JINHYE

It was the 12th of December. A cold, snowy winter. 

I felt a little nervous, but I was ready.

And there he was. Standing, waiting patiently for me. I quickly ran up to him excitedly. “Y-you read the note I sent you. Right?” I eagerly asked and Kyungsoo nodded. I blushed and took his hand.

We went to the school benches where we usually hang out along with a few other friends. The space was quiet and empty so thankfully, there weren’t much people watching us.

“Do you, still remember? When we first met?” I asked as I looked at the bare, winter tree.  “Yeah, we were still in fifth grade back then.” He replied. “I can’t believe after a few days we’ll be graduating here. Time sure flies.” Kyungsoo added.

I simply smiled, “I’m going to miss this place.”  All the teachers, our classmates and especially… you.

There's no way that I liked Kyungsoo more than just a classmate or a friend. I thought. When we've first met, Kyungsoo and I were paired to sit together in class. Our homeroom teacher thought that we would get along well especially since our families are good friends. However, the first few days at school were awkward since we never knew much about each other. Not even a simple ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’ kept the conversation flowing. But throughout going through my elementary school days with Kyungsoo, it turns out that he wasn’t that bad as I’d thought he would be after all.

Then I realised during sixth grade, that our bond between us was more than just friends.

I ended up falling in love with him.

If only, if only I wished that I could’ve stayed here so I didn’t have to leave Kyungsoo behind.  

My heart was beating fast and my stomach was turning with fluttering butterflies. This was the chance I'd been waiting for. I needed to tell him how I truly felt before it’s too late. So I took a deep breath "Kyungsoo, there's something I need to tell you."

Kyungsoo faced me in surprise, "What is it Jinhye?"

"We've been friends ever since the beginning. Now that we’re graduating soon, it wouldn’t feel the same without you because, I don’t want to leave your side. I…I  like you Kyungsoo. "
