Chapter 35:You either kiss the future or the past goodbye 

“Kkuk-ah…Are you good” a light tap on his shoulder brought him to back his sense. He was hugging his parents ashes closed to chest for one last time before saying goodbye for real. He owed one proper funeral for his parents even though it was too late for one but by doing this will put him at ease. Sera’s angelic face gave him strength to go through the first change in his life, letting go his past.

He smiled softly with a slight nod “I am ready…” he slowly open the lid. Jungkook took a fist of the ashes in his hand as his tears started to flick down ‘Father, mother I am sorry for being an imperfect son. It took me long enough to prepare a proper funeral for both of you. I love both of you so much. Rest in peace, may we meet again’ with those last words, he spread the ashes.

Sera slipped her right arm around his torso “Rest in peace Mr and Mrs Jeon” she muttered under her breath. Jungkook was glad she came to pay his respect with Sera because he felt less lonely that way knowing he still had friends around him. A burden was lifted off from his shoulder; at least he could live his life with not guilt.

“Thank you for coming with me Ser” Jungkook wrapped his arm around her shoulder as both of them stared blankly at the breathtaking nature in front them.

The blue lake, the green trees aligned along the lake and not to forget those cherry blossoms was blooming beautifully at this time, it was beyond amazing. He chose to drive three hours from city, because it was his parent’s favourite place to spend during their leisure time.

Her smile was genuine as she nuzzled her face in his chest “Don’t be, you know I will do anything for you Jeon Jungkook” soft Sera drove his heart crazy. Today would be the day he confessed to Sera and decided to leave his past.

His second phase of life was to let the girl that he loved go and moved on. One sided love stings.

He slowly turned to face Sera “Ser.. I don’t know what I will do if you weren’t by my side” he was gazing into her dark orbs before embraced the girl in his arms. He found Sera shifted comfortably in his embrace as she gladly returned the hug.

“Stay like this...I have something to tell you, I don’t think I have the guts to look at your face. Or…I lose myself” he whispered lowly which baffled Sera.

“Kkuk..is everything alright?” she used her free hand to caress his chest. Damn, even a slight touch got him all jumpy and insane. It was the right thing to end everything now before it was too late.

“Kim Sera… I can’t keep my feelings any longer, it is driving me insane. I want this to end today so we can go back to square one, as a best friend. It would not be easy for me to adjust this but I will try in the name of my love for you. This may sound crazy but..i am in love with you Sera” Sera gaped.

What the hell was that? Jeon Jungkook just confessed his love for her like for real? What in the world.

Clutching onto his shirt for support, her knees felt like jelly “J..ungkook..What..is that..wait..how..when..” she stiffened in his embrace. Sera didn’t even know to find right words to reply him, so things that came out from sounded absurd and distorted.

His feeling for Sera was unexplainable to begin with. Jungkook could not understand how he ended up falling for her deeper and deeper despite knowing she’s dating his best friend. A jerk, indeed. And, again he couldn’t stop those feelings from growing no matter how hard he tried. It just bloomed.

“I am sorry for putting you in an awkward situation. I just wanted to end this feeling that I have for you. I don’t think I can handle my feelings any longer Sera, it is too much for me” Jungkook caressed her soft hair down to her back. He understood Sera now when she first came to her to confess her feelings after years. It must be hard for her to do this.

How he wished he realized his feelings for her sooner that time. She could have been his.

Too late, Jungkook.

Sera was not judging him from having such feelings for her, and she was grateful that her so called first love ended in a twisted way. After all, she really managed to get her first love loving her back at the end of the day though it was no use now. Her heart is with Jimin and Sera’s feeling for Jungkook was long gone.

It took her long enough to gather her sane thought finding suitable words to reply Jungkook. Thank god, he was hugging her or else he could see her crimson red face. She slowly pulled away, snapping her head up to meet his shy face, what a dork. The shyness in him was still there.

“Kkuk-ah.. Thank you for loving me with all your heart. Thank you for telling me this. And, thank you for being the best thing that ever happens in my life. Don’t be burden with your feelings for me; I am sorry that I can’t love you back as much as you do. However, you have a special place in my heart Jeon Jungkook” Sera placed her hand over her chest with a soft smile.

One of her hands found its way to his cheeks, her touch was tender “I do love you even as a friend Jungkook. I love you kkuk-ah” she smiled earnestly and it melted him.

To hear those words from her was enough even though it meant nothing but this would be the good start of their friendship. It would be stronger than ever.
