Daddy

“Is Hyuk doing fine?” Hakyeon asked, phone in hand and it was on loud-speaker. Luckily there weren’t a lot of people there so he could be as loud as he wanted without thinking if he would bother anyone. He missed Hyuk a lot, it was like he wanted to run back to his apartment and hug his Baby Boy and spend his time with him all day, but he couldn’t and that surely .

Taekwoon, who was in the other line hummed. “He’s fine. I put him to sleep about 2 hours ago so he would probably be up sooner.” He answered, almost sounding too calm. Even though Taekwoon sat right beside the sleeping baby on the couch, he couldn’t help but give the sleeping baby glances in case if he's awake or not.

“I’m sorry for making you take care of him again. I don’t know my flight would be tomorrow” Hakyeon sighed, feeling a bit guilty to Taekwoon. It happened a lot of times and he couldn’t help but think that Taekwoon would probably get bored of being alone in Hakyeon’s house with his only child.

“No worries, Hakyeon. Besides, I have nothing better to do and my boyfriend is at work so I have no reason to bother him. You still have to treat me, though.” He said as he laughed playfully, causing Hakyeon to also laugh.

Well, Hakyeon always bought Taekwoon what he wanted anyway. “Okay then! Thank you so much and I’ll treat you dinner! Pick me up tomorrow and I’ll text you the time later.”

“Okay then. See you.”

“You too.”

He turned to be silent after the call, having his mind full of one thing and he couldn't stop sighing. He felt bad. Hakyeon left Hyuk and let Taekwoon took care of him because Hakyeon wanted to meet his boyfriend. Since he and Jaehwan got a lot of opportunities on going overseas because their Companies were related, they often met in other countries and spending the other 2 and 3 free days together. Of course, they could meet because of their job, but they also spent the time together, going on dates and other things couples do so Hakyeon felt really bad about it.

And Hakyeon then remembered of how clueless Jaehwan was about Hyuk's existence in Hakyeon's life. Perhaps it was already time to tell him, but his heart doubted whether how Jaehwan would react about it. He wasn’t ready for it.

Hakyeon saw Jaehwan walking from afar and realized that he had been thinking of a lot of things. he decided to 'Be happy, Hakyeon. Jaehwan is coming and you don’t want him to get worried about you'  He had the smile he wore after Taekwoon’s phone call as he stood up, waving to Jaehwan who had finally noticed him after waves of his hand.

Hakyeon had been friends with Jaehwan for years and their relationship remained Sunbae-Hoobae before Jaehwan confessed to him that he liked the older and wanted to go on dates with him. It wasn’t a bad thing either, Hakyeon should enjoy his life like most of people.

When they went out of the cafe, Hakyeon was carrying a frappe and his bag but Jaehwan took his bag to hold it so he could entwine his fingers with Hakyeon's while walking down the streets.

“What time is your flight going to be?” Hakyeon asked as he sipped his frappe he’s grabbing in hand.

Jaehwan stopped for a while to think, “I actually haven’t booked mine. I supposed to book it today because I was only here to visit my aunt.” He said with a smile.

Hakyeon nodded then. So that’s why he hadn’t talked about anything related to work like he used to. “Why don’t you book it for tomorrow’s flight?”

“I’d love to, but I have nowhere to st-“

“You can stay with me until tomorrow. I have no one to accompany me.” Hakyeon wanted him to stay with him. He had been feeling alone, he had no one to accompany him and his assistant had already got back to Korea because of some family issues. Hakyeon wanted someone to be with him and shares hugs and kisses even for a day, and he hoped Jaehwan would agree with it.

On the other side, Jaehwan couldn’t help but think of all the possibilities that would happen if they’re in a room. Only both of them, for the night. He believed that they wouldn’t do such things until they were official. He had already promised Hakyeon not to, even though they both wanted to do it. Jaehwan he loved Hakyeon the way he was and wanted nothing more from Hakyeon except him and his love.

After they entered the hotel lobby, Hakyeon got reminded of the baby clothes for Hyuk he had bought after a meeting. There were lots of them, and he didn’t have time to put it in his luggage and placed it on the floor where he had squealed around and imagined if his son were in the clothes. He was doomed. He couldn’t think of anything to do, he couldn't just tell Jaehwan to stay outside while he ‘tidy’ up the mess.

It came to the moment when the two of them were in the elevator and Jaehwan leaned close to Hakyeon and how he realized that he hadn’t been touched by anyone that far. His breath hitched when Jaehwan reached Hakyeon’s neck and he let go when it’s already on the floor where Hakyeon’s hotel room was.

“I’m feeling tired, lately,” Jaehwan said with a sigh after they got out of the elevator.

The other guy smiled and motioned him for a hug to Jaehwan and Jaehwan gladly pulled him for one and rested his chin above Hakyeon’s head, buried his face to smell his sweet hair scent. Hakyeon felt really comfortable. “You can rest after this.”

I should really tell him the truth.’ About Hyuk, about how Hakyeon was having a 1 year and 6 months old baby boy who was probably being fed by his one and only best friend at the time.

As they entered the room, Hakyeon suddenly pulled Jaehwan for a slow kiss. Jaehwan loosen his grip on the bag and made it fall to the ground, his thoughts were going everywhere he didn’t want. His left hand was on Hakyeon’s cheek and the right was trying hard to close the door in case someone would pass by and he didn’t really want anyone to see them making out.

He was expecting something, but no.

Oh damn, this couldn’t be happening. They’re not doing this, alright.

He had never want to think of anything for such a long time but he swore he saw a bunch of baby clothes on the floor near the TV after they let go of each other to catch some breaths. He wanted to ask Hakyeon who was that for, but it would ruin the moment. Maybe later.

But the kiss never got rougher even after Hakyeon pushed Jaehwan to the bed and jumped beside him. They completely had no lust and Hakyeon did that to make Jaehwan sleep immediately, considering how a hard-sleeper he was.

“Jaehwan-ah,”

Calling him with his real name once again was really good. All those years of dating, they were trapped in the company relationship that made them had to talk formally and it was really hard for them to leave it even though they were alone. Jaehwan had missed this, too, he missed how Hakyeon called him like he used to and he was glad Hakyeon could finally do it again.

“Are we going to drop the formal language from now on?”

Hakyeon then nodded happily. With a giggle, Hakyeon smiled to Jaehwan and whispered ‘Good night,’ before he snuggled near the other and close his eyes to sleep. He should wake up earlier than Jaehwan and tidy up the clothes at that time, he put a mental note on his head.

“Hakyeon-ah,” It was still weird to call the other by his name and no ‘Hyung’ at the end. But Hakyeon wanted it. He said he wanted Jaehwan to be comfortable with him and not thinking about their age-gap.

Hakyeon heard Jaehwan calling him.  “Hmm?”

“Can I come over to your house? Since it’s Sunday and I haven’t been on your house since 2 years ago.”

Hakyeon panicked after that. Jaehwan was facing his back so he’s glad Jaehwan couldn’t really see his expression. Should he lie? Should he let him and see Hyuk and also lie that Hyuk is his cousin? Well, maybe he shouldn’t. They’d passed the puppy dating stage. It’s really time for him to know.

Hakyeon excused himself to go to the toilet, not forgetting to get his phone from the bed and quickly went to Taekwoon's profile to call. “Jaehwan is coming over! What to do?”

“Go and tell him the truth. I’ll be here until he leaves so I better tidy this place up.”

“But… Taekwoon. don’t you think it’ll be so weird? What if he doesn’t like babies?”

“Really, Hakyeon? Are you worried just because of this? We’ve been friends with him for years. Of course, he does.'

“Yeah, he does,” Hakyeon said as he rolled his eyes, Or else you would kill him. Can I talk to Hyuk?”

There were small footsteps and it seemed like Taekwoon handed his phone to Hyuk. “Hyuk-ah it’s your mother. He said he’s gonna bring your father this afternoon.”

Hakyeon heard something like ‘Mama’ coming from Hyuk’s mouth and then a happy giggle from his baby. How much he missed him and wanted to cuddle him. Hakyeon felt like crying, but he didn’t because he was annoyed of how Taekwoon referred him as ‘mother’ and Jaehwan as ‘father’. He’s a dad, for god’s sake. But he didn’t realize himself was already used to it.

“Mommy’s here! How are you, sweetheart? I’m going back home today so wait for me, okay? I love you, my dear Hyukkie!”

“Don’t be such a baby, I’m gonna bring Hyuk with me.”

“I’m not! Oh, I need to go to the airport and Jaehwan’s gonna be suspicious of I stay here for a long time. Bye. Taekwoon!”

“Yeah, Hakyeon. See you at the airport.”

On the trip to home, Jaehwan seemed to not be able to take off Hakyeon’s hand (not that Hakyeon would mind, either. Instead he was enjoying it.) and kissed him every time Hakyeon closed his eyes to sleep because he didn’t want his lover to go to sleep and he wanted to talk more to Hakyeon because they both knew they didn’t have much time to do it.

When they arrived at the airport, he saw Taekwoon’s back and Hakyeon started yelling his name for Taekwoon to notice them among hundreds of people who were also in the place. Jaehwan saw straps on Taekwoon’s back and a tiny head peeking from Taekwoon’s right shoulder and waited until Taekwoon noticed their callings to find out.

A baby. Jaehwan swore he saw sparks in Hakyeon’s eyes and it was like he’s about to cry before he decided to run and take the baby off the carriers.

“Baby I missed you so so much!” Hakyeon didn’t notice himself was crying and was busy hugging Hyuk while Jaehwan smiled from the back and hugged Taekwoon who he hadn’t met for months. Hakyeon was feeling so emotional, maybe he was thinking too much about things but he felt his shoulders were free from responsibilities he didn’t actually have after he saw Hyuk. “Oh? why is your shirt dirty? Did he not feed you properly?”

Taekwoon, who was actually feeling awkward and confused about what to do at the situation, decided to not say anything and took Hyuk away from Hakyeon. Jaehwan walked closer to the older to hug him from the back and planted small kisses around his neck and pecked his lips once Hakyeon looked to him and smiled.

He knew Hakyeon hadn’t told Jaehwan about Hyuk and headed to the car which was in the parking lot after telling the other two to follow him. Hakyeon was surprised that Jaehwan was being really quiet and seemed to examine Hyuk from the back like he was curious about the baby. Then the fear was coming back to him but he assured himself not to worry much about it. Jaehwan was going to accept him no matter what happens, he told himself.

“How old is Hyuk though, Hyung?”  Jaehwan asked, having the little arm on his and baby talking the child he assumed to be Taekwoon’s. He was also clueless about it because if Hyuk really was Taekwoon’s, why did Hakyeon seem to love him so much yet Taekwoon was really protective about Hyuk being with Hakyeon. He was really confused.

“Uh… 9 months?” Taekwoon guessed, couldn’t really remember the last time he asked Hakyeon about his child's age.

Hakyeon wanted to just laugh at Taekwoon. “He’s 1 year and 6 months old, honey.”  He said to Jaehwan who nodded after he told him that.

“Sorry, I at ages. I don’t always remember that I’m already 27.”

Jaehwan didn’t know much about babies but he really loved them. He was really shocked when he saw Hyuk walking and following Hakyeon around the house and Jaehwan playfully chased him around which brought happiness and laughter to others. And he was also happy, seeing the baby happy and there was a feeling of wanting to have a child. He wanted to have Hyuk as his child. But he thought that it was stupid because he should kidnap the baby from Taekwoon, which was quite impossible for him to do.

But he was still confused. Hakyeon had never told him about Hyuk. Was he actually his baby cousin he told Jaehwan about a long time ago? But then he remembered that Hakyeon told the story in about 2 years ago, and Hyuk was still a year and six months old. He didn’t want to think about bad possibilities and tried hard to forget about them as he walked to Hakyeon and took Hyuk from him.

And he looked at him in the eyes. There were absolutely no signs of Hakyeon on his face. But he could tell how Hakyeon would give all of him to the baby Jaehwan was carrying at the state. Jaehwan could tell that Hyuk was sleepy and tired from all the playing they did for hours, as he laid Hyuk on his arms and sung him songs quietly for Hyuk to sleep easily.

Hakyeon had been watching them all along how lovingly Jaehwan seemed to treat Hyuk as he lulled his baby to sleep. How he realized he had been acting weird like how often he cried in a day if he did once again. How many times he had told himself that it was already time for Jaehwan to know, and he had already found out Hyuk, it’s really the time for Jaehwan to know.

“Jaehwan-ah,” He whispered quietly to Jaehwan as he took Hyuk to put the sleeping baby in his cradle. “I want to talk to you.” He felt a warm smile linger on his face, and he felt Jaehwan’s lips were against his once again.

“Just tell me.” He grabbed Hakyeon’s hand and focused on him before noticing how there was a hint of fear written over Hakyeon’s face.

He sighed heavily before gripping Jaehwan’s hand tight. “Hyuk is my child. I’m sorry I’ve been keeping him from you because I'm afraid you wouldn’t accept me or even him anymore.” Hakyeon took a deep breath before continuing.

“I found him in front of an abandoned house when I was walking home from work. He didn’t even cry, instead he was laughing happily like nothing bad had happened to him. There was a letter, it said that hyuk was born on 5th July, A week after my birthday and anyone who found the child should take care of him. There was also a full name written on the letter, but the first two words were smudged down by tears, leaving only Hyuk. At that point, I was really going to report him in case if he’s a missing baby, but he wasn’t. I know that he isn’t. The handwriting was so mother-ish, and it had even stains of tears in the letter. It was like I could feel how she felt. So I decided to keep him although he spent more time with Taekwoon because of me being busy all the time. But, having Hyuk is probably the best thing in my life.”

Hakyeon was relieved, but the fear was still there. He knew Jaehwan would react nicely, but he couldn’t help but close his eyes like he was waiting for Jaehwan to react or when would he leave Hakyeon alone through the disappointment. He was waiting if Jaehwan will let go of his hands and really leave.

But he didn’t. Jaehwan reacted by hugging the older really tight. “You made the right choice. I’m proud of having you.” He was kissing Hakyeon’s hair and assured Hakyeon that he did a good thing. And no, I would never leave you, Hakyeon. I love you and I love him too.

Hakyeon was really happy, he couldn’t control his emotions anymore. He’s on the edge of crying until they broke the hug because of the crying sounds Hyuk made. Hakyeon reacted pretty fast, though, Jaehwan was first to pick him up and whispered to Hakyeon that he should be the one to make him sleep. He smiled then, seeing Jaehwan with Hyuk sleeping peacefully in his arms once again.

“Hakyeon-ah?”

“Yeah?”

“Can i-,”Jaehwan chuckled at himself because he was feeling nervous, as he was not used to feel that way. He took a deep breath once again, as he struggled to fish out something from his pocket and there’s a hint of panic on Hakyeon’s face because he was afraid Hyuk would fall from Jaehwan’s arm. But then Jaehwan smiled, and took out a small, red box from the pocket but instead not opening the box and stayed still. “Can i- be his daddy?”

Hakyeon didn’t expect anything. Jaehwan proposing him, and those words- and Hyuk with him, It was actually the best moment ever in his life.

“Yes, yes, you can. Jaehwan-ah. Absolutely, I would really, really love to.” Hakyeon knew he was sounding so nervous because he didn’t really know how to reply it correctly, but he could see Jaehwan already satisfied with his answer.

As he realized he was crying out of happiness and came to hug both of them, practically squeezing Hyuk between them but Hyuk surprisingly didn’t wake up, still sleeping soundly while putting the top of his forehead on the side of Ken’s neck. Jaehwan leaned closer to kiss the older who happily accepted the kiss.

“The reason why I wanted to do this is because of you, I love you and as time goes by, I would probably love him too, more than everything like I do to you. You’re my life, Hakyeon-ah, and he’s gonna be mine too.”

With a chuckle, “Call me daddy from now on, Hyukkie.” he said playfully but with a soft sound, being careful of not to wake the baby up.

“We’re gonna get married!” Hakyeon practically yelled to Taekwoon and got all hyped up he had almost jumped all around the house if Taekwoon didn’t go and stop him. He grinned then, “You’re gonna arrange things. It’s better not to waste your talent, Taekwoon.”

Taekwoon raised his eyebrow. “Wait, what? That fast? Ew, I don’t know you guys are that desperate."

Although, he knew that Jaehwan had planned to marry Hakyeon from the very first start (Even before they knew each other!) but Taekwoon had called Jaehwan crazy because ‘You know how Hakyeon’s like? He’ll probably think you’re a freak.’ He never knew Jaehwan would carry around a ring and search for a perfect moment to propose him. He was pretty sweet.

“Shut up, Taekwoon. You’re jealous because no one had ever asked to marry you.” Hakyeon said as he felt someone pecking his cheek and found Jaehwan laughing beside him with Sanghyuk playing with the collar of his shirt.

The other guy growled in annoyance, “Yah, Hakyeon. Be grateful that I don’t hate Sanghyuk because he has the same name as my boyfriend’s!”

Chapter 1: Oh, my god, this was so CUTE! I love the NEO and HaKen interaction! So incredibly sweet~<3<3<3
Though, I have to agree with Taekwoon, Jaehwan carrying around a ring for so long (was it really since the beginning like it was implied?) is pretty darn creepy...sweet in the end, the a creepy beginning, haha~

Aww, I just have so many feels after reading this. Definitely my favorite HaKen story thus far! Excellent job, and thank you so much for sharing!
