Description

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Foreword

It’s the year 2120 and South Korea is in it’s peak for plastic surgery. Faces along the streets pass along like one, blending into one another. Remodeling is the way of survival. Either you were born with good genes, or you get plastic surgery. There is practically no one who has not undergone the knife.

Min Yoongi is one of the select few born with good genes, a student studying in Seoul who managed to escape the surgeon’s hands. He curses the nation he lives in, hates the faux persona of South Korea, what it has become in the past century.

There is no room for feelings in the sleepless city; students are taught that in a relationship, it is firmly looks and grades. Simply put, find a spouse that is good-looking, have your grades high enough to get a good job, you’ll live a happy life. That’s it.

Min Yoongi refuses to believe this. In his second year of university, Yoongi wants to find someone different from all the plastic faces, all the fakes. He wants to love someone and be loved, neither for money or looks. It’s a simple wish that seems impossible, being loved for oneself in a city of masks. Surrounded in the sea of white pearls, Min Yoongi is left wondering if there’s any hope left to find a black one.
