Description
xuan yi has always lived a life of seclusion - from her peers, her parents, and lately, herself. she couldn't understand what was wrong with her - it's frustating to say the least. sometimes it's the sudden panic attacks, then it's the chest pains - then she couldn't breathe. just like a child choking a goldfish as it helplessly stares at the water where it could've been safe; so close, yet so far, she felt like the universe always toys with her.
cue in johnny seo, otherwise known as johnny, a little rude, a little mean, a little dealing with anger management issues and a whole lot of not condoning to the traditions and culture xuan yi grew up with. the young man is definitely not on xuan yi's doctor's prescription. but this passerby is a little hard to forget, and for once, xuan yi doesn't mind it.
indeed, the events revolving around johnny seo may be uncomfortable at times, awkward seconds filling in and definitely imperfect - but it still makes her stomach feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that she's not the only "f-ed up, privileged, little brat" in town.
passersby are hard to come by, and moreso johnny seo.
Foreword
Constance Academy is well-known for its luxurious and elite reputation - its buildings are said to be at least the size of a shopping mall, the uniforms cost more than an average employee's monthly pay, and the students; they come from the "top 1%" families of South Korea - well, now perhaps Asia, as the school expand its wings over the years.
but the truth is less sugary sweet than what's told - the school is located atop of a lonely hill which makes the land price extremely low therefore the possibility of the large size of the building. the students don't necessarily come from the "top 1%", but they usually do come from families important enough to be hiding their "bad seeds" in an isolated boarding school. and the uniforms - well, the uniforms are quite fancy, that xuan yi would agree.
high schoo life isn't meant to be easy, whether you attend a public school in the bustling city of Seoul or a secluded boarding school in the middle of nowhere. but in Constance Academy, the students not only deal with mean girls, big bullies and strict teachers - not to downplay these problems, of course, but they are kids that also have to deal with their biggest enemy - themselves.
xuan yi cursed the day her mother kissed her goodbye at Constance Academy; being here only confirms the fear she's been having - she's not well. and neither are the other students, she soon figured out. but maybe, perhaps, there's a short glimmer of hope that she can go through high school life - with the cute boy next door, she perhaps can.
