In 2012, he joined SM Entertaiment after he was street-casted and made his debut in 2016 as main rapper and leader of the newest SM boy group, NCT. He attended School of Performing Arts Seoul, where he graduated in 2014. He had a rocky debut due to past actions coming to light such as scamming and discrimination however, he turned the tide and people are becoming more acceptive of his new persona.
