A Death
My Light in the DarknessSunny kicked the loose pebbles on the ground as she made her way back from the marketplace with fresh bread for the witches. A sudden hoarse scream of agony caused her to lose her footing and she tripped. Getting up, she sped in the direction of the cry as fast as she could. A black figure bent over a limp, lifeless body was all that Sunny saw when she finally arrived. She was too late. The demon flung the body on the ground and fled at the sight of Sunny. She ran to the boy to check for a pulse, even though she already knew she wouldn't find one. She raced back to the cave, destroyed at the loss of a life.
'Guys!!! Get out here right now! Everyone!' Sunny yelled in a panic.
Tiffany and Jessica, who were already in the living room area, spun round to face the flustered Sunny. Sooyoung and Seohyun rushed out of their rooms as well, surprised at the distress in Sunny's tone. Sunny's voice instilled an unexplainable panic in the four girls as they immediately felt their bodies tense up automatically. 'What?! You can’t be serious!' Jessica exclaimed and used her hands to hold her temple.
Tiffany reached a hand out to Jessica's hair and agreed, 'poor boy, his family's going to be devastated when they find out!'
'I couldn't save him...' Sunny sounded so defeated.
'It's not your fault Sunny, he was already dead, there was nothing you could've done,' Sooyoung assured from the hallway.
'He was so young, he still had so much ahead of him, I can't believe his life is gone just like that.'
'Wait, how old was this boy?' Seohyun seemed to have a sudden moment of realisation.
'Around 20?'
Seohyun snapped her fingers and went 'oh my gosh...'
'What is it Seo?' Sooyoung asked.
'Have you guys realised we haven't had an accident with anyone out of that age range in months?'
'Hm... That's true. The girl I saw getting attacked that day on my stroll was also around 20. And Yuri's around 20 too. In fact, it's true. We haven't seen an incident outside that age range in a long long time... That
