           It was yet another rainy day in the ever so gloomy town of Wayward. The skies were gray, the sun was long lost, the wind was howling at the countable buildings and thunder struck so loud, it shook the hearts of those who were awake to hear it. At exactly 2:23AM, two friends were wide awake, each protected from the cruel weather by the warmth of their own houses. While one was sharing a room with her older sister, the other stayed home alone; as her parents decided to follow one of their many shenanigans and go on a hike on mount Denali in Alaska. Being the highest peak of the United States and North America; her parents’ thirst for thrill basically threw them over the cliff of excitement when they knew they had a few weeks off from their regular jobs.

            Out of boredom, the home alone decided to text her fiend

  jsj94: Am?

Not long after, the recipient started typing;

            Ajol92is typing…

            Ajol92: Yes? Why are you up so late?

             jsj94: The rain is too annoying can’t sleep. What are you doing?

              Ajol92: I’m studying :’(

              jsj94: Oh is that what they call these days :P

              Ajol92: wtf Soojung!

              Ajol92:I still can’t believe what Kris did today tho…

              jsj94: Yeah, that was extreme! Who thought the ever so quiet Kris could pull something like that

              Ajol92: It was freaking embarrassing! How the hell am I supposed to go back to school now?!

               jsj94: Chill Am. It’s not that bad

               Ajol92: Says the one who laughed her a*ss off at me for 2 straight hours!

               jsj94: I’m your bestfriend! I’m like the only one who has the right to laugh at you

                Ajol92: Yeah yeah. Wait a sec. I’ll go get me some water.

                jsj94: You’re probably just skipping to another o

                Ajol92: shut the f*uck up, Soojung.

Less than ten minutes later, Amber returned to her room and unlocked her phone. Continuing her conversation with her bestfriend,

                Ajol92: Soojung?

                Ajol92: Did you fall asleep?

                Ajol92: Soooojjjjuuuunnngggiiieeee

                 jsj94: Amber, someone is in our backyard I can hear their footsteps

                 Ajol92: So? It’s probably some drunkard.

                 jsj94: But they’re kind of loud

                 jsj94: I think it’s a man

                  Ajol92: Ask your crazy father to check it out then.

                  jsj94: my parents are out of town you idiot! I told you already

                  Ajol92: Yeah, kinda forgot. Don’t think much of it, Soojung.

                   jsj94: Wait a sec I’ll look from my window

                    Ajol92: Alright, be careful.

                    jsj94: brb

Just like she said, Soojung opened her window carefully, making sure it’s a small gap; so she can see the outside of the house and those outside can’t see her. With wide eyes, she saw a vague figure of a man, he was kneeling on the ground and digging in it with his bare hands. He was digging furiously; as if looking for something he’s hidden there. The young teenager ran to her phone, she held it in her hands and returned to the window; sitting on the floor under it.

                   jsj94 is typing…

                   jsj94: Am wtf there’s a man in our back yard he’s digging in the ground with his bare hands I’m scared!

                   Ajol92 is typing…

                   Ajol92: Calm down, Soojung. It’s probably some drunk dude, he’ll be gone soon.

                   jsj94: Amber I’m really scared

                   Ajol92: What does he look like?

                    jsj94: I don’t know he’s not facing me

                    jsj94: wait I’ll look again

And with that, Soojung stood up carefully and peeked through the small gap. He was standing still and looking at her house. She fell to the floor in fright; dropping her phone. What she’d just saw scared her greatly. She held her phone again.

                     jsj94 is typing…

                    jsj94: AMBER WTF!!!!

                    Ajol92 is typing…

                    Ajol92: What?

                   jsj94: HOW THE ARE YOU DOING THAT AMBER IT’S NOT FUNNY!

                   Ajol92: Doing what, Soojung? I don’t understand.

                   jsj94 is typing…

                   jsj94: it’s you down there! I see you! How the hell are you standing theredoing nothing and typing and the same typing??!!

                  Ajol92: Soojung, that’s not me…

                 jsj94: Amber it’s you! You’re wearing you’re red sweater!! Stop playing around I can see you! Look up I’m pounding on the window for you to look up!!!

                  Ajol92 is typing…

                  Ajol92: Soojung, stop!! It’s not me!!

                  jsj94: stop it Amber! Is this one of your friends’ stupid pranks?!

                  Ajol92: Soojung, I’m home with my sister and parents!! And none of my friends look like me, Soojung!!

Soojung did not notice that ‘Amber’ was now staring at her; with a dangerous glare and a horrifying smile. As soon as she read Amber’s text, she looked down at ‘her’. And for a second time, she fell to the floor in fright. Fully realizing that this creature outside could not be her bestfriend; even though it was wearing her bestfriend’s favorite sweater; that she herself gave her on her birthday.

                 jsj94: Amber it saw me

                 jsj94: I’m scared

                 Ajol92 is typing…

                 Ajol92: What did he do?

                 jsj94: it… it’s not human… the way it smiled at me it can’t be human

                 jsj94: Amber what should I do?!!

                 Ajol92: Soojung, do you know where your dad hides his pistol?

                jsj94: yeah

                Ajol92: Go get it.

                jsj94: I can’t just shoot someone Amber!!
