Chapter 1

Arron walked on the street feeling happy as always. He passed by some kids on the playground who were playing with a ball. One of the kids suddenly kicked the ball to hard and it flew to Arron's direction and landed right on his feet. Arron grinned and took the ball from the ground. It was the usual colorful ball which can be found in all stores. A few kids ran up to him and asked him for the ball politely. Arron smiled and handed them the ball. Before leaving, he told them to be more careful and the kids said their thanks and byes. Arron continued to walk on the pavement while looking at the people passing by. Strangely, he was in a way better mood then ever. He saw a few couples walking by and he envied them but he said to himself that soon, he won't be alone anymore. He'll soon have a person who he can care and love with all his heart and the same goes to that person. Arron was a very charming and handsome guy. He had a lot of admirers. Even the prettiest girls in school simply adores him but he only have one place in his heart which goes to a girl named Gui Gui. Many people don't understand why he likes her because to mostly everybody, Gui Gui is just another girl and there's nothing special about her but to Arron, she's the most precious person in the world and nothing could ever change that. In the beginning, Arron was too shy to go and confess his feelings to Gui Gui. When finally he built up the courage, his best friend, Wang Zi , was already dating her. He couldn't blame him because he never told Wang Zi about Gui Gui so Arron just kept quiet for the past few months until now. He got a call from Wang Zi yesterday saying that he and Gui Gui broke up. Arron tried to control his happiness and thought that he played it off pretty well. Now, he's walking to a chinese restaurant to meet up with Wang Zi. Arron decided to finally tell Wang Zi about his major crush on Gui Gui. He's not sure about how Wang Zi will react but after what he heard yesterday, he was pretty sure Wang Zi wouldn't be upset. He passed by some flowers and took a few. After 10 minutes of walking, he already had 10 stems of different flowers. He had to stop himself or else he'll have millions. He din't know who he was going to give them to but he just felt like picking them. The aroma was relaxing and just the sight of the flowers made him think about Gui Gui. He thought that the flowers resembled Gui Gui. The flower was pretty and it makes people light hearted. The flower petals were soft and fragile. The stem of the rose has thorns which resembles Gui Gui's courage and bravery. Gui Gui was everything the flowers were. Pretty, charming, fragile but strong at the same time. When your around her, her happiness will transfer to you so whenever Arron feels down, he'll call or meet up Gui Gui and he'll be in the greatest mood ever. Before he knew it, he was in front of the chinese restaurant. He went in and smiled at the girl behind the reception. The girl who acted behind her instinct, smiled shyly and blushed. Arron told him about Wang Zi and the reservation. The girl led him to a private area and once he got through the VIP room, he saw Wang Zi who was texting. Once they got to the table, Arron said his thanks to the girl and she left. Arron sat down on the chair and waited for Wang Zi to notice him. He waited and waited for about 20 minutes but Wang Zi was still busy texting and din't even look up once. Finally Arron ran out of patience and waved his hands over Wang Zi's face while shouting his name. "Oh your here. About time now.. Hold on for a while," said Wang Zi, not looking up. Arron rolled his eyes and laid back while waiting for his friend to stop texting whoever he was texting. Finally Wang Zi looked up and gave a smile. "Hey, why were you late? I was waiting here for like 30 minutes!" exclaimed Wang Zi. "I was walking. Oh which reminds me, these flowers are for you and I waited for you for like 20 minutes!" replied Arron giving Wang Zi the flowers. Wang Zi saw the flowers and was startled by the kind gesture. Too kind. "Uhh, thanks? Err dude, I'm not gay," said Wang Zi slowly. Arron looked at him for a while and gave out a loud laughter. After he was finished laughing, he said,"Wang Zi, your like my brother! I don't fall for my own brother! My heart is for someone else!" Wang Zi gave a loud sigh of relief and said," Oh thank god. I thought that because of my good looks and great personality, you fell inlove with me." Arron rolled his eyes and sat up straight. "So what are we eating?" asked Wang Zi. "Oh, I already ordered before you came. So who's the girl?" replied Wang Zi. "What girl?" said Arron. "You know, the part where you said my heart is for someone else. Or is it a boy? joked Wang Zi and got a playful punch from his friend. "Ermm well, there's this girl. I've been crushing on her for some time now and..." Before he could finish his sentence, Wang Zi interrupted and said, "Wait.. How long is some time? Why din't you tell me? I thought we were best friends!" "Let me finish! As I was saying, the girl is Gui Gui. I loved her before you two were dating but I din't have the guts to tell her before and when I did have the guts, you two were dating so I just kept quiet. I know it's wrong for me to try to court her after you two broke up but I hope you understand but if you don't then I can wait for a few more months or years.. So, what do you think?" said Arron, worried about his friend's reaction. Wang Zi looked at him sternly for quite some time and Arron thought that Wang Zi wouldn't agree to it so he was about to say 'forget it' when Wang Zi started laughing and slapping playfully on his back. Arron looked at him confusingly which only made his friend laugh even more harder. "Confused here?" said Arron after a few minutes. "Arron, I know you like Gui Gui! That's why we broke up!" exclaimed Wang Zi in between laughs. "Wait! So what your saying is I'm the cause of your break-up? Wang Zi, if Gui Gui still loves you then go and make up! I don't want to see her sad!" replied Arron. "Arron, your not our only problem! We thought we had something in the beginning but in the end, it just seems like our love lessens in time so we broke up," said Wang Zi, more seriously this time. Arron smiled at his answer and before he could say something, the waitress came and served their food. Wang Zi told him to go to Gui Gui and court her. He also told Arron everything Gui Gui likes and hates so Arron had more chance to win her heart. They ate their dumplings while talking about Gui Gui. Once they were done, Arron excused himself to go and find Gui Gui for his confession. He was walking in the streets, finding some shops to buy some stuff for Gui Gui. He saw a cute chocolate shop and went inside. He took 20 minutes to find a heart-shape box of various kinds of chocolates. He smiled at the worker behind the counter and paid for the chocolates. The lady smiled at him and said,"Good luck" Arron looked at her, confused and she explained that a lot of guys come here for their confession and they pick the exact same chocolate. Arron took the chocolates and said thank you to the lady before going out of the door. Then, he passed by a florists and took his time to pick out the perfect bouquet of flowers. In the end, he bought 12 roses. The other rose was fake. He knew that this method was cliche but he couldn't think of anything else. He also picked out some lavender to go with the roses. He asked the lady to place the roses in a heart shape in the bouquet so that it would seem more special. Arron paid for his bouquet of roses and held them in his right hand. He was still smiling and grinning while walking to Gui Gui's house. He passed couples and his smile got wider as he was certain that he would be able to win Gui Gui's heart. He continued to walk faster and faster when he was nearer to Gui Gui's house. He reached the row of houses and walked a couple more blocks before he opened the gate and walked to the door. Before he rang the doorbell,he straightened his clothes and recited what he was going to say. He look around him and saw the sun shining brightly and the clouds, more fluffy then ever. He even saw a cloud the shape of a heart. By now, he was more than confident that he was going to get her. He rang the doorbell and waited patiently. He heard some footsteps getting louder and louder as the person was getting nearer to the door. The door slowly opened and half of Gui Gui's face was revealed. Arron immediately smiled his best smile when he saw Gui Gui. She replied his star and opened the door wider. Gui Gui motioned him to come in and he did. Once they were in the living room and Arron was sitting on the couch, Gui Gui offered him some drinks and went to get some. While he waited, he examined his surrounding. The walls were colorful. It was red, orange, purple, blue and green but most of the walls were painted white. He was sitting on a black leather couch and in the middle was a glass coffe table with today newspapers and a mug of coffee. There was a plasma screen TV and a rack of CDs and DVDs. There were also a lot of photo frames. There were a lot of pictures of Gui Gui and her family but one picture got Arron's attention. It was a picture of him and her together. It was 2 years ago when he first liked her but din't had the courage to tell her. They were in Disneyland, having fun the whole day. For Arron, it was the best day of his life. Before Arron could think anything else, Gui Gui came out from the kitchen with a tray of drinks. She placed a glass of coke on the table for Arron and took the mug of coffee for herself. "So, what bring you here?" asked Gui Gui. "Ermm, I have something to tell you," said Arron, stuttering at the last part. Gui Gui smiled slightly at him, in her head wondering what it was. Gui Gui motioned him to go on and he did. "Well you see, 2 years ago, I felt something for you. I liked you. A lot. But I din't have the courage to tell you and when I did have the courage to tell you, you were already dating Wang Zi so I just kept quiet and loved you secretly from afar. And now since your not dating Wang Zi anymore, I thought I would give it a try. I know it's sudden and you just broke up so if you won't accept me now, it's okay," confessed Arron quickly but it was enough for Gui Gui to hear. Arron was looking down the whole time he was confessing his feelings to Gui Gui so when he finally looked up, he saw that Gui Gui was already in tears. "Gui, what's wrong?" asked Arron softly and tried to wipe her tears away but before he touched her face, Gui Gui pushed his hands away. Arron was hurt by what she did. "Arron, I'm sorry but I can't accept you. Now now, not forever. I'm really sorry. your a great guy and all but your not right for me," said Gui gui softly. Arron just stared at her, hurt. Arron tried to control his tears from falling but it obviously din't work out. One by one, his tears fell. He couldn't do anything as he thought that he was about to die. Nothing could possibly hurt more. Nothing. He could fall from Taiwan 101 and the pain can't even compare to how he was feeling right now. He said to himself that he might as well go and jump off the building so he would die and feel nothing. "I think you should leave," said Gui Gui slowly and softly, between her sobs. As if Arron hadn't felt enough pain, Gui Gui just increased it by asking him to leave. He slowly stood up and dragged his feet to the door, forgetting about the flowers and chocolates. He din't even say bye but all that was heard were his feet, sobs and the door. Once Arron was gone, gui gui stared at the flowers and chocolates which were left behind. "Arron, I'm sorry. I just can't accept you. I don't want to hurt you even more," whispered Gui Gui to herself and cried herself into a ball and eventually to sleep.
