Young?" he nonchalantly asks.

Introducing me, Park Hee-Young. Top class parkour professional, top of the class at self defense and taekwondo, and a V.I.P at Shinhan Company; mainly because I'm the daughter of the owner, and because I'm the most valuable bodyguard hired there. Yes, a bodyguard. It might sound cliche, but I've always wanted to have some action in my life. Probably because I grew up with 2 older brothers and have never touched a single doll throughout my childhood. Several footballs though, and a gun once when I was 8 because my dad took me to the shooting range, but enough about me.

"I had icecream this morning and now my belly is giving me bad news," I complained and crouched down on the floor, holding my growling stomach.

"Tch, to be you. Our lives are pretty ty and dead. When are we going to have a real case again. Look at this. An old lady loses one of her cats. Please help search for it. What kind of bull is this? Knowing cats, it probably ventures off and comes back at night but she doesn't hear it. Did I mention the article also says she's deaf?" Lee Soo Jin remarked, boredly scrolling through the 1000+ requests that were being sent to us, Undercover Special Agents aka (USA).

"Oh, we're undercover agents alright. So undercovered and special that we get the privilege of finding an old lady's cat," I sarcastically answered and proceeded to lay like a starfish on the floor.

"How professional of you." Soo Jin rotates his rolling chair around and faces me, crossing his legs and folding his arms.

"SAYS THE ONE WITH CATS EVERYWHERE ON HIS WORK DESK."

He opens his mouth to retort when suddenly his phone rings.

"You are my everything ~" (OST from My Love From Another Star plays) He picked it up almost immediately, his face visibly bright red.

"Yes sir...yes. Alrght then. I'll make sure she knows about this immediately. Yes...we're on it sir. Yes, it's no problem. It is only our duty. We will get to it sir. Alright. Goodbye." He turned to look at me, rubbing the back of his neck and cracking it.

"Turns out-"

"First of all, what was that ringtone about?" I cut in, trying to contain my laughter.

"That...was. Nothing," he bit back sternly and opened his mouth to continue what he was saying before.

"No seriously, tell me what that was about. You can trust me," I said and bursted out in a fit of chuckles.

"...ALRIGHT FINE. THE CEO IS HOT ALRIGHT? GOD, LEAVE ME ALONE. But that was Mr.Owner of the Corporation, AKA your father. I guess he was calling from the CEO's phone..." he replied while fanning himself.

"If only you were attracted to women. You're so well kept and attractive~" I admitted, fake crying. "So unfortunate~"

He scoffed and looked at me. "Yah, even if I was straight, I would definitely not choose you. Look at that track suit you're wearing; so boy-ish. Anyways! Good and bad news. Good news, we'll be getting to spend time with the CEO~ Ahhhh!" Soo Jin exclaimed, fangirling.

"Only good news for you. I haven't seen my brother in so long, I could almost care less. He's a jerk. I don't see why it's important to protect him. Remember? We didn't leave on really good terms," I reminded.

"The bad news is exactly that. You and I have specifically been assigned to protect him. Someone is trying to assassinate him..."

I turned to look at him in surprise. I mean, I don't care about him, but that's still my brother.I immediately stood up and walked out of the office.

"YAH! Where are you going?" Soo Jin called from behind.

"No time to waste!" I replied and ran to the room where my work clothes were placed, to get dressed.

"Park Hee Young-ah! Slow down! Hey! Calm down!" Soo Jin shouted after me. I quickly shut the pantry door and threw on my white button up, business jacket, and pencil skirt.

"Get dressed Soo Jin! We have business to tend to!" I demanded from inside the room.

"But I thought you hated your brother!"

I stopped dressing for a second to think and hesitantly continued. "I know, I know, I know. But, I have a reason to." After putting on my 3 inched heels, I sped walk out of the building, and spotted the limo that was already waiting for us. "Take me to the Shinhan Company please."

The butler nodded his head and we took off as soon as Soo Jin jumped in the car with his laptop.

"So, it's a woman." Footsteps and the metallic sound of a gun could be heard.

Hey everyone! This is going to be my first fanfic yet (:

I hope you all enjoyed the intro, and I'm terribly sorry for the long foreword, but I got a little too caught up ~ Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and if you enjoyed, please subscribe to stay in tune because I will be updating often~! Thank you for supporting me! (p.s: excuse the horrible poster. I haven't made posters in awhile and my skills are a bit rusty but I will definitely be making more posters to add on, since this story isn't all based on an angsty feel, and my current poster is angsty af LOL.)
