I. The First Snow.

Miracles in December

Baekhyun was staring at the television from across the living room, holding a wash rag and a soapy plate in his hands. He made an impatient sound when the newscaster and the live reporter (reporting news from a sports arena) were talking casually with each other, as if they weren’t on live television!

“I don’t care about your thoughts on what the point guard's wife was wearing, Tiffany!” snapped Baekhyun, stomping his feet, “I just want to see the forecast for the next few days!”

Baekhyun groaned when he realized what he said. When did he get this old? Since when did he even care about the weather?

“I need to stop to hanging out with Joonmyeon and Kyungsoo,” sighed Baekhyun as he turned around and went back to the sink, putting the plate back in the water. “I swear to god, just by working with them for several months, they aged me 10 years!”

Baekhyun was about to pick up another plate when he heard the meteorologist finally on the air. Dropping the plate with a loud splash (that sent water everywhere), Baekhyun sprinted back into the living room and stopped in front of the large flat screen and waited on the tip of his toes for the forecast in his area.

“Ah Taeyeon you went with the maroon blazer this time,” sighed Baekhyun whimsically, “Such a good look for you.”

‘There has been a low pressure building in the south for the last few days and it's finally making its way toward us. This means colder temperatures to the lower regions of the country. Be on the lookout for snow showers late tonight. Six to eight inches of snow is what we will be expecting here in the city, which is a great news for you ski and snowboarders since the higher elevations could see up to a foot or more of snow! Stay cozy inside folks and be prepared to wake up to a winter wonderland as we welcome the month of December. Back to you Sonny.’

‘Thanks Taeyeon-’

“YES!” shouted Baekhyun as he jumped around the glass table in joy, “I knew it was going to snow!”

Baekhyun like to think he had an excellent intuition. He would call it his ‘Baek sense’s’, everyone preferred to think he was just plain ridiculous since most of the time he only pointed out the obvious. Not like he cared what they thought, Baekhyun was intuitive that much he was certain of. He ran to the sliding door and threw it open with a big smile. The cold air hit him, but he didn’t seem to care. He had been waiting all year for this. Well, 9 months to be exact. Ever since he went on his first date and they walked hand in hand across the bridge. He knew deep down inside his heart that Yixing was the one he wanted to spend the first snowfall with, and make his first snow wish with.

He got his first snowfall, checked off his list. Now he had to work on getting his loveable boyfriend home so they can watch the snow fall together. Speaking of which, where was Yixing anyway?

“He was suppose to be home a hour ago,” mumbled Baekhyun as he fumbled for his phone in his pocket and dialed his boyfriend's number, “Where did he wander off to?”

After the fourth ring, Yixing finally answered but he sounded winded and exhausted.

“Where are you?” asked Baekhyun innocently

“At an auto-shop,” replied Yixing and started mumbling in mandarin under his breath, “Something is wrong with the car so I’m here till they fix it.”

“You sound unhappy,” pointed out Baekhyun as he tapped his fingers on the balcony rail, “Is everything alright?”

Baekhyun frowned when he didn’t get a right away answer. Yixing was usually quick to express how he felt whenever Baekhyun asked him.

“I’ll be fine,” muttered Yixing finally, letting out a deep sigh “I won’t be home for a few more hours since I’m still in the next town.”

“But it’s going to snow soon,” pouted Baekhyun,

“I’ll be fine.” repeated Yixing, “Hun I gotta go, I’ll call you when I’m leaving okay?”

“‘Mkay,” mumbled Baekhyun, kicking the railing gently with his foot.

“I love you.”

“Love you too.”

Baekhyun slowly put his phone down and stared up at the evening sky. The clouds were coming in.

So much for spending the first snow with Yixing, thought Baekhyun as he continued to stare up at the sky.

“Sorry!” cried Sehun over his shoulder as he kept running out into the cold

“You shouldn’t just stand by the door like that, so it’s technically your fault,” he added under his breath as he kept going.

Sehun threw his hood over his head and blocked out the cold weather by running across the large campus. If he was lucky, he would get to the campus cafe before it closed. He was in desperate need of caffeine and they were the only place within walking distance of his dorm that sold his favorite coffee creamer.

A hop and skip across the field and a walk around the bend, Sehun had made it to the campus cafe, but a little too late.

Eleven minutes too late.

Sehun halted mid-step when he saw the dark windows that were usually lit, and a large ‘CLOSED’ sign was taped to the front door. A distressed whined escaped Sehun’s lips and his shoulders slumped forward in disappointment.

“No,” moaned Sehun, running his hands through his dirty hair (he hadn’t showered in days), “no, no, no, no. This isn’t happening...Why you do this to me!?”

Sehun threw his arms up in the air and started pacing around the sidewalk.

“I have a 30 page thesis to write, I need my coffee,” muttered Sehun, wringing his hands, “I haven’t slept properly in 2 months! I have a class at 6 in the morning-WHY ARE YOU NOT OPEN!?!”

Sehun grabbed the locked doors and started to yank at them in desperation. No matter how hard he pulled at them they stayed closed. Sehun was considering breaking one of the windows when he heard a familiar voice shouting his name. Turning around quickly on his heels he looked across the street and saw Jongin, with two other guys, smiling and waving at him like an idiot (well, to be fair, Jongin was pretty much an idiot).

“The sign says ‘Closed’,” shouted one of the guys who had dark brown hair and an amused smile that showed at the curl of his lips

“I can see that,” shouted Sehun, “Why it’s closed before 9 is what’s annoying me!”

“Kid read the sentence underneath it,” offered the man, shaking his head in amusement

Sehun scoffed and turned around and looked at the bottom of the bold words and saw there was indeed a sentence written there that said: ‘Water line will be shut off for the remainder of the night due to repairs, will resume business at 7 AM.’

“And kid, it’s already 9 PM,” shouted the same guy, “Love your Yoda pajamas by the way.”

Sehun blushed and looked down to his legs and groaned when he saw he was still wearing his Yoda pajama bottoms from the night before. ‘Great!’ thought Sehun, ‘There’s no coffee on campus, and I’m walking around in my Yoda pants...Kill me now God.’

Sehun smacked his forehead and fell up against the locked doors, groaning in self-pity.

“Hyung, be nice.” chided Jongin, giving his older brother Jongdae a look before jogging over to his friend, who was now hitting his head repeatedly on the door.

“Sehun, it’s almost below freezing out here, why are you running around in your pajamas?” asked Jongin tentatively, grabbing Sehun’s head so he wouldn’t keep hitting against the door.

“I need coffee,” moped Sehun, “Must have coffee.”

“I know where we can get coffee!” said Jongin up beat, “If we’re lucky we can still make it in time before he locks the doors.”

“Where is the coffee!?” asked Sehun frantically, looking frazzled

“My cousin’s bakery,” answered Jongin nervously when Sehun clung to his arms, “Sehun, have you showered recently?”

“I need coffee.”

“You need an exorcism,” remarked Jongdae who had walked over to join them, “And something to take off the edge of the caffeine binge you're obviously in.”

“It’s finals,” explained Jongin, as he waved over his cousin, Minseok to join them, “Sehun is not usually like this.”

“Ah finals, I remember those days,” smiled Jongdae, full of nostalgia,

“Didn’t you have a nervous break down when we were in our first year?” asked Minseok thoughtfully as he joined the group, waving at Sehun politely

“Why do you always have to bring up old ?” demanded Jongdae

“Because you can’t do like Elsa and let it go,” replied Minseok with a grin

“You’ve only been home for 2 hours and I want you to leave already,” scoffed Jongdae, turning away from his cousin/best friend, “Well come on Yoda pants, let’s get some food in your stomach before you really break down.”

“I want coffee.”

“Bless you.”

“Guys, I got a weather report that says it’s suppose to start snowing soon.”

With a bright smile and a polite ‘hello’ to the doorman, Kyungsoo stepped into the lush apartment building. He greeted a few people as he made his way to the elevator, politely declining the offer from the old lady who lived a floor down about carrying the extra shopping bags he was carrying for him.

“I can manage don’t worry about me,” smiled Kyungsoo, “Enjoy your evening walk, tell your daughter I said ‘hello’.”

Kyungsoo quickly made it to the steel doors and lifted his right foot to hit the ‘top’ button. He shuffled on his feet, humming softly to himself, he was rather enjoying these few moments of peace and quiet. A soft ring signalled the elevator had arrived, Kyungsoo was just about to enter the elevator when his coat started vibrating and a woman's voice started singing the chorus of a popular pop song.
"Ugh, biscuits," scoffed Kyungsoo as he juggled the shopping bags in his hands and fished his phone out, "you better be dying to be calling at an important time, ." he snarled into the phone as he placed it to his ears, his moment of peace and quiet were up.
"Oh please you should feel ing blessed I called you instead of that grandpa," retorted Baekhyun with the same scoff Kyungsoo
"What do you want Baek," grunted Kyungsoo as he stepped inside and struggled pushing the 13th floor button (he finally reached it on his third try).
"Do you have the name of the town you sent my sweet Yixing to make that cake delivery to?" Asked Baekhyun straightforward
"Sheesh, is that why you're calling me?" Griped Kyungsoo as he placed some of the bags on the floor, ignoring the pain in his forearms from carrying them, "I'm hanging up. I have important things I could be doing instead of assisting you in stalking your poor boyfriend."
"Hey it's gonna snow soon and the car broke down," explained Baekhyun impatiently "I'm worried about my sweet baobei!"
"And why is the car broken down?" Reprimand Kyungsoo with a raised eyebrow, knowing exactly why the car broke down (Baekhyun always forgot to take off the emergency brake and drove around with it on)
"Don't worry about the why 'Soo," scoffed Baekhyun "the point is I need to get to him so I can spend the first snow with him!"
"I know you're being unreasonable but for arguments sake, why do you wanna be stuck in a snow storm with Yixing?" Asked Kyungsoo patiently, pinching the bridge between his eyebrows with his fingers
"So we can make our wish on the first snow together!" Cried Baekhyun, practically shouting into the phone "I want to be with him when I make my first wish! Now tell me where you monsters sent my future baby daddy!"
Kyungsoo slumped his shoulders at the last part. Leave it to Byun Baekhyun to show a hint of being a selfless person but to quickly squash it and make it all about him again. Then again this was the same guy who indirectly tricked his now current boyfriend to go out with him by pretending to sell cookies for charity (he pretended to be selling the baked goods but was pocketing the cash), and also the reason said boyfriend was stranded in a small town 60 miles away because the brakes finally decided to give out with a snow storm heading their way.
There was a loud ring, signalling they had arrived at the 13th floor. Sighing Kyungsoo picked up his bags and stepped out of the elevator.
",did you hang up on me?" Asked Baekhyun suddenly, snapping Kyungsoo out of his thoughts.
"I'm still here, ," retorted Kyungsoo "I'll look up the order in a sec, let me get inside first."
"Are you home?" Asked Baekhyun suddenly
"No" replied Kyungsoo as he punched in in the security code to unlock the door,  "I'm at Chanyeol's."
There was a long pause before Baekhyun said another thing, by then Kyungsoo was inside the house, tugging his shoes off with a roll of his eyes.
"How, how's he doing?" Asked Baekhyun slowly almost hesitant.
"What do you think?" Sighed Kyungsoo as he walked into the living room and saw the mess in the room, "no one has heard from him before his birthday." He added quietly
"Jesus," swore Baekhyun quietly
"As requested no one tried to celebrate his birthday." Reported Kyungsoo as he walked into the kitchen and put the grocery bags down.
"Like last year," mumbled Baekhyun
"And the year before that." Muttered Kyungsoo walking around the table and back to the living room
"He always gets depressed around this time, " commented Baekhyun
"Can you blame him, he left around this time." Murmured Kyungsoo as he dug into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper, "okay I have the address."
Kyungsoo recited the town and where Yixing would be.
"By the way, how are you going to get out there?" Wondered Kyungsoo as he tossed the paper into the trash bin, "Taxi? I doubt you have the cash to pull off the fare."
"I have a scooter, you ," snapped Baekhyun
Kyungsoo laughed out loud. Typical Baekhyun, he would travel on the highway on that stupid old scooter of his.
"I'm not gonna tell you how stupid that idea is," snickered Kyungsoo "go ahead and do it. Can't wait to hear you get stranded or get put in a ing hospital because of hypothermia."
"As long as I get to my precious Yixing I don't care if I get stranded with hypothermia, so long as we make our first wish together!" Declared Baekhyun
"Fingers are crossed for you, you stupid lovesick fool" chuckled Kyungsoo.
After saying sarcastic 'goodbyes',  the pastry chef hung up and assess the situation in front of him.
Blankets, comforters, sheets, and towels were thrown over random furniture and draped around making a makeshift blanket fort in the room. Locating the door (which was a navy blue towel), Kyungsoo knelt by the door and pulled the towel open, peeking inside.
It was dark, the only light coming from the bundle of multi lights in the middle of the fort. There were pillows all over the floor, empty take out boxes and beer cans. In the far corner there was a big bundle of blankets where a lone figure was sitting wrapped up in them holding a tablet in his hands watching something on the screen with what appeared to be an American TV show.
Kyungsoo got on his hands and knees and started to crawl toward Chanyeol. He made a face of disgust when his hand touched old spilled beer. Grunting Kyungsoo flicked his hand and crawled around the mess.
"Hey" whispered Kyungsoo when he got closer to Chanyeol.
Chanyeol didn't look up from the screen. But moved slightly in his cocoon of blankets, making a sound of acknowledgement.
"What you watching 'Yeol?" Asked Kyungsoo gently, sitting down crossing his legs.
"The Big Bang Theory," answered Kyungsoo to himself when he didn't get a reply and decided to look at the screen.
"Penny made dinner for her and Sheldon, and Sheldon is trying to sneak out without Leonard knowing he's going to Penny's because they just broke up." Mumbled Chanyeol
"Ah, he brought the hot dogs for the spaghetti," nodded Kyungsoo leaning over and watching the show.
"Yes."
The two sat in silence as they watched the show together. Kyungsoo couldn't help but laugh at a few parts, and smiled when he felt Chanyeol silently laughing along with him.
"I can relate a lot with Leonard," said Chanyeol out of the blue as the credits started and the episode ended.
"How so?" Asked Kyungsoo, glancing at his tall friend who even sitting, still towered over him, "I think I relate to Sheldon the most, I'm surrounded by idiots 24/7."
Chanyeol snorted and gently shoved his friend.
"I mean how he was with someone that was out of his league and when he said he loved her, she backed away and broke up with him for no reason and didn't really give a reason for why." Answered Chanyeol softly, "I can relate to that."
Kyungsoo gently took the tablet away from his friend's hands and turned it off before putting down next to him.
"I suppose," mumbled Kyungsoo gently, "in a way we all can relate to Leonard one way or another. We fall in love with someone who is perfect for you in every way and that person doesn't feel the same way. But it's not the end. I mean even after they broke up they still decide to be friends for the sake of their friends. Plus this is only season 3, they get back together eventually and get married in season 9. All is not lost."
"I guess." Muttered Chanyeol with a sigh, "But where is my Penny?" He asked softly, Kyungsoo almost missed it.
'Oh, Chanyeol' thought Kyungsoo mournfully as he leaned over and side hugged his friend tightly.
"I brought stuff to make jjajangmyeon, you wanna get out of fort Yeol and help me make it?" Asked Kyungsoo gently, "or take a shower? You reek Chanyeol." He wrinkled his nose when he smelt his friend.
"Jjajangmyeon, sounds good." Nodded Chanyeol with a small smile.
"How about you go get cleaned up while I make it? We can even eat in here and finish watching the season together?" Offered Kyungsoo with a warm smile
Chanyeol nodded his head and returned the smile. Kyungsoo let go of his friend and they both crawled out of the blanket fort.
'I am going to clean this pig sty first before I start cooking.' Thought Kyungsoo as he crawled out of the fort and pushed Chanyeol in the direction of the bathroom.

‘Stupid Kyungsoo.’ thought Baekhyun as he yanked his helmet off his head, releasing his hair from its cage, ‘ on this Kyungsoo! I made it!

Baekhyun yanked his hood over his head too keep the snow from wetting his hair. It took close to two hours for him to get here, he had to pullover a few times to warm up and sweet talk his trusty scooter into working, but he made it.

He squinted in the darkness, trying to make out where the auto-shop was located, thank God his phone had a GPS on it and located the only shop in town. Baekhyun smiled widely when he saw someone walk out of the closed shop and that person happened to be his boyfriend Yixing.

Yixing pulled his tan town coat closer to his neck and put his hands to his lips, blowing into them to keep warm. It wasn’t snowing too bad, but the snow was coming down in large flakes. Seeing Yixing look so cold pulled at Baekhyun’s heart. His sweet precious baby was never fond of the cold. Hoisting up his backpack, Baekhyun left his scooter by the sidewalk and started to jog toward his boyfriend, shouting his name as he ran.

Yixing looked up and his eyes widen, he blinked twice to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. He wasn’t dreaming. Baekhyun was still running toward him, and he was getting closer.

“Baekhyun?” shouted Yixing as he stepped away from the wall and ran toward the smaller male and scooping him up in his arms, “What are you doing here? How did you know where I was?  How did you even get here? Do you know how cold it is out here? Baby your hands are frozen!” Yixing babbled away, holding Baekhyun close to him.

“I came to be with you,” answered Baekhyun, hugging Yixing back fiercely, “Kyungsoo told me where you were making the delivery and I used my phone to find the repair shop. Also don’t ever drive a scooter in freezing weather!”

“Baby I told you I would be a few hours but I was going to be home no matter what,” sighed Yixing, “You didn’t have to come all the way out here on your scooter. Poor thing is probably going to never run again after this.”

“I don’t care,” sniffed Baekhyun, “I wanna be with you. I would of walked all the way here if I had to!”

“What is with you tonight?” wondered Yixing gently, as he pulled back and stared at Baekhyun, “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours that you had to be with me in the middle of nowhere in a snow storm?”

“It’s the first snow of the season,” replied Baekhyun softly, “I want my first wish on the snow to be with you. I want to be with you when I make my first wish.”

Yixing was taken back, but only for a moment. Smiling his dimple smile, Yixing pulled his boyfriend back into his arms and planted a kiss on Baekhyun’s forehead. He smiled in content when he felt Baekhyun wrap his arms around his torso, hugging him back. Yixing suddenly didn’t feel so cold anymore.

“You know I love you so much, right?” asked Yixing softly

“I know.” answered Baekhyun, “And I love you just as much, if not more.”

“You can’t love me more then I love you, my love,” remarked Yixing lovingly as he rocked Baekhyun in his arms, sighing when he heard Baekhyun hum in content.

The snow continued as the coupled rocked back and forth in front of the repair shop, Yixing singing softly into Baekhyun’s ear.

“So what is your wish ‘Hyun,” said Yixing after he finished singing to his boyfriend.

“To be with you forever and ever,” replied Baekhyun, resting his head on Yixing’s shoulder to stare up at his lover.

“You didn’t have to wish for that,” smiled Yixing, “I was going to be with you forever and ever regardless if you made that wish.”

“But I can’t make another wish,” whined Baekhyun, “You only get one!”

“I haven’t made my wish yet,” reminded Yixing, “Don’t I get a wish?”

“What’s your wish ‘Xing?” asked Baekhyun with a pout

“I wish we were home, in bed, with the heater on full blast, watching the snow fall at a safe and warm distance.” answered Yixing, “And if we are , that’s a bonus for me. And drinking something warm.”

“Oh that reminds me,” said Baekhyun suddenly, pulling out of the embrace and taking off his backpack

Yixing watched curiously as his boyfriend ped the bag and pulled out a thermos and a ziplock bag filled with toasted sandwiches. Toasted turkey sandwiches, to be exact.

“I dunno if the tea is still hot, but the sandwiches are still warm.” smiled Baekhyun sheepishly.

“The heater in the car still works.” offered Yixing with a smile of his own.

Baekhyun smiled and pulled Yixing toward the door, laughing as he did so.

“You should of said the heater was still working from the start!” laughed Baekhyun

Yixing smiled and let himself be led.

‘I wish for us to always stay exactly like this, Baekhyun. You here by my side, never unwavering and determined to be with me through any storm we might face. That’s my wish.’

‘I wish to be by Yixing’s side forever, and ever. Because that is exactly where I want to be.’

Sehun had finished off the last of his chicken soup when Jongin approach him carrying two mugs in his hands, along with a knowing smile.
"Here," said Jongin casually, pushing the empty bowl away and placing the mug in front of Sehun, "drink."
Sehun perked up and grabbed the cup groaning when he saw it wasn't coffee, but green tea.
"I don't like tea," murmured Sehun as he placed the cup down on the table.
"First rule of finals, kid," said Jongdae suddenly popping up behind his brother, "coffee makes you nuts and gives you the runs. Stick to green tea, the drink of our ancestors. It'll keep you awake and focused without making you crazy."
"I'm not a kid," glared Sehun as he pulled the cup back into his hands and lifted it to his lips, "I'm 19 and my name is Oh Sehun."
"I'm Kim Jongdae, I'm 26 and own my own business," retorted Jongdae, snorting when Sehun made a face at the drink. "You are barely surviving your first year of college, and the youngest person in the building. Ergo, you are a kid."
Jongin laughed and smacked his brother playfully on the back. He looked at Sehun and urged the younger to drink the tea while he did the same. Sehun protested but took a small sip before taking a drink. The student quietly continued to drink the tea till it was all gone. Jongin gathered up the empty dishes and took them back into the kitchen, Jongdae following closely behind.
"How do you know that brat anyway?" Asked Jongdae to his brother, jerking a thumb in Sehun's direction
"He's in the dance class I assist in." Replied Jongin with a smile, "I look in on him from time to time. He's not from around here."
"Ah," nodded Jongdae
"Poor guy has had it rough," muttered Jongin, putting the dishes in the sink. "He has no family and was raised in an orphanage. He's on scholarship from the school."
"Damm," commented Jongdae shaking his head, "no wonder he was downing coffee like it was water."
"He has to, if he wants to pass this semester and keep his scholarship." Mumbled Jongin.
Jongdae was about to say something when the back door opened and Minseok and Joonmyeon came walking in from the outside carrying empty trash bins, snowflakes in their hair. Jongdae grinned and pointed at his cousins.
"Hey, grandpa!" Said Jongdae loudly, "I was wondering where you ran off to! Did you see Suho outside? I swear he went out to take out the garbage but you came back instead."
"Ha ha," retorted Joonmyeon, glaring lightly at his cousin, "you come up with that all on your own?"
"You know it." Smirked Jongdae, "keeping it fresh unlike you."
"Bruh the snow is more fresh then both your jokes combined." Grinned Minseok, grabbing the trash bin from his brother and putting them in the corner.
"What's that old timer?" Joked Jongdae, "I couldn't hear you over my awesomeness."
"This pretentious bastard," grinned Minseok, "where did he come from?"
"Did your friend get enough to eat Nini?" Asked Joonmyeon, changing the subject while washing his hands in the sink
"Yeah, thanks hyung." Smiled Jongin, "he looks more normal than he did when he first walked in."
"That's good," nodded Joonmyeon, wringing his hands, "I'll pack some tea and honey for him so he can make some at the dorms, and give him a drink card he can use here."
"You're the best hyung" smiled Jongin gratefully
"I've seen my fair share of stressed out students." Brushed off Joonmyeon "it's the least I can do."
"Show off." Muttered Jongdae but still smiled.
Joonmyeon was the always the soft one of the group, Jongin was the second. Jongdae was the sarcastic one. Minseok was the adventurous out going one of the group.
There was something familiar and homely about them. They were all raised together and came from the same family (their mothers being sisters), even when they pursued their own careers (or moved overseas as was Minseok's case) they always managed to come back to each other, like a family. They even adopted others into their little family. Yixing being the last one they took in after Baekhyun brought him into the shop one day and introduced him as his boyfriend.

Jongin looked back at Sehun who was now staring out the window, hands intertwined together, muttering to himself. The dance instructor smiled, even now, Sehun was still studying in his head.

“Since I have you all here,” started Joonmyeon suddenly, standing by the storage closet, holding a large cardboard box in his arms, “Why don’t you guys decorate the cafe for me? I’m too tired to do it.”

“You really going to trust us to decorate this place?” asked Jongin rhetorically as he took the box from his cousin, “What will that diva, Baekhyun say if he heard we decorated?”

“I’m down!” said Jongdae excitedly, “I haven’t picked on Baekhyun in awhile, this will be fun!”

“You play a dangerous game hyung,” commented Jongin, handing the box to his brother while shaking his head, “I’m surprised you’ve lived this long knowing Baekhyun.”

“He’s a hyper-active puppy,” insisted Jongdae as he put the box down and opened it, “all bark and no bite.”

“I think he would make an exception in your case.” chuckled Joonmyeon who sat down at one of the tables and tugged his apron off.

“Who’s Baekhyun?” asked Minseok innocently behind his brother and sat across from Joonmyeon

“A coworker and friend.” explained Joonmyeon, waving at Jongin to hand him the garland so he can untangle it.

“A giant pain in the .” added Jongin

“A spoiled princess.” added Jongdae

“Is he the pastry chef you told me about Joon?” wondered Minseok as he took the christmas lights from Jongdae, giving his best friend a look

“Nah that’s Kyu-”

“I FOUND SNOW IN A CAN!” shouted Jongdae suddenly, startling not only his brother and cousins but Sehun as well, holding up a tall aluminuim spray can

“No,” said Joonmyeon, Minseok, and Jongin in unision

“Give me that,” snapped Jongin, ing the tube of ornaments into Jongdae’s hands, “You take these.”

“Ah come on!” groaned Jongdae

“You have been banned from anything in a spray can, ‘Dae,” reminded Minseok

“That was ONE TIME!” cried Jongdae, “And you guys did not DIE, if I recall.”

“Dude I still can’t look at a can of Hawaiian breeze air freshner without gagging.” retorted Jongin.

Sehun couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on his lips as he watched Jongin and his brothers argue and playfully fight with each other. They looked happy and like a family to him. ‘I wonder what that is like’ thought Sehun to himself as he looked away and stared up at the snow falling down. With the weather like it was, chances were class was going to be cancelled tomorrow, if he was lucky. Sehun sighed and touched the window with his fingertips.

‘I wish I could experience what it’s like to have a family.’

“Yah, Oh Sehun!” shouted Jongdae, throwing a plastic ornament ball at the student’s shoulder, getting his attention, “Get over here and help me hang these things!”

Sehun looked over to Jongin who was laughing with Minseok, holding up the can of snow, drawing on one of the windows. Joonmyeon was seperating the decorations, looking tired but happy. Sehun nodded his head and got up from his seat.

“What can I do?” he asked

Kyungsoo sighed as he finished the last episode of the season. He looked down and smiled when he saw Chanyeol had falled asleep with his head in his lap.

Chanyeol, clean and in a new pajamas, buried his face deeper into the pillow he had be hugging while they were watching The Big Bang Theory, hiding his face from Kyungsoo. Smiling at how childish his tall friend behaved when he slept, Kyungsoo ran his fingers through Chanyeol’s soft hair.

Kyungsoo pulled the sheet near the window they were by inside the fort open and stared at the snow that was coming down. He smiled sadly at the white flakes, feeling a dull ache in his heart at the beauty of the snow. He couldn’t help but let his mind wander as he watched the snow fall down on the sleepy city streets below.

If there was one thing he hated about the snow, it would be the sadness he felt whenever he looked at it. Kyungsoo never use to hate the snow, just like Chanyeol. He was actually fond of the snow. He loved the winter season and all the activities and holidays that came with it. Nowadays he just wasn’t too fond of the cold or the spirit of the holidays. Maybe it was because he was too tired these days to feel festive.

Chanyeol on the other hand…

It wasn’t long ago that Chanyeol would be the most enthusiastic about the holidays. Chanyeol was usually the one who got everyone into Christmas and went all out on decorations, presents, activities, and parties. He was the expert in the group when it came to celebrating Christmas.

The last three years however, you couldn’t get Chanyeol to put up a Christmas ornament let alone out of his apartment to go to the annual Christmas party.

Kyungsoo wants to blame Kris for the reason why Chanyeol hates this time of year. But he can’t bring himself to do it. Regardless of how he up and left them without so much as an explanation, he was still Kyungsoo’s friend. Chanyeol would be sad if he heard Kyungsoo or any of their friends say they hated Kris for what he did. A sad Chanyeol was never good for anyone (just like Jongdae with a spray can).

Kyungsoo looked up at the snow one more time.

“You use to force all of us to go out to the park so we can make a wish together,” whispered Kyungsoo, “Do you remember that, Chanyeol?”

Kyungsoo felt his eyes water at the memory of the last time they all gathered together and they all made a wish on the snow. Chanyeol looked so happy, despite having a cold. Kris was fretting over Chanyeol, holding him close, muttering that he was going to get even more sicker. Chanyeol shrugged him off and said it was worth it. Kris smiled warmly at Chanyeol and held him even closer, if more urgently.

“Should I make a wish on the snow Chanyeol?” asked Kyungsoo softly

Chanyeol didn’t answer, but softly snored.

“If I had one wish Chanyeol, it would be this:” whispered Kyungsoo, “I wish for this slump we are in, was gone. So we can go back to the way things were. Back to when you were happy, and I wasn’t so scared.”

“Did you make a wish yet Joon?” asked Jongdae quietly as he stared up at the falling snow

“Yeah I did.” smiled Joonmyeon as he watched Jongin walk Sehun down the street toward the university.

“Me too.”

‘I wish my family was back together for Christmas.’
