“Helmet?”

“Yes.”

“Elbow pads?”

“Yes.”

“Knee pads?”

“Yes.”

“Wrist pads?”

“Yes.”

“Skateboard?”

“Yes.”

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

“Yes.”

“Last chance.”

“I swear to god, if you don’t start, I will not hesitate to resist giving you my kisses.”

“Should I be honoured that you’re only going to be resisting?”

“Mina!”

“Alright, alright. Don’t stand on the skateboard yet Nayeon.”

“Why not?”

Clattering sounds, skateboard rolling away.

“That’s exactly why.”

“…”

“Stop sulking. Get the skateboard.”

“…”

“If you’re going to continue sulking, I’m not going to teach you.”

Nayeon sighed, grabbing the skateboard that had rolled away a few metres. She’d been wanting to learn how to skate ever since she’d known that her girlfriend knew how to. She might be regretting it a bit, unsure if she could do it or not. But here she was, wearing every protective gear she could possibly find as she waited for Mina to teach her.

“Firstly, before we start; you need to understand that if you move your head, your body will move too and consequently, so will your weight.” Mina started, earning a nod from Nayeon.

“Stand to the side, feet should be where the bolts for the wheels are. Always keep your head between the distance of your feet. If you pass this distance, you will fall.”

“I’m going to hold your hand, stand on the skateboard with one foot, okay? Leave the other foot on the ground.” Mina offered, holding Nayeon’s hands as she stood. She’d listened well, placing her feet in the correct places.

“Is this right?” Nayeon asked hesitantly. Mina couldn’t help but chuckle, nodding in approval.

“Now we’re going to repeat the mounting, but you’ll be doing it without my help.” Mina advised.

Nayeon gulped and agreed, placing her right foot on the front of the board.

“Regular stance, huh?” Mina giggled, earning a confused glance from Nayeon. “No, no, you’re doing great my princess.”

The nickname made Nayeon blush and she almost slipped off the skateboard had it not been for Mina’s swift hands that held her waist to ground her.

“Don’t get distracted.” Mina teased.

“Now, the back foot. Place it on the other bolt and point to the left.” Nayeon shuffled her feet as the instructions were handed out, trying to keep her balance.

“Alright, that’s good. Your stance is great.” Mina cheered, a grin appearing on Nayeon’s face as she said so.

“Try to balance on your own for a few minutes; you have to get comfortable.” Mina instructed.

“Good, good. Alright. I think we’re ready to try and move. Doing it on the grass is safer for everyone so we’re going to start there.”

“Push your back foot against the grass with a little bit of force. It’s harder to move on grass so you’ll need a bigger push but keep in mind you need to stay balanced as well.”

“Keep your weight on your front foot to keep you moving forward.”

“After pushing, your feet should be in the same spot where you start, on the bolts. This part is the hardest because you have to continue balancing while steering the skateboard safely.”

Nayeon freaked out, swerving the skateboard a little too much and slipping off. She groaned as she fell on the grass, growing frustrated with her lack of balance. She was getting the hang of things but her injured foot can be a pain in the . Mina smiled as Nayeon sat down with a pout. She followed, sitting in front of her.

“What’s wrong? You’re doing well.” Mina commented.

“I can’t do it.” Nayeon sighed, shaking her head.

“You only tried it once princess. Skateboarding takes time. You’re already doing really well for a starter. Don’t let anything pull you down when you can do your best. I know it’s hard and it’ll probably get harder once we move to the pavement but good things come out of hard work.” Mina motivated gently, kissing Nayeon’s forehead.

Nayeon exhaled deeply but nodded, agreeing to have another go at it. The two of them got up and Nayeon stood on the board again, taking a deep breath as she balanced herself. Heeding Mina’s instructions, Nayeon pushed herself off the grass, balancing herself well.

“Look Mina! I can do it!” Nayeon shouted, looking back at Mina. The skater wasn’t looking at where she was going and Mina’s eyes widened, running towards her girlfriend.

“Pay attention or else you’ll fall!” Mina scolded, catching Nayeon before she fell onto the grass.

Nayeon giggled as Mina lay under her, huffing in annoyance. “Thank you for catching me.”

“You know, you always need to pay attention Nayeon. If you weren’t on the grass, you’d be seriously hurt.” Mina frowned as she worried.

“I know, I’m sorry. I got distracted by the fact that I could balance.” Nayeon pouted.

Mina sighed, cupping Nayeon’s cheeks to get her to look at her. “I think we’ll do a few more runs on the grass and then we’ll head home.”

“But we haven’t even tried the pavement.” Nayeon whined.

“I know, but I’m scared you’re going to get hurt.” Mina replied, shaking her head.

“Let me try at least!” Nayeon pleaded.

“We’ll see.” Mina chuckled, kissing Nayeon’s cheek before helping her up.

Mina decided to guide Nayeon along, holding on to her hand tightly as she balanced herself on the skateboard. She was trying harder to prove herself to Mina and she could notice that. Deciding to test her yet again, Mina let go of Nayeon’s hand. Continuing without a hitch, Nayeon skated forward, keeping herself centred.

“To stop, place your back foot on the ground to halt your movement. Don’t rush to stop, put the weight on your back foot gradually or else you’ll fall.” Mina called out.

With ease, Nayeon followed her instructions, coming off the skateboard a few metres away from Mina.

“Come back to me?” Mina requested, smiling as she held her hands out. Nayeon couldn’t help but chuckle at her girlfriend’s request, getting on the board again.

“Can we try the pavement?” Nayeon requested again as she reached Mina.

“Yes, but remember, you have to be very slow. I’ll be by your side for the pavement.” Mina warned, picking up her own skateboard and walking to the cemented pathway by the grass.

Nayeon nodded eagerly, running in front of Mina towards the pavement.

“Don’t step on it until I get there!” Mina instructed.

“I know, I know.” Nayeon muttered, waiting for Mina.

“Alright, hold my hand.” Mina demanded as she stood next to Nayeon. With care, she guided her forward.

Nayeon squealed as she felt the difference between the two grounds. It was a lot faster here than on the grass. She held on to Mina’s hand tightly as she sped up a little bit. Mina slowed down, loosening the grip on Nayeon’s hand.

“I’ll be right here. Go slow, kick back on the ground just a little bit.” Mina explained. Nayeon nodded, concentrating on Mina’s advice. She pushed a little bit, realising it was too much and eyes widening as she sped past Mina.

“Mina!” Nayeon called out in worry.

“Slow yourself down, back foot on the ground to steady yourself!” Mina responded, riding her own skateboard to catch up to Nayeon.

By the time Mina had caught up, Nayeon had dismounted the skateboard and sat down on it, a cheeky smile on her face.

“You didn’t need me to come, did you?” Mina asked as she crossed her arms.

“No~ I just wanted to watch you skate towards me.” Nayeon admitted. “You look so cool when you skate, it’s hard not to ask you to do it all the time.

Mina tried to pretend to be upset, but it was way too hard and a smile was immediately present on her face. God, this girl had all the power in the world over her.

“I hate you.” Mina muttered, climbing behind Nayeon and sitting on the skateboard as well.

“Yes Mina, I love you too.” Nayeon chuckled, pulling Mina’s hands to place them around her waist. Mina sighed, resting her chin on Nayeon’s shoulder.

“You did well.” Mina mumbled, intertwining her fingers with Nayeon’s.

“I had a fabulous teacher – of course I’d do well.” Nayeon scoffed, giving Mina’s hand a squeeze. “Thank you for being patient with me. I know it must have been hard for you but you still went on.”

“Anything for you princess. It was a fun day and anyway, the time I spend with you is the best; no matter what we do, I’ll always love it.” Mina said sincerely. “Promise me thing though.”

“Hmm… what is it?” Nayeon answered with hesitance.

“Just don’t come skateboarding on your own please.” Mina chuckled, kissing Nayeon’s shoulder.

“Why not?” Nayeon asked, humming in content as Mina held her tighter.

“Because, I only want to skate with you.” Mina mumbled. “I want to keep you to myself.”

“Does that mean we’re going to be having more skateboarding lessons?” Nayeon questioned in excitement.

“Maybe. Maybe not.” Mina teased.

“I can still resist to kiss you.” Nayeon warned.

“Psht, you won’t be able to survive 10 minutes.” Mina laughed, getting up off the skateboard.

“Is that a challenge?” Nayeon said, raising an eyebrow.

“Yes, it is.” Mina replied, smirking. She knew Nayeon wouldn’t be able to stop herself; she loved peppering her with kisses all the time. At most, she’d give it five minutes. By the time they headed towards their car, Nayeon will not be able to resist any longer.

“Hmph. Fine.” Nayeon sulked, turning away.

“Hey, do you want to ride your skateboard back?” Mina asked, stepping on hers.

“Sure. But I’ll be going slow anyway.” Nayeon huffed, positioning herself.

“I’ll meet you there then!” Mina giggled, kissing Nayeon’s cheek quickly as she skated away.

“Ya! Don’t sway me with your kisses!” Nayeon whined, following behind slowly.

Mina stood by the boot of her car, holding her hand out for Nayeon to come in that direction. Nayeon nodded, swerving her skateboard to her direction and speeding up. Mina widened her eyes as she realised that Nayeon was skating too fast yet again. She was going to collide with her instead. Before Nayeon reached her, Mina placed her foot on the tip of Nayeon’s skateboard, stopping her before they collided. Nayeon had been basically thrown forward, falling into Mina’s arms. She chuckled in embarrassment, cupping Mina’s cheeks and kissing her softly as she placed her arms on her waist.

How long was that? Four minutes?

“You did well princess. Lasted four minutes without kissing me.” Mina chuckled as Nayeon turned red.

“Y-ya! This is all because you kissed me first!” Nayeon denied.

“It’s okay, I love your kisses anyway.” Mina teased, placing a kiss on Nayeon’s lips again before she bolted to the driver’s seat.

“It’s all your fault.” Nayeon sulked, crossing her arms as she sat next to Mina.

“Princess, you can kiss me all you want but don’t try to resist. I might not take you out on anymore skateboarding lessons.” Mina smirked.

“Such blackmail.” Nayeon muttered, a small smile on her lips.

How could she stop kissing Mina? It was one of her favourite things to do.

“Next time, can we skateboard by each other’s side?” Nayeon asked.

“Hmmm, you know what? I might buy a longboard. We’ll both be able to ride that one together and have more fun.” Mina suggested, holding on to Nayeon’s hand.

“But I want to skate on my own next to you.” Nayeon replied, sticking out her tongue.

“I guess there’s no need for one then. I’ll just ride by your side.” Mina nodded, kissing Nayeon’s hand.

“You kiss as much as I do.” Nayeon pointed out.

“I know. But I don’t try and resist it.” Mina added, winking at Nayeon.

“Such a kissing monster.” Nayeon muttered.

“Well, I’m your kissing monster.” Mina retorted, kissing Nayeon’s cheek again quickly.

“And my badass skater.” Nayeon whispered, hoping Mina hadn’t heard it.

Mina pretended not to, but she did. She liked the sound of that. My badass skater.

She’d tease Nayeon about that later though.
