Two Tears

Two Tears

"Let's go to the park today" Rosé said her cheeks staining a bright preach color due to the cold weather.

Jungkook chuckled softly.

"Not today, Rosé." he spoke.

Rosé frowned.

"Why not?" she said pouting.

"For one, it's cold. The ground may be sparkling with white, but the air is a deadly layer of coldness."

"We're going shopping." he spoke.

Rosé rolled her eyes playfully.

"So you can take me out in the cold air to go shopping, but not for a nice walk in the park?" she mocked.

Jungkook gave her a small smile.

"Stores are warm on the inside and you are getting married, you need a dress." he spoke.

Rosé's smile faded.

"That's right. I am getting married." she said with no emotion.

Jungkook sighed.

"I'm sorry that you have to have it in the winter, but Jimin wants it done as soon as possible.  And I couldn't agree more. You need to be with a wealthy and generous man."

Jungkook begged Jimin for days to marry her.

Rose looked at him. She sighed before his hair slowly.

"I suppose you're right. Let's go before it gets colder." she spoke dragging him to the door.

When they arrived in town. Neither soul was thrilled.

Jungkook tried to keep his heart from beating so frantically, the organ telling him that he should be with her.

Not another man.

Rosé tilted her head back. She closed her eyes. She made it seem like she was just tired, but in reality she was forcing her tears back into her eyes.

She opened her eyes. They were clear of any tears. As if her brain generated none within the last minute or so.

"Where are we going first?" she asked. Jungkook turned to her.

Before he could reply he coughed several times.

Each one sounded more painful than the last.

Rosé his back.

"Are you okay?"

Far from it.

"Yeah, just the winter air." he lied.

Rosé sat back in her seat and sighed. She began to look out of the window again.

"We're getting flowers first and then a lovely dress." he spoke his voice dry.

Rosé turned to him. She put her hand on his.

"First we're getting you a warm drink."

He smiled.

"What would I do without you?" he asked. Rosé pretending to think for a minute.

"I don't know, maybe you'd die." she joked.

But she regretted it as soon as she said it.

Jungkook stayed silent.

"Yeah...maybe I just might." he mumbled, but Rosé heard every word.

After getting Jungkook and herself a warm drink they went into the flower shop.

They examined various flowers in a large supply of colors.

They shared laughs and made sweet memories.

Rosé settled for graceful white roses, recommended by Jungkook.

He told her that an angelic girl like her needed flowers that represented grace and beauty.

He wanted her to be perfect for this day.

They walked out of the store with their freshly wrapped flowers.

Jungkook began coughing. It was a lot worse this time.

He fell to the ground slowly.

Rosé panicked, but nonetheless kept clam on the outside.

She helped him up and gave him her scarf.

"Just hold on. I'll hurry and get you home." she said the cold winter air staining her breath.

When they arrived at the small apartment Rosé laid Jungkook down on the sofa.

"What's happening to you?" she asked her voice threaded with sadness.

Jungkook groaned. "I'm fine. It's just I have a bad cough." he said.

"Yeah it's more than a bad cough." Rosé exclaimed.

Jungkook rubbed his head.

"I just need some rest."

Rosé sighed.

"Just promise you won't leave me." she pleaded softly close to tears.

But that was the thing, she always wanted to cry, but she never did.

She stayed strong.

For him.

He smiled sadly.

"I promise. I will never leave you." he said before slowly moving towards the bedroom.

She wanted Jungkook to get as much rest as he possibly could.

Rosé twisted and turned that night.

She didn't know what she would do if he left her.

Her biggest fear was being left alone.

Especially in this cold world.

She couldn't sleep.

Jungkook had her so worried.

She went to get some medicine from the cabinet on the bathroom.

When she opened it, instead of finding the sleeping medicine she found something much worse.

She gasped and quickly closed the cabinet.

She returned to her room and fell asleep.

She didn't want to stay awake a minute longer.

Rosé opened her eyes and was welcomed with the gleaming sunshine.

She sat up and looked out of the window.

She smiled a the sparkling white blanket.

She got out of bed and walked into the kitchen.

There stood Jungkook.

When he noticed Rosé he smiled.

He walked over to embrace her.

She accepted the hug, but Jungkook could tell something was wrong.

"Rosé are you okay?" he asked.

She kept quiet and picked up a croissant.

She turned to him and sighed.

Tears were b her eyes.

But, not a single clear drop fell.

"I have know you for too long." she started.

Jungkook frowned.

"Too long for you to keep this a secret." she said holding up his medicine bottle.

Jungkook's eyes widened. He inhaled sharply.

He took Rosé into his arms.

"I'll explain everything, but please don't cry."

Rosé nodded.

Jungkook walked with her to the couch.

"What I'm about to explain is horrifying, but promise me you won't cry. I can't stand to see you cry." he spoke.

Rosé nodded. Jungkook took a deep breath before coughing lightly.

"I didn't want to hurt you Rosé." he started only to be stopped soon after.

"Jungkook stage 4 cancer isn't something you should keep from me." she said her voice cracking.

He sighed.

"Rosé your biggest fear is being left alone. I was trying to protect you."

She looked at him.

One could not fathom how hard it was for her hold back all her tears.

Because one thing Jungkook hated the most, was to see her cry.

"From what?" she asked softly.

He gave her a small smile.

"The pain." he spoke.

She leaned in closer to him.

"I don't want you to leave me." she spoke.

He chuckled softly.

"I won't."

Rosé suddenly remembered their plans for today.

"We're not going shopping today." she said.

Jungkook coughed softly and shook his head.

"No. You have to get your dress." he said.

Rosé refused.

"You need to stay in and rest. I can take care of you."

Jungkook got up slowly.

"I'm fine Rosé. I just need to wrap up."

"Jungkook I-"

"Just please do this for me. Not for him, but for me. I want to see you happy." Jungkook spoke.

Rosé sighed.

"Fine let's go, but please dress warmer than you did yesterday." she pleaded softly.

Jungkook smiled a small smile and went to get a scarf.

The ride was quiet.

When they arrived at the store, several women gathered around Rosé to get her size and her recommendations.

Jungkook sat in one of the armchairs.

He looked around the beautiful building.

Flowers on display as well as a variety of gorgeous dresses.

But what caught his attention the most, surprisingly, was the clock.

Because he wished, he could turn back the hands of time.

Rosé appeared in a long dress with diamonds encrusted in several places.

Jungkook couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Beauty.

Jungkook didn't know something this memsmerizing could exist.

"What do you think?" Rosé asked smiling softly.

Jungkook returned the smile.

"It's beautiful. Do you like it?"

She nodded.

She then pulled her assistant over and whispered something into her ear.

The woman nodded and walked over to Jungkook.

She escorted him out of the room.

When he returned he was dressed down in a suit.

The woman got him to stand beside Rosé.

He looked a her and she smiled.

He chuckled.

"You're just full of surprises aren't you?"

The woman pulled out her camera and told the two to be still and smile.

After the photo was taken the woman handed it to Rosé.

Jungkook kept quiet.

He kept the tears back.

"Rosé...I'm going to head home. I don't feel too good. "

Rosé smiled sadly.

Worry flooded into her eyes.

"Are you sure you'll be fine?" she asked.

He nodded.

After he changed he left the store and drove home.

While driving he felt something wet on his hand.

He looked down at the clear drop.

He was crying.

For the first time since he fell in love with Rosé.

He cried for her.

He cried because that picture, was just a fantasy.

Little did he know that Rosé didn't change her dress.

She sat there looking at the picture.

And for the first time since she loved Jungkook she cried.

She cried because she knew,

that that picture...

Was all she ever hoped for.
