Sealing Our Fate

Fated

The female shifts nervously, pulling down on the end of her dress. It was 6:58 PM and Yoongi told her that he would pick her up at 7 PM. She had started to get ready a good hour and half earlier so she wouldn’t have to rush. Jimin had done everything: shower, hair, makeup, clothes, accessories, and perfume. But, the nerves in her body wasn’t letting her sit still. She kept going back to the mirror in her bathroom to check her reflection. Her hands kept adjusting the white long sleeved a-line dress that hugged perfectly at her waist, shyly bringing out the curves that she would always hid behind her baggy t-shirts. The white made her skin look even paler in contrast t her long black hair, the curled ends softly swaying as she walked. She looked great - she hasn’t dressed up this well since a few years ago. It still didn’t make her feel any better though.

When the bell rang, a deep sigh released and she quickly headed to the door with her heels on and purse in hand. She opened the door and was met with a whistle and grin.

“Shut up.”

The male raised his hands in defense. “I’m complimenting you, there’s nothing wrong with that.”

“Then use words rather than eyeing me up and down as if I’m fresh meat,” she bites back. She locks the door behind them and they begin to head down the steps of her front porch and into the driveway.

“Sorry, my bad,” Yoongi took out his keys to unlock the door of his black sudan. “You look beautiful tonight.”

He opens the car door for Jimin as if it was a peace offering to apologize for what he did. Jamie only gave him a knowing smile and got into the car without a word. The latter walked to the driver’s side and jumped in, starting the engine and driving out onto the streets.

“Are you ready?” he asked, earning him a confused look from the girl.

“For the party? Well, I would hope so. I didn’t dress up like this for nothing.”

He rolled his eyes. “Are you ready to get your man.”

She almost choked on her own spit. “J-Jimin Oppa is not my man!” she sputtered, she bet her ears were turning read.

Her senior grinned at her. “I never said it was Jimin.”

Realizing she had fallen right into his trap, she punched the side of his arm and earned a yelp from the other, who complained immediately. “You’re mean.”

“Hey, I’m just trying to help my precious junior but here I am, getting beat for it instead.”

“I didn’t ask for help,” she argued, arms crossed.

He gave a look, which was mirrored back from the girl. The male huffed. “Okay, fine. I won’t do anything. Let’s just enjoy ourselves tonight then, okay Jimina?”

The girl stared at the male, checking to see if there’s any more traces of playfulness or lies. Once she didn’t find any, a small smile appeared on her face. “Thank you Oppa.”

Jimin should’ve known Yoongi was never one to keep to his promises, especially if it was for his amusement. They had arrived at the venue a half hour ago and the event was held in a ballroom of a hotel. They dropped the male’s car off in valet and entered the grand hotel lobby. After checking in with the table in front, the pair entered the party arms linked like any other couple. Tables were set surrounding the large stage planted in the middle. There stood a podium with a mic, while the walls had two large screens on each side. Lights and streamers decorated the walls, trying to bring more of a festive mood to the formal affair.

Yoongi, being an important role of the collaboration project, had to talk to numerous people as soon as they walked in. The two only had received a glass of champagne from a server before being greeted by prospective investors. Jamie politely greeted them with a smile and stood alongside the two males as they talked about business matters, sometimes nodding a little to show she was listening. Occasionally, she would meet eyes with a few of the businessmen’s partners and shared a sympathetic expression which was mirrored back in return. Jamie doesn’t know if Yoongi noticed the impatience that started to build up or he just felt sorry (both she felt bad for, but she couldn’t help it), he excused himself politely, saying he would catch up again once they grabbed something to eat. Jamie bowed as well and the two turned to walk towards the catering table that she eyed the moment she walked in.

“Sorry, the guy can talk for a long time.” He rested his hand at the bottom of her back. She was startled a little but didn’t think too much about it - he was always pretty friendly with her since college anyways.

Jamie gave an understanding glance. “It’s fine. This is your project anyways.” They reached the table and she handed a plate to the male, who took it gratefully. “Let’s finally get something to eat.”

The two filled their plates and started to look for their spot at the tables to eat. Just as they were crossing the room, she heard her name get called.

“Jimin!”

She turned and as soon as she did, regret flushed her body.

“O-oh, Jimin Oppa.”

He waved while walking closer to the pair. He also greeted Yoongi, who gave a nod in return. Jamie didn’t miss the mischievous glint that appeared for a second in his eyes though.

“Did you just arrive?” she politely asked and took the chance to get a good look at the other, who stood in front of her. He wore a navy blue blazer over a black button up, paired with black slacks. His hair was perfectly combed to the side to display his handsome features without a strand in his face. She hoped her staring wasn't obvious since the latter didn’t seem to be fazed and answered her question.

“I’m in charge of setting the event up so I was here from the beginning.”

She frowned with worry. “You must be really tired then.”

The male Jimin chuckled and shook his head. “It’s nothing I can’t handle. I would say the project was more tiring than the actual event. Right, Yoongi-shi?”

The older male laughed in response and nodded. “But, you should stop and rest for a while. Everything is already set, so get a drink and some food.”

Jimin checks his watch and nods. “I guess I will since I have time. I’ll catch up with you guys, we’re sitting the same table anyways.”

Yoongi and Jamie walked towards their assigned table which was in front of the stage. He had pushed the chair out for her and she smiled appreciatively. The two sat down and started to nibble on their food slowly.

“He looks quite handsome today doesn’t he?”

Yoongi seemed to have a skill at almost making Jamie choke on her food. She swore, he better be CPR certified because one day she will really choke because of him. “C-can you please be quiet?!”

He smirked and leaned forward so that he was close to her ear. “Hey, you weren’t the only one looking at him. He was looking at you as soon as we came in.”

Hearing this information, her cheeks turned red and looked at him wide-eyed. “W-what are you talking about?! We didn’t even see him when we walked in.”

“You didn’t but I sure the hell did and felt it especially,” he whistled. “He might as well stab me with a real dagger with the amount of glares he was sending me.”

She rolled her eyes, there was no way the Jimin she knew would do something like that. “Stop playing around.”

Before the other can argue back, they were interrupted by the sound of a plate being placed on the table. The two looked up and met the gaze of the male Jimin, who gave a tight lipped smile.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you guys,” he said but his voice even sounded unfamiliar to himself. He took a seat near Jamie. “You guys can continue on.”

Jamie blushed and shook her head. “Oh no, it’s okay. It wasn’t anything important.”

Jimin met the gaze of Jamie and gave her a small smile, making the girl feel even more nervous. She fidgeted with her hands which settled awkwardly only her lap.

“Ah,” Jimin began, earning a questionable look from Jamie, “I forgot to mention this. You look beautiful tonight Jimina.”

Oh god, Jamie wished she could evaporate in thin air right now. If she was by herself, she would be screaming but she guessed internally screaming was the only option now. She had to break her eye contact with the other, his warm genuine eyes staring at her soul was a double kill and she couldn’t take it anymore. She looked down at her lap shly. “T-thank you.”

Their moment was interrupted when Yoongi leaned towards Jamie side. “See I told you.”

She tilted her head and scowled at him. “Like I said, words not actions.” Remembering Jimin was still watching, she glanced to see his expression. It was stern and his lips formed a thin line. “Don’t worry Oppa, it’s nothing really. He was just teasing me.”

“It’s okay, it’s not like it’s really my business anyways,” his tone held a hint of annoyance and felt distant. Jamie didn’t bother to say anything else and ate her food quietly. It didn’t taste as good anymore.

The three ate their food silently until Yoongi decided to break the silence once again. “So, Jimin-shi, is your date arriving soon?”
Jamie’s ears perked with interest, she didn’t know he had a date. It was probably the girlfriend she’s been hearing about among her workmates. Just thinking about it made her heart drop. She placed her fork down, her appetite was gone.

The male in question nodded and then took out his phone. “She actually just arrived. I’m going to meet her at the lobby, so I’ll see you guys later.”

Jamie watched as he got up and walked across the room towards the exit while greeting those who just entered.

“You okay Jamie?”

She noticed the worried stare from her senior and she felt bad for bringing down the mood. She gave weak smile. “I need to use the restroom.” She got up and walked out of the ballroom into the long hallways. The click of her heels echoed in her ears and all she wanted is to get out. Then, she saw them.

She halted in her position and watched them from afar.

She watched the hands of the thin female fix the collar of the male, who gave a smile as thanks. Even from a distance, Jamie could already feel the feminine beauty that the female held. The poise and aura surrounding her was alluring. The black dress that clung onto the other’s curves brought out the maturity of her age yet contrasted with her youthful beauty. The female possessed the characteristics that Jamie didn’t have.

Jamie bit her lip and hurriedly walked the opposite direction, hoping he didn’t see her. She followed the sign that led to an outdoor garden.

Air, that’s what she needed.

The cold air wrapped around her body like a blanket but instead of going back in, she preferred the comfort of the cold instead. She walked along the peddlestone pathway, admiring the blooming flowers and neatly cut trees. She had found a stone bench and took a seat. Tired, she slipped her heels off and felt the comfort of soft grass under her feet. A fog formed when she let out a deep sigh, she leaned back and gazed at the night sky. Tonight was cleared of any clouds that can possible obstruct some perfect star gazing. She sighed again, she should message Suga so he won’t get worried. She took out her phone and messaged the other that she was at the garden getting a breather and will return shortly after a few minutes. Slipping her phone back into her clutch, she leaned back to stare at the stars and hoped to forget the feeling sitting heavily on her heart, at least for tonight.

“Jimina?”

She nearly jumped off of the bench but luckily didn’t and soil her perfectly white dress.

“Oh Jimin Oppa!” she exclaimed. She took a quick glance at him but couldn’t bring herself to look straight at him. Instead, she found her fingernails more interesting and kept her head down. She felt the other take a seat next to her and remained quiet.

The night was quiet. It seemed that everyone went back inside because it was getting too cold. Jamie could only hear the sounds of the crickets chirping and the low buzz of music coming from the party.

“It’s just like you to head straight to the garden for fresh air,” the male softy spoke, his voice sounding airy as if he had ran here. Jamie noted this but didn’t think too much of it and pushed it aside.

She blushed. “What do you mean?”

A chuckle bubbled from his chest, which immediately earned Jimin a soft push on the shoulder. “Don’t you remember? When we were young and went to this boring wedding party, you slipped away and I found you at the garden.” The male paused, smiling at the rush of memories. “You wore a white dress just like today. But, instead of me finding you on a bench, I found you on top of a tree branch.”

This made the girl sputter and look away from her lap in order to give him a good beating. “I was a kid then!”

He laughed loudly, his eyes disappearing and pearly teeth on wide display. Jamie felt her heart beating faster and face heating up. She pulled her hands back and shifted her gaze to the flowers in front of her. His laughter softly died down and the silence resumed.

“I didn’t know what to do with you then,” he began again. “You were all the way at the top and I didn’t know how to get you down safely.”

Jamie bit her lip. “Well you rescued me in the end.”

“Yeah I did, but not without a few scratches either.” Jamie could feel his gaze on her but she couldn’t bring herself to look at him back. “The situation with you on the top and me looking at the bottom, we were like Romeo and Juliet.”

Romeo and Juliet?

Jamie’s heart twisted at the sound of the pairing. She didn’t want to end up like them. She wants to be by his side in this life, not in another.

She slowly moved her head towards him and their gaze met. They looked at each other in silence. Their faces inches apart and eyes locked. Jamie didn’t understand though.

Why did he look so sad? Why was he making her so confused?

Her heart ached. She watched as his lips opened slightly but nothing came out from it.

“I like you,” she whispered. She finally said it.

The weight on her heart felt lighter and she softly sighed in relief. Now, she just needed to face the rejection. She looked at the realization hit the male slowly. His eyes grew wider and his mouth gaped open. Her whole body began to heat up and she couldn’t do this anymore. She made a move to quickly get up and run away but the grip on her wrist prevented her to do so. Jamie was pulled back onto the bench and looked at the male in shock.

“W-what did you just say?” his voice breathless and shaking.

“I-I didn’t say anything!”

Jimin gripped onto the girl’s shoulder, causing her to yelp at the sudden action.

“I heard what you said.”

Annoyed, Jimin yelled, “So why do I have to repeat it again, huh?!” She felt the tears threatening her eyes. Why did he have to do this to her?

“Just, just say it again… Please…” She looked at the desperation in his eyes, a look that she never saw on him before.

She gulped. “I like you... No, I love you…” He didn’t give her to time to say anything else and closed the gathat separated them for twenty-one years.

The female didn’t have time to properly register the pair of lips on hers, but once she did, she quickly pulled away.

“W-wait a minute, what are you doing?!” she sputtered, completely baffled at the situation right now.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” Jimin asked with a dazed smile that looked so cute Jamie made sure to take a mental picture of. How can a man be so cute yet handsome at the same time?

She snapped back into reality. “Don’t you have a girlfriend? You don’t even like me!”

“One, I don’t have a girlfriend,” Jimin patiently answered her questions. He gave a quick peck on her lips which embarrassed the other, making her cover her lips with her hand. He smiled. “If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t be kissing you right now.” He pulled the hand away from her lips and leaned down to give her a kiss once again. This time, Jamie didn’t pull away but allow herself to be immersed in the warmth that she yearned for years. Her arms naturally wrapped around his neck while his hands pressed the small of her back.

They broke apart but arms still around each other and hot breathes centimeters apart. Jamie couldn’t believe what was happening. She was staring into the eyes of the man who has been haunting her mind. The love that oozed out of his eyes made her heart flutter even more.

“You don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for this moment,” he softly said.

Jamie tilted her head slightly. “Just how long have you liked me?”

Jimin shook his head and smiled. “You have no idea… I liked you since elementary school.”

Her heart swelled and she couldn’t help but break into a wide smile. “Thank you for waiting for me then.”

“The wait was worth it.” He tucked a loose strand carefully behind her ear. His gaze still on her, taking in the moment. He admired the way the moonlight made her shine more with her white dress. She was glimmering in his arms, a moment that was rightfully his.

“This is what our fate wanted, right?” Jamie cutely giggled.

The male nodded and smiled widely at his long awaited lover finally in his embrace. He leaned again, only mere centimeters apart.

“I love you,” he whispered and closed the gap for the third time.

And we are finally at the end! I love you! For those who noticed, I didn't put the "Completed" story button because I am debating whether or not I should do an epilogue or a side-story in Jimin's perspective. So let me know your thoughts so I could decide :)

ALSO, for my subscribers that are interested, I am going to be releasing a Suga x Jamie story soon so be on a look out for that as well!~ See you all next time!

Chapter 1: This is so good! Reading chapter one felt like it was a oneshot; it was already fulfilling—seemingly to have left it in an open ending—but turns out, it's a chaptered fic! I'm going to read forth. ^^;

Oh, before I forget, I think /hesitant/ could have been better used instead of /hesitate/ as used in the following contexts: in 'At first, he became stiff and hesitate' and 'Hesitate, Jimin decided now was the time to tell her.' Also, I think I spotted some missing articles and prepositions (a, in..) which are very easy to overlook while proofreading so it's understandable. ^^;; These don't interfere with your flow but just wanted to let you know. Anyway yeah, I'm gonna continue reading because the feels are just starting to dive in jasdjds
