Prologue  

Someone’s POV

I walked along the wide hallway, making my way to the main doors. My shift was starting soon. Ever since the Dark Queen, Mi Ran, tried to attack us, our queen, Areum, had wanted us, the twelve guardians, to take turns and guard the main doors. I increased my pace, knowing I won't make it in time if I walked at the speed that I was currently going. I’m pretty sure he won’t be happy if I was late. I froze in my tracks when I walked past a certain room that two of us share. Strange. I heard a woman’s voice.

We aren’t supposed to have anyone enter our rooms, mainly due to security reasons. You never know if anyone’s a spy. It’s always best to be cautious just like how Suho wants it to be. I approached the door and stood outside, trying to listen to the conversation. It was full of whispers. But, since all the twelve guardians are enhanced beings, we have sharp hearing.

“I’m putting my trust in the both of you, so do NOT disappoint me.” Despite it being a hushed conversation, I can still hear the demanding tone of the woman. It was full of authority. There were goosebumps all over my body. There was this bitter aftertaste to her words. It was of pure malice and evil.

“You can trust the both of us, my queen.” I frowned. That voice...it’s so familiar.

“We will do anything to bring her down.” My eyes widen. Her? Who is that ‘her’ they are talking about? Who is that woman inside? Why are they...Are they betraying us?

“Honestly, without the ten of them, she will be powerless. The reason she’s strong is because she has those ten idiots guarding her with their lives.”  What?! I backed away from the room, wanting to get away from those betrayers. How could they? After all we’ve been through as guardians.

In the next second, all I could hear was footsteps.

“Someone’s outside.”
