Part one of a two part short based on this exchange from Yewon's Graduation Vlive:

Eunwoo: And I saw your phone a little, there's also Lucy?

Yewon: H-H-How did you see that?

Minkyung: How did you see that?

Minkyung's phone chimes in the middle of practice. That's not unusual in itself. (After all, it's not like Minkyung is an unpopular girl. She'll have you know that she has plenty of friends, thank you very much.)

What is unusual is the way it chimes again, less than ten seconds after the first, and then a third time, even more quickly. Minkyung furrows her brows and drops her arms from their position above her head. It's not like the new dance needs to be mastered by next week. They still have at least a month to go before it has to be show perfect. (Or, as Siyeon likes to say, fancam perfect. And being a more mature member means having more cameras directed at you.) And anyway, the only people still in the practice room are her, Kyungwon, and Eunwoo, who look just about ready to drop. Or at least Eunwoo does. Kyungwon is still humming the song and twirling and untwirling her hands to some unsteady rhythm. Minkyung is glad Kyungwon isn't a rapper. For how talented Kyungwon is at melody, rhythm is something that always seems to escape her. Minkyung thinks it's a damn miracle that Kyungwon manages to learn any of their dances to their CEO's standard of razor-sharp precision. And that's not even mentioning Kyungwon's painful inability to judge her own limbs' lengths. Minkyung rubs her arm where Kyungwon had smacked her accidentally earlier. A deadly combination of a beat too late and a few centimeters too close.

Minkyung is snapped out of her thoughts by her phone chiming yet again -- a fourth time in a minute. She dodges Kyungwon's sloppy arm arc as she makes her way to the front mirror where her phone and water bottle are. Sure, the CEO said that they were supposed to take breaks against the back, unmirrored wall, but that meant a) walking further and b) sitting in the dark. Pledis hadn't yet gotten around to fixing the florescent lights in the back. It had gotten to the point where the flickering was so bad that the light was essentially useless, so no one turned it on now. Whatever. Minkyung would just wipe down the mirror afterwards.

Minkyung plops down beside her water bottle and uncaps it, bringing it to her lips and taking a sip. Eunwoo joins her, breathing heavily, shirt almost totally soaked with sweat. Minkyung offers Eunwoo some of her water only for Eunwoo to shake her head, clearly tired beyond words, grab her own bottle, and hold it up for Minkyung to see. Minkyung just nods and takes another sip of her water before pickin

This hurts, mann.. I read a bit of your discussion with mrml and I can understand that. I think it's more because idols have made their dreams their own "idols" and one of the most prevalent asian mentality is competition in all things marketable, smh..

I always reread angsty ioi stories (there's one series I've reread more than a dozen times the past week) and I just want to commend you for how true you describe reality. It's quite scary, as the darker greys of society are.

Chapter 20: Oh man, what did Nayoung even see? Minkyung's hormones are out of control...Now I kind of want to know whether or not Kyungwon is really connected to that drug cartel, or if she just has a thing for cute cops and decide to try her luck. I hope it's the latter, I don't think that dork would fare well in jail lol

Chapter 19: Now that was an amazing read. Kyungwon's struggle here feels so raw and real, you should definitely feel proud. The whole 'hammer and nail' metaphor was beautifully executed. You write emotions so well, I don't think youre rusty at all, they feel as poignant as ever. I love Nayoung's portrayal, the dynamic between 'leader' and 'friend' was a delight to read, just the right amount of stern but comforting. Minkyung however, i felt couldve been a little more comforting in the beginning, but I guess you did say that she didnt realise how badly Kyungwon would panic. Im kinda curious to see who else has 'violets in their lapels' (double yay for old lgbt traditions), im assuming its Minkyung, but it might not necessarily be. The greedy part of me wants to read more of this, especially Siyeon and Kyungwons convo, but i think its wrapped up ok, since this is mostly Kyungwon's journey. It was a great read, i miss your writing xD
