Our Dates

“Hyung!”

Seungcheol grinned as he heard that familiar voice, ignoring the matching teasing smiles on Jihoon and Soonyoung’s face as Hansol ran across the quad to get to them. Feigning ignorance, Seungcheol continued on rewriting his notes even when he heard his boyfriend stop behind him. Jihoon was rolling his eyes, muttering under his breath while Soonyoung greeted Hansol.

“Yah, you jerk. I know you heard me.” Hansol scoffed, pushing Seungcheol’s shoulder.

Seungcheol turned around, widening his eyes dramatically. “Oh, hey, babe. I didn’t know you were here.”

“Don’t listen to him. He started smiling creepily when he heard your voice.” Jihoon quipped, causing Soonyoung to laugh.

“He’s so whipped for you, Sol. It isn’t even funny.” Soonyoung added, dodging Seungcheol’s swipe.

“As if you aren’t whipped for Jihoon.” Seungcheol retorted.

Soonyoung grinned, giving him two thumbs up. “Oh, I am very much whipped for my fairy.”

“Have some shame, god, Soonyoung.” Jihoon groaned, covering his face.

Hansol laughed, draping himself across his boyfriend’s back. “The two of you are so cute, really. Makes me jealous sometimes.”

Seungcheol huffed, lacing his fingers with Hansol’s. “Why are you getting jealous? We’re plenty cute.”

“We are not cute.” Hansol scoffed, trying to pull away, rolling his eyes when Seungcheol just tugged on their interlocked hands. “Stop. We have to go. Music date today, remember? If we miss Yoongi hyung’s performance, I’m breaking up with you, I swear.”

Seungcheol stood up abruptly at that, pushing all of his things to his bag before dragging Hansol away. Hansol laughed loudly, waving at the other two while allowing himself to be dragged.

“Choi Seungcheol, you are so whipped!” Jihoon shouted after them.

Seungcheol only nodded, not even bothering to deny it as he mentally computed how much time they had before the start of the underground rap battle.

--

Seungcheol and Hansol actually met through Jihoon with the youngest asking Jihoon’s help for the mixtape that he was making. Jihoon, though a composer of more than a few songs, wasn’t familiar with what a mixtape should have. He had listened to a couple but not enough to really tell whether this song should be included in this or not. So he recommended the help of his childhood best friend, Seungcheol  and to say Seungcheol was taken with the younger lad was a sore understatement. It had taken a few dates with Jihoon always being forced to tag along before Hansol eased up to the other.

And now that they were happily dating, Hansol had even taken it upon himself to label the dates that they had. Seungcheol had no idea why the younger wanted to do that but seeing his boyfriend explain it enthusiastically was more than enough to silence any protests he might have.

Music dates were the most common.  Hansol explained that since they met through music, they should continue developing their love for it in their relationship. Music dates varied from going to different underground rap battles, checking out a new indie band to throwing out some ideas for their own mixtapes. Seungcheol loved these dates; a part of him had been worried that he’d end up with someone that he didn’t have the same love for hiphop that he did. When he told Hansol how happy he was to find the younger because of that, Hansol was reduced to a blushing mess, muttering incoherently under his breath.

More often than not, food dates followed music dates especially if they went to a concert. Food dates included going to different restaurants to try out new food. Seungcheol found out the hard way that despite Hansol’s lithe figure, he could eat his weight and some. The first time that Seungcheol offered to treat Hansol, the younger put up a huge fight, saying that the older would regret it but Seungcheol was adamant. Needless to say, the two had to walk home after that meal. Hansol kept on apologizing but Seungcheol waved it off, genuinely feeling happy at how Hansol had enjoyed the different dishes. He just needed to save more of his allowance for their dates.

The last type was their chill dates. Hansol had admitted that Seungcheol was his first serious relationship and he wasn’t sure what to expect from their relationship. But he had insisted that he didn’t want them to be the mushy kind of couple who can’t keep their hands off each other. Basically whatever dates they had that didn’t fall under the first two categories would end up here. Seungcheol found it adorable that Hansol really did mean it when he said he didn’t know what to do in their dates. The older had to gently coax the younger into being used to holding hands, to backhugs and to surprise kisses. Hansol would always squawk in protest but Seungcheol knew better than to take it to heart upon seeing the beautiful pink dusting his boyfriend’s cheeks whenever he did that.

--

And here they were, throats hoarse from screaming after the underground rap battle but with matching sated smiles on their faces. Hansol was still bouncing excitedly on the balls of his feet, rapping under his breath as they made their way to the bus stop. Seungcheol watched on fondly, gripping the younger’s hand to pull him close before he accidentally hit someone.

“Food date next?” Seungcheol asked.

Hansol stopped bouncing, frowning slightly. “I’d love to but I can’t tonight. I have a lot of homework that I need to work on tonight.”

“But aren’t you free tomorrow? Why not do it then?”

“Oh, I have something to do tomorrow.” Hansol said with a soft smile, making it easier for Seungcheol to guess what it was.

“New book?” Seungcheol asked.

Hansol nodded, opening his bag to show the book still covered in plastic wrapper. “It’s from Jihoon hyung. He gave it to me a week ago and I still haven’t found the time to read it.”

So much for Jihoon not spoiling Hansol. Seungcheol chuckled, pulling Hansol along when their bus arrived. “Ji didn’t give it to you on a deadline. You don’t have to rush to read it.” Seungcheol said, leaning his head on Hansol’s shoulder after they took a seat.

Hansol sighed, leaning his head against the other’s. “I know that but still. Have you seen how hyung smiled when I tell him I finish the last book he gave me? Soonyoung hyung even told me that he got jealous because Jihoon hyung rarely smiles at him like that.”

Seungcheol laughed, storing the memory away to tease his friends in the future. “Should I feel jealous too, baby? You keep saying Jihoon is cute too.”

“That’s because he is.” Hansol rolled his eyes. “Why are you even going to get jealous when I literally drag you everywhere just so we can be together?”

“Oh.” Seungcheol mumbled, wondering if Hansol knew the effect of his words.

“Articulate. Besides, I brought you to a rap battle where Yoongi hyung was. The Yoongi hyung I’ve admired for such a long time! I can’t believe you made me miss the intro verse, by the way.” Hansol muttered, pinching Seungcheol’s thigh.

“Yet you didn’t break up with me.” Seungcheol said lightly though his chest felt tight with what he was feeling. He sat up, kissing Hansol’s cheek. “I love you.”

As Seungcheol predicted, Hansol started blushing, turning his head away to face the window. “In the bus, seriously? Why are you even this cheesy?”

“What’s wrong with being cheesy? And saying I love you isn’t that cheesy, babe.” Seungcheol chuckled. “You’re blushing, Sol.”

“How can I not blush?” hansol whined.

“I say that to you almost every day.” Seungcheol reminded him.

“Tell that to my stupid butterflies! They won’t go away no matter how hard I try.” Hansol groaned.

Seungcheol bit his lip, hugging Hansol tight, crowding him against the window. “You’re so adorable, baby.” He kissed the younger’s shoulder. “My adorable baby.”

“Am not a baby.” Hansol mumbled, turning his head quickly to peck Seungcheol’s lips. “I love you.”

--

Seungcheol jumped up when a plastic bag was suddenly placed in front of him. He raised his head, glaring at the culprit only to receive an eye roll from Jeonghan before the other took a seat across him. He looked inside the plastic bag, wondering why the other was giving him so much food.

“Won’t Jisoo get jealous if he finds out you’re bringing me lunch?” Seungcheol asked, fishing for a choco pie.

Jeonghan quickly slapped his hand away.  “No because that’s not for you, you pig. That’s for your boyfriend. Jisoo borrowed Hansol’s guitar earlier and he said that your boyfriend didn’t look like he was going to move for a while.”

Seungcheol sighed. “That’s cause Jihoon got him a new book and you know how he gets when he has a book.”

“Stop acting like a child and feed him. He’s going to keep reading unless someone stops him and reminds him to eat.” Jeonghan huffed.

“I will. I was just about to buy him something anyway.” Seungcheol glanced at his phone, noting that it really was beyond lunch time. “Why did Jisoo borrow Hansol’s guitar anyway? He has his own.”

“Jihoon’s tuning his guitar and replacing the strings.” Jeonghan smirked. “Are you still jealous because Hansol called Jisoo handsome that one time?”

“It was three times, thank you very much and no, I’m not. Why would I be? I’m dating Hansol now.”

“Yeah, really sounds like you aren’t jealous.” Jeonghan laughed.

Seungcheol kicked his shin. “Why don’t you just ask Jisoo out already so everyone will be happy?”

“I’m waiting for him to realize that he likes me more than a friend.” Jeonghan chirped happily. “Speaking of which, I’m helping him with the melody for the song he’s writing. Give that to Hansol.”

Seungcheol scoffed, nodding his thanks before getting up as well. He took the choco pie he had initially fished out and started eating it. It was just one piece so it wasn’t like Hansol was going to notice. It wasn’t like Hansol noticed anything when he was reading anyway.

--

Seungcheol hummed as he keyed in the password to his boyfriend’s place. Ever since the two of them had started dating, Seungcheol had learned that it was better to just barge in rather than wait for Hansol to open the door for him. And the moment Seungcheol walked in, they had already started their last type of date.

Seungcheol called them book dates while Hansol protested that it couldn’t even be counted as a date. Hansol would be too immersed in whatever he was reading to actually pay attention to Seungcheol so he didn’t count it as a date but the older insisted that it was since it was just the two of them, spending time together.

Seungcheol headed to the living room, smiling at the sight. Even though it was becoming a common occurrence, Hansol never failed to knock the breath out of Seungcheol like this. The younger’s brows were furrowed in concentration and there was a frown on his face, making Seungcheol wonder what the book was about. He tried to peek at the cover, only seeing the pink blossoms? He wasn’t sure of it but it looked like that. He stood there, waiting and wondering if Hansol would actually notice him this time but a few minutes of just silence passed by and Seungcheol had no choice but to admit defeat.

Seungcheol hummed to himself as he started arranging the food Jeonghan got for the younger.  Glancing at the clock, Seungcheol sighed before going back to the living room to try and get his boyfriend’s attention.

See, Seungcheol had a love hate relationship with their book dates. He loved it because it allowed him to just stare at Hansol without any interruptions, commentaries or attempts of his younger boyfriend to hide his face. Seungcheol had long admitted to himself that he liked beautiful things and his boyfriend was way more beautiful than anything he had ever seen so staring at Hansol had become a normal event. Hansol, on the other hand, found it embarrassing and often shied away from his boyfriend’s intense stare. When they’re on their book dates, Hansol always ended up too focused on the book he was reading to be bothered by Seungcheol’s staring.

It was also why he hated these dates. Seungcheol didn’t know whether he should be offended or not that his boyfriend would hardly spare him a glance while he was reading. No matter what he did, Hansol’s focus would stay with the book and jolting him out of his trance was a no no since the one time Seungcheol tried it, Hansol was so shocked that he ended up tearing a page from the book. So, yeah, no jolting him out of it.

The food was already turning cold and Seungcheol had already tried calling for Hansol several times with still no luck. He was trying to figure out a way to jolt Hansol without ending in a damaged book. Making his way carefully to the couch, Seungcheol took a seat beside the younger, looking at Hansol for any sign of recognition. Again, the lack of any response gave Seungcheol mixed feelings. Carefully propping his leg up on the couch, Seungcheol moved closer to Hansol until his chest was almost against the younger's back.

"Took you long enough." Hansol scoffed, leaning back against Seungcheol's chest fully.

Seungcheol startled, accidentally kicking the coffee table which caused him to curse under his breath. The snort from Hansol didn't help anything at all. "Don't sass me. How long have you known I was here?"

Hansol placed the book down, rolling his eyes when Seungcheol gasped dramatically. "Oh, shut up." He grumbled, reaching forward to rub at Seungcheol's foot. "Does it hurt?"

Seungcheol shook his head. "Not much."

Hansol hummed in satisfaction, continuing his ministrations while Seungcheol just gaped at him. The older's eyes kept drifting to the book on the table, still trying to wrap his head around the fact that his boyfriend willingly put down a book just to make sure his foot wasn't hurt. Seungcheol had to bite his lip to contain the smile threatening to split his face. This must be what Hansol meant by butterflies.

"Could you please stop staring at me? It's becoming creepy." Hansol whispered, putting Seungcheol's foot down.

Seungcheol grinned, pulling Hansol back to his chest. "Can't help it if my boyfriend looks very pretty."

"I am handsome, thank you very much."

Seungcheol smiled, softer and smaller this time. Jihoon called it his Hansol smile and maybe it was but he found that he didn't mind it at all. He watched the light reflect in Hansol's eyes, the warmth in those brown eyes only getting brighter. Again, Seungcheol was glad that even though Hansol's mom was American, Hansol had brown eyes instead of blue. Looking into those brown orbs never failed to make Seungcheol feel like he was drinking a cup of his favorite hot chocolate. The younger's eyes were always warm with affection and Seungcheol had no qualms just staring at them.

"Cheol, you're still staring!" Hansol exclaimed, hitting Seungcheol's shoulder.

"And you're blushing." Seungcheol teased, laughing gently. "But seriously, how did you notice I was here? Do you have any idea how long I've been here, trying to catch your attention?"

Hansol smirked, turning around to face the older. "I've known since you arrived. It was fun watching you try and get my attention though."

"Yah, you brat!"

"What? It was hilarious!"

"Then did Jisoo lie to Jeonghan earlier?"

"What? How did Josh get into this conversation?"

Seungcheol frowned, flicking Hansol's forehead. "Jisoo hyung for you. He dropped by earlier to borrow your guitar, remember?"

"Did he? I don't remember seeing him." Hansol frowned back at him. "Are you sure that was today?"

"Yes, I'm sure. It's okay. Everyone expects it from you anyway. Which leads me back to my point. How did you know I was here?"

"I noticed you come in...? How else?" Hansol asked innocently.

"You didn't notice Jisoo, babe."

Hansol blinked up at him. "But you're my boyfriend? Why would I not notice my own boyfriend coming over?"

"You were reading a book!" Seungcheol exclaimed, voice rising a few pitches for some reason.

"Yeah and so? Cheol, come on. I know I'm in my own world when i read and even with you, I was like that but that was only a few times after we went out. Things are different now. I don't know but I can sense your presence? Wow, it sounds creepy. But I just meant that I'm so attuned to you?" Hansol stopped, lips pursing in thought. Seungcheol wanted nothing more but to surge forward and kiss those lips but he knew that Hansol was being genuine with his explanation so he decided to wait it out. "I can't explain this right but my point is you're my boyfriend so whenever you're in the same place with me, my eyes just naturally find you." Hansol stopped, looking at Seungcheol. "Did that make any sense to you?"

"It made perfect sense to me, baby." Seungcheol whispered, cupping Hansol's cheek and leaning forward.

Seungcheol wondered if he'll get tired of seeing Hansol blush, seeing that dazed look on the younger's face after every kiss, seeing Hansol smile so beautifully at him and hearing those three words from the younger's lips. The answer to that was a definite no, Seungcheol swore by it.

--

Now, book dates had officially became a type of date for them. Hansol would still sit on the couch, unmoving and unfazed , with a book in his hands but now, Seungcheol would be beside him watching tv or curled up on the younger's lap as he played a game on his phone, trying not to jostle Hansol so much.

And Seungcheol might be a little biased when he say that book dates were the best dates. He had 100% access to cuddle his boyfriend and all, every single one of them, ended with the two of them kissing so Seungcheol felt that his choice wasn't baseless. Hansol would scoff and tell him he was silly but Seungcheol knew Hansol loved their book dates just as much.

A.N: omg i finally finished this. i'm sorry i was gone for so long but i literally couldn't do anything beside school these past few months. hopefully, my creative juices will start flowing again.

Chapter 1: OMG HANSOL AND SEUNGCHEOL ARE SO CUTE!!! Soonyoung called Jihoon his little fairy!!! I find that so cute because Hoonie is a fairy. (: And oh, Jeonghan, you should really ask Jisoo out already. There's no harm in asking him except maybe he rejects you, but you're you so I'm sure he won't. I don't think he should wait any longer.
