~A/N: This is posted on AO3 as well and was made for pastelrainbows on AO3

Jimin sighed as he looked out the window for the umpteenth time that day. Each time he looked outside he hoped to catch a glimpse of clouds in the sky with the promise of snow, but sadly he was disappointed each and every time. He knew the chances of snow falling were slim, the weather channels had said it fell below one percent for the whole week, but Jimin couldn’t help but hope for a Christmas miracle. He’d been praying all week for snow, but unfortunately, his prayers had not been answered. It was already Christmas eve and night time at that, and still, there was not a drop of snow to be seen anywhere in the city of Seoul. Seeing this, Jimin’s spirits dropped realizing the possibility of snow actually falling tomorrow on Christmas morning were pretty much slim to none. Apparently, this year would be the first time Jimin wouldn’t experience a white Christmas.

“Hyung! Can you come help me with the Christmas cake?” a loud voice from the kitchen boomed.

“Coming! Wait a second!” Jimin replied as he sent one more wistful look at the window and then padded his way into the kitchen to help his boyfriend.

“What do you need help with Kookie?” Jimin asked as he entered the kitchen and walked towards Jungkook who had his back to him.

“Decorating! Which colors do you want to use for frosting?” Jungkook asked as he sent Jimin a cheerful grin, bunny teeth on full display.

“Hmm...whatever colors you want are fine with me,” Jimin answered as he looked at the vanilla cake with chocolate swirls mixed in. They had both worked hard to make the cake as perfect as possible and Jimin had to say they did a rather nice job. The cake looked delicious and was pretty much finished except for the frosting. Jimin looked around the kitchen to see what a mess they’d made. There was flour all over the countertops, sugar sprinkled around the mixing bowls which were still covered in batter. Thankfully, they’d managed to keep the batter contained to just the bowls.

“Aw come on hyung, please help me decide? I don’t know whether I should pick traditional colors like red and green or be a little creative and use yellow and orange...hmm...oh what about blue? Wouldn’t blue be a nice color?” Jungkook asked as he examined the different frosting colors they had brought earlier that day.

“I honestly think whatever you use will look nice...but if you really can’t decide...maybe use all the colors?” Jimin suggested with a thoughtful expression before he shrugged and picked up the mixing bowls to bring over to the sink.

“I don’t think I can use all of them,” Jungkook replied with a pout, looking seriously troubled.

“Jungkook, you are an amazing artist so I know you already have a design in your head that you want to use, and I’m ninety percent sure you also know what colors you really want to use as well. So don’t worry about what others think, and just go for it” Jimin said as he began washing the bowls.

“Well. I do have an idea of what I want to do, but…” Jungkook trailed off eyeing the cake wearily.

“Just go for it Kookie. I trust in your abilities. Whatever you have planned is bound to be great” Jimin assured as he continued to do the dishes.

“Fine. But I’ll help you clean up first, hyung.” Jungkook offered as he reached for a towel to dry the dishes.

“It’s fine. I got it, just finish the cake.” Jimin responded as he finished the dishes and started on the countertops.

“You sure?” Jungkook asked placing the towel back down.

“Yep!” Jimin replied with a smile and so Jungkook went back to decorating the cake while Jimin finished cleaning the kitchen. Once they were both finished they cuddled up on the sofa in the living room. The TV was running a marathon of Christmas movies, and the one playing at the moment was a romantic comedy. Jimin enjoyed the movie but couldn’t help glancing at the window every few minutes. He thought he was being discreet, but of course, Jungkook noticed it.

“I really don’t think glancing out the window with a pout will make it snow hyung.” Jungkook murmured as he snuggled closer, wrapping his right arm around the elder who sighed.

“I know. I just really wish it would snow already.” Jimin murmured back sinking into the younger with a small smile.

“Regret not being able to go to Busan this year?” Jungkook asked.

“Hmm...a little, but it can’t be helped,” Jimin answered after a few seconds as he turned his attention back to the movie playing on the TV.

“Yeah...how is your dad? Have you heard from him since yesterday?” Jungkook asked as he began tracing random patterns along Jimin’s right arm.

“He’s getting much better thankfully, but the doctor still says he shouldn’t move around much or have guests over,” Jimin replied absentmindedly as he tried to focus on the movie but found he had lost all interest in it. His thoughts wandered to his father who had just been released from the hospital about three days ago and was now at home taking it easy. His father had a heart attack about a week ago and it had been a serious event. Jimin was supposed to go home for the holidays like he usually did, but he’d gotten a call the day before he planned to leave to be told the terrible news. His mother had advised he stay in Seoul for the holidays this year since his father needed to keep visitors to a minimum, even if they were family. The doctors had only let his mom stay with his father and had forbidden all other visitors. She told Jimin that she’d call him to update him on his father’s condition and also to let him know when he could come home. So far it didn’t seem like that would be anytime soon, and while Jimin worried about, and wanted to be there for his father, it was simply better if he didn’t go.

“Well, at least he’s getting better,” Jungkook said with a hum. They were silent for a few seconds before Jungkook leaned over and pressed a kiss to Jimin’s cheek.

“Don’t worry hyung. Your dad is a fighter, he’ll be fine in no time.” Jungkook said with conviction.

“I know...he’s already doing much better according to my mom. But she wants to wait another week before letting me come down to see him.” Jimin murmured as he faced his boyfriend of about seven months.

“We’ll go the moment she gives the ok signal,” Jungkook said pressing another kiss to Jimin’s other cheek.

“Ok.” was all Jimin said as he kissed Jungkook on the lips in return. They melted into each other’s touch and enjoyed the warmth spreading between them. As they kissed Jimin couldn’t help but think about how much had changed between them over the year. To begin with they’d finally started dating after two years of knowing each other. They had met on Jungkook’s first day of college and then grew to be close friends. More than halfway through his junior year and Jungkook’s sophomore year, Jimin had confessed and then they started dating. Once summer break ended and they returned from Busan for Jimin’s senior and Jungkook’s junior year, they decided to rent an apartment near campus and move in together rather than live separately on campus.

The first few weeks of living together had been a challenge. They had to adapt to each other’s habits and routines, there had been more than a few fights and Jimin had almost been sure they’d break up. It never happened, though, they’d adapted and learned to live together peacefully. Of course there were still a few fights here and there, but for the most part, they were content living together, enjo
