If the most beautiful girl idol member in your generation is having a crush on you, what would you do?

Sometime in the middle of 2017, Red Velvet came to Lee Hong Ki’s Kiss the Radio. They appeared on the radio show with a male solo singer. It’s already a habit of the show to ask the guests to write questions for each other.

The solo singer wrote, of which Hong Ki read, “Irene-ssi, what song is your favourite song lately?”. As usual, Hong Ki commented that the question was boring, but asked Irene to answer anyway.

“Um.....recently......it’s Day6. I really like their summer song”

“I like Day6’s song too!” Hong Ki squealed. It’s an open secret that Hong Ki considered Day6 as very
talented and their music was very nice. He made Day6 Kiss The Radio’s regular guest and would always be
excited whenever they came.

“Their songs are so good” Irene added.

“Irene Eonni is a Day6 fangirl!” Wendy announced, as the other girls confirmed with “Majayo!”

“Fangirl is a bit......” Irene tried to soften the topic, but Seulgi chimed in, “Eonni, you are a Day6 fangirl!”

“I’m quite close with them” Hong Ki said quite proudly.

“Ye, it seems like that” replied Irene.

“Have you listened to them for some time or have you just started listening this summer?”

“..........”

“She likes them since the band debuted” Joy exposed.

Irene gave Joy a solid glare and Joy looked down.

“Uwaaah, did you just stare at her, that’s really scary!” Hong Ki commented.

“Ok. Let’s decide whether you’re a fangirl or not. Do you download their songs?”

“Ne. All their songs are really good”

“Do you watch their music show performances?”

“She watches those!” Wendy reported. “She even followed their Vlive!” Wendy said.

“Aigoo, Day6 will be really happy if they hear this. Let me ask you another question. Do you know the
member names?”

“..........ne” Irene confessed, seeing there’s no use to dodge the question anymore.

“Tell us!”

“Sung Jin, the leader. Jae, the guitarist. Young K, the bass and rap. Won Pil, keyboard. And Do Woon
drum”

“Whoah, you’re definitely a fangirl of Day6!”

“They’re unique” Irene tried to answer neutrally.

“Do you have a favourite member?”

“Um......”

“It’s Young K!” Wendy helped without being asked.

“Oooooh! Young K! Red Velvet Irene’s favourite Day6 member is Young K!!! Why is that?”

“Since I rap for Red Velvet too, I often monitor other artists, so I often listen to Young K”

“Young K is really talented”

“He seems so” Irene smiled, not bothering to avoid the topic anymore.

“Is there any parts that Young K sings and you’ve memorized?”

“She can sing all Day6’s song!” Seulgi added.

“Can you sing a rap part of Young K?”

“Ne” Irene asked.

“You need to sing it here. Shall we start?”

“Ne? Um.....algesseumnida”

Irene then sang Young K’s rap part in Congratulations, in such a very convincing manner that Hong Ki
said afterwards, “I think Young K would be very happy listening to that! So you’re a fan of Young K?”

“........I guess you can say that”

“Do you want his phone number? I can give it to you”

The other members said loudly, “Please give it to Eonni!!!”

“Yes, I will give Young K’s number to Irene-ssi after the show”

Irene was obviously embarrassed, but she didn’t say she would refuse it either.

On the same day, Day6 was very busy because they were preparing to release their new single, and was
filming a new music video.

When they were done, they read their messages and it was flooding with “Young K is a lucky bastard”.

“What is this messages of people telling me that you’re good with girls?” Jae asked.

“Huh? What are you talking about?” Young K asked back.

“People are saying that Irene likes you, Hyung” Do Woon said.

“What? Irene who?”

“There’s only one Irene. Irene the leader of Red Velvet” Jae said in a confused tone.

“Irene from Red Velvet likes Young K Hyung?????” Won Pil half-screamed.

“How come that just suddenly appears out of nowhere?” Sung Jin wondered.

“Hold up, I’m calling Jimin” Jae informed, before calling the said girl. “Jamie? What is this I heard about
Irene from Red Velvet liking Young K?”

Jae listened to Jimin speaking from some time before finally hanging up. Then he looked at Young K
with poison in his eyes.

Feeling the poisonous stare, Young K felt a bit strange, “What? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“You’re such a bastard” Jae concluded.

“What? What was that for???”

“Jamie said, Red Velvet came to Hongkira, then Irene said, she likes our songs. But her favourite
member is you. She’s your fan. She can rap your part in Congratulations”

“...........are you kidding me?”

The maknae line exploded with “Irene is Young K hyung’s fan? Oh my God! I hate you, hyung!”.

“What was I doing? I should’ve rap too” Sung Jin added, feeling frustrated.

“And Jamie also said, Hong Ki hyung gave her your number” Jae reported dryly.

All the four members were now looking at Young K with murder in their eyes.

“What did I do???” Young K asked.

“Our friendship ends here, Dude” Jae deadpanned.

“It’s just something she said in a radio show, ok. She can’t be serious”

“She never said things like that before!” Won Pil informed indignantly.

“Look. I’ll proof it so you guys can stop getting mad at me” Young K took out his phone, “She only said
that casually on a radio show, ok? She can’t be—“

Young K froze while reading his messages.

“..........please don’t tell me she really messaged you” Sung Jin begged.

Do Woon peeked from behind Young K, and Young K put his phone high in the air. Then Jae, who was
taller, took it.

“She really texted him! I can’t believe this!!!”

Sung Jin shut his eyes and held his temple as if he was in pain.

“I hate you, Hyung!” Won Pil spat.

“What, so you’re her fan?” Young K inquired, while trying to get his phone back from Jae.

“Who's not a Red Velvet fan?” Do Woon asked back bitterly.

“I’m disowning you!” Jae vowed, as Young K managed to get his phone back and he reread the message.

It was written; Annyonghaseyo. I’m Irene from Red Velvet. I got you number from Lee Hong Ki sunbae. I
hope this is not a bother for you. I just want to say, I really like Day6’s songs. I really admire how you’re
all very talented, and you sound so good live. I also know that you write the lyrics for most of the band’s
songs. That’s really amazing. I hope one day I can also write songs like Young K-ssi. You also go to
school diligently while being in your band. I really admire your dedication. Please continue to inspire us
with your music.

He put his phone back safely into his pocket, as his brothers stared accusingly at him.

“Wae? What?”

“...........that’s really......” Jae was speechless.

“This is because Young K hyung looks y without doing anything” Do Woon freely concluded.

“He looks good just by uh......breathing” Won Pil added bitterly.

Their manager, who was witnessing the whole thing, said flatly, “You do remember the three years dating
ban, right?”

Young K went wide eyed.

“Can everyone calm down? Why are you reminding me about the dating ban? I haven’t forgotten that!
Besides, come on. You guys are overreacting! She just likes our music!”

“He’s completely trying to make this sounds light” Jae commented.

“...........let’s just leave Young K here and go home” Sung Jin decided.

“Hey!!!”

Of course they still went home together, it’s a long day of recording their music video anyway, but the
murderous stares from his brothers were endless.

Most of the male population below thirty years old in Korea could tell the names of Red Velvet members,
sang their songs, and watched their music videos at least for several times. Young K was surely included
in this huge population. He saw Red Velvet as five talented and beautiful girls with catchy songs, but he
was not a fan. His feelings for the girl group was normal.

However, due to the sudden comment from Irene, Young K googled and read her profile, and also
watched more videos of her in youtube.

This had to be done when he was in his classes of course, since his brothers would be hysterical again if
they saw his growing interest in Red Velvet’s leader.

She’s indeed.......very beautiful. And cute. And..........it became hard to get her out of his head.

When Irene said she’s a fan of a certain member of Day6, without a doubt, it became the headlines on several
online articles, accessed by lots and lots of people. Not only in his dorm, Young K started to get
murderous stares not only from his brothers, but also from his fellow label mates in JYP.

It’s hilarious in a way, because he had never even spoke to her, he had only texted her.

It took him three days to finally answer her text. He wasn’t sure why. Maybe because “It’s Irene”. But
when he finally gathered his wits, he texted back, Thank you, Irene Sunbae, for recognizing our music. I
also have always thought that Red Velvet is great. We will work harder from now on. Please look forward
for our future work. 

He deliberately replied like a dongsaeng speaking to a sunbae, cutting anything personal at all. Because
it’s better that way.

He was going to sleep. It was 3 am, Day6 had just finished their usual brainstorming for a new song. So he
put his phone down beside his pillow and shut his eyes, but it vibrated.

Irene replied. So fast as if she was expecting his text.

Thank you for replying! I thought my text annoyed you! I’ll look forward to your new song next month!
Fighting for school and work!

Young K didn’t reply. But he fell asleep smiling.

The week after that, it was Day6's time to appear on Hong Ki’s Kiss the Radio again. Needless to say,
Hong Ki mentioned about how Irene from Red Velvet is Young K’s fan.

“How are you feeling with such a compliment?”

“I’m very grateful. Red Velvet is also great”

“Aigoo, your tone is too normal. Please say it in a more excited way!”

“Ye. I’m very grateful! Red Velvet is the best!!!” Young K said with more vigour.

“Actually, it was Irene-ssi, Irene! It’s not the whole Red Velvet, please don’t think too high of yourself!”

Day6 all laughed with that.

“Irene sunbae is also great”

“Are you a fan of her too?”

“I’m a fan of the girl group”

“What? You’re a fan of all girl groups?”

The guys all laughed again.

“Ani, ani. I’m just a fan of girl groups from our company. But Red Velvet is a great group”

“I heard your friends were all jealous”

“Ah ye, I have suffered”

“We wanted to throw him away” Jae said, making them guffawed again, “but we need a bassist, so we’re
keeping him”

“That’s right” Sung Jin, Do Woon and Won Pil added.

“But what about your three years dating ban?”

“Ye? What’s that got to do with anything?”

“What??? You mean you will date her anyway?”

Sung Jin glared, and Won Pil and Do Woon looked scandalized, while Jae said, “Brian, you remember
we’re live, right?” while holding Young K’s shoulder.

“I mean, she just said she likes Day6, why are we discussing about dating?”

“This guy is an expert in public talk, aigoo, I admire you. You can swerve any scandalous question”

“The management trained me well, gamsahamnida”

“So you will obey the rules?”

“Me? Of course I will!”

Hong Ki naughtily said in a low tone, “It’s ok to date secretly, you know?”

“Andwaeyo” Day6 all said together so seriously.

“I’m sorry for the bad influence” Hong Ki said in an apologetic manner. “Day6 are all very obedient”.

“We are all focusing on our work right now” Young K said.

“.........why do I feel disappointed?” Hong Ki asked the air.

“So with Irene-ssi you will....?”

“Meet her via our music” Young K concluded. “Irene sunbae, I’ll work harder, please look forward for
Day6”

“Algesseumnida. That was the obedient and professional Young K. Let’s listen to Day6’s song of the
month, music cue!”

Several months later, Day6 appeared at the year-end music stage, and before the performing time,
Wendy cornered Jae with a serious face.

Jae was shocked, and was grateful that Wendy spoke English.

“Can you arrange for uri Irene Eonni to talk privately with Young K-ssi?”

Jae’s logical respond was so on point: “What?????”

“Please!” Wendy begged with her both hands.

“Did Irene-ssi asked for this?”

“No, but we want this to happen. She became a bigger fan since that radio show, yet she still had no
chance to even speak to Young K-ssi! She’s such a good Eonni for us all, so we would like to make this
chance for her. Please help her? Please?”

“Uh........if our management knows, Young K might be in trouble.....”

“In all agencies, speaking with a girl group member from different agencies is allowed” Wendy insisted,
pressing on the word “speaking”.

“.........right”

“Can you help?”

“........ok. I’ll speak with the members”

“Gamsahamnida! What’s Day6’s favourite food?”

“Excuse me?” Jae asked, bewildered with the sudden change of topic.

“We’ll send you lots of it!”

“Oh” he beamed, “It’s pizza!”

“We’ll send you lots of pizza later”

“Thank you. It’s a deal”

They bowed together then went their separate ways.

So, Day6 members were all very jealous to Young K, but more than that, they loved him. So of course,
everyone agreed to create a chance for Irene to speak with Young K. The rest was up to them.

So after the stage, the manager was happy to see Sung Jin and Jae got ready so fast, ushering the two
maknaes to “palli get into the van”. Day6 had indeed grew up.

“Guys, why are you so fast? Are we going for a restaurant or something? What are we eating tonight?
Hey, wait for me!” Young K called out.

“Oh, someone wants to talk to you. So you need to stay here first” Jae said at the door.

“Huh? Who?”

“A sunbae. The person will be upset if you leave”

“What? A sunbae?”

While Young K wondered which sunbae wanted to talk to him, Jae informed, “We’ll be in the van”

“A sunbae from JYP, right?”

“You’ll see” Jae grinned.

“But –“

Jae left and closed the door of their humble dressing room.

Confused and a bit nervous of which sunbae was going to meet him, Young K packed his bag and tidied
the place. It would be disrespectful if a sunbae saw the dressing room was messy. Who was it, anyway?
And why would the person talk to him only? Could it be a sunbae wanted to collaborate with him?

And then the door was knocked, revealing Irene.

Young K became motionless and so did she.

The silence was very scary and intense, until Young K recovered.

He bowed low, saying, “Annyonghaseyo, Day6’s bassist, Young K imnida”

Irene looked incredibly embarrassed, but she bowed back, “Annyeonghaseyo, Red Velvet’s Irene imnida”

“I know” Young K said.

Because Irene was there but she couldn’t say anything else, Young K asked, “Can I help you?”

“Ah, ne. I – can you maybe – sign this for me?” Irene asked, showing him Day6’s latest mini album and a
permanent marker.

“Wow” Young K exclaimed. “It should be the other way around”

Irene smiled.

“It shouldn’t be you asking for my autograph. I should be the one asking Irene sunbae’s autograph”

“Do you – do you know our songs too?”

“Of course I do” Young K said, receiving the mini album and sitting down to sign it. “Do you want me to
write something special?”

“A......a good message will be nice”

Young K obeyed and wrote a message on the album, before signing it.

“I really like your new song this month”

“Thank you so much. I also listened to Red Velvet’s new single well”

“Ah, jinjja? Manhi gamsahamnida”

Young K gave the album back and their fingertips brushed.

Irene was blushing but she thanked him by looking at him in the eye, and she was looking amazingly
beautiful and Young K couldn’t help to ask, “Is it possible for you to wait for me?”

Irene was stunned.

“Ne?”

“I have three years dating ban. It will be lifted in late 2018. If it’s not too much to ask, can Irene sunbae,
no, can......Ju Hyun noona wait for me? I mean, if you’re not seeing anyone—“

“I’m not seeing anyone” she denied very fast.

Young K was surprised but then he smiled. “Oh. How lucky for me. So, uh....can you.....”

“I’ll wait for you” Irene promised.

“Jinjayo?”

“Ne”

“Gamsahamnida. Until that, can I be Ju Hyun noona’s friend?”

The way he was calling her Korean name made her shuddered, and it took her a lot of courage to ask, “If
I text you, will you – will you reply me?”

“I will”

“If I text you often, is it alright?”

“Noona can text me everyday” Young K said, looking up at her and smiling.

“I......thank you”

“No. I thank you”

“I –“

Young K waited, but it seemed that Irene’s vocal ability was not functioning at the moment, which was
unbearably cute.

“If I don’t reply, it means I’m busy”

“Thank you”

“No, I thank you” their conversation repeated itself, but Young K didn't mind it at all. It's flattering and amazing at the same time, that the beautiful Irene, the leader of Red Velvet, could be so flustered talking to him.

“I – I really li—“

“Don’t” Young K warned, and Irene looked at him in shock. “Allow me to say it first to noona. After our wait
is over”

Irene’s eyes were immediately wet with tears.

“Omo! Uljima, noona”

“Th – thank you. Thank you for today. Thank you for this. I – can I go now?” Irene asked, with a shaking voice.

Seeing she looked like she would really cry in a few seconds, and thinking that it would be unwise to hug
her in his arms on their first meeting, Young K nodded.

With that, Irene dashed out.

A very happy Young K entered the van where his brothers were waiting.

“Seeing his face, I don’t think we need to know the details” Jae commented.

“I still can’t believe this!” Won Pil said dramatically.

“Hyung is so lucky!” Do Woon said.

“I want to hear the details” Sung Jin said.

“What details?” their manager asked.

“Nothing. Young K just met a sunbae” Jae countered.

“Which sunbae?”

Young K said nothing.

“Aigooooooooooo I’m really starving!” Won Pil exclaimed, trying to dodge the topic.

“Ne! We haven’t got dinner!” Do Woon helped.

“Omo omo, I’m going to die of hunger!” Won Pil added, “I feel really nauseous!”

“Ok, fine! We’ll buy dinner!”

“I’ll treat you tonight” Young K said.

“Man Seeeeeee!” Do Woon cheered loudly.

“Something good really happened” Sung Jin summarized.

“Do you have the money?” Jae asked sceptically.

“I do” Young K said, beaming like a fool.

“Why do you want to treat us? Has anything happened?” the manager asked.

“I wonder what should we buy?”  Won Pil asked loudly.

“Can we have meat, Hyung?” Do Woon asked.

“Uh.......meat is a bit.......how about pizza?”

“No, let’s not buy pizza!” Jae refused.

“What? But you love pizza!”

“I know. But not tonight”

“How about bibimbab?”

“Meat bibimbap?” Do Woon asked hopefully.

“Ne. Let’s buy it!” Young K said excitedly.

“Ok, let’s go to that bibimbap place near the dorm” their manager told the driver.

After the car moved, Jae asked Young K in a conspiratorial tone, “On a 0 to 10 scale, how well did it
went?”

“Eleven” Young K grinned.

Jae laughed at the cheesiness, before he suddenly sang the chorus of Congratulations.

Of course, once he started, the others joined him, with Do Woon hitting the car window like a drum.

“Congratulations you are so lucky......” Jae sang.

“........really, has something happened?” the manager asked again.

“Aigoooooo, I feel really nauseous!” Won Pil said loudly, as if he hadn't eaten for three days. “When are we going to arrive on that bibimbap place?”

The manager started to think that Won Pil might be having an ulcer problem if they didn’t feed him soon,
so he told the driver to hurry.

Meanwhile, Jae and Sung Jin were still singing and creating the celebratory version of Congratulations.

Author’s Note:

I know. This is so random.

I’ll try to explain the logic behind this.

I’m currently so in love with Day6. Though he’s not my favourite member, Young K is the iest member
in the band. And recently, I watched After School Club which Red Velvet attended, and Irene was sooooo
pretty there.

I like matching gorgeous people together. And I think “Young K deserves the prettiest girl in Kpop, and
who else but Irene?”.

So that’s the background, hehe.

I was so busy this week, and have been craving to write this for a few days. I finally can and wow, the
writing process makes me really happy!

I want my Yongseo readers to also like this random fic, haha. If possible, to ship Irene/YoungK too.
Because I definitely will write more about them.
