The Passenger
Description
Minho steps onto the deserted train with two things in hand: a golden engagement ring and a crumpled train ticket—to where, he does not know. The mysterious, familiar railway conductor takes him on a journey of reflection of their past relationship, and by the time they arrive at the final destination, the true purpose of Minho's visit becomes clear.
Foreword
His hand faltered on the gear lever as the distraught voice resonated in his head yet again; it was almost like an incessant refrain that he could not clear his mind of. Minho hyung… I thought you loved me… The helpless tone that had trembled and forced its way into the usually sweet, melodious voice made his insides churn detestably as he cursed himself.
Large drops of rain pelted violently against his window as his windscreen wipers rocked back and forth feverishly, like a metronome set on prestissimo. Such frantic movements, in dissonant harmony with the heavy, ruthless blades of water attacking his window, seemed to echo the exact pace of his heart. It raced, sprinting against time like the heavy beating of horses’ hooves on grass. It raced, as his foot exerted even more pressure on the pedal, sending the vehicle rocketing forward. It raced, as he tightened one hand around the steering wheel and reached his other into his pocket. He pulled out the golden object and examined it. It glistened in the sudden burst of brightness that foretold the coming of another thunderous crash from the skies, and he imagined the way it would adorn his perfectly slender finger, coupled with the cheerful smile that he had so often seen stretched across those pink lips.
Perhaps one second too late, he comprehended that the previous flash had lasted for possibly a little longer than typical lightning. It burned into his face like an intimidating spotlight, illuminating it harshly as he squeezed his eyes shut from the glaring brightness, turning the steering wheel in one jolting movement of his arm and swerving to the side of the road.
As the deafening drone of the intruder pierced his eardrums, his fingers could only clasp around the circle of gold while the strong will inside his heart reminded him, yet again, that he had to reach him as quickly as possible. He had to reach him and tell him it was all an act. He had to reach him so the two of them could chase their happiness together. He had to reach him to tell him: I do, Taemin, I do… I always have, and I always will…
"Then I had the idea of a train... that brings you to... I dunno, places, maybe to nowhere..." - caline
I have never written a boyxboy pairing before, and honestly, never expected myself to. 2min is not my OTP, either. This story is dedicated to none other than my beloved friend/unnie, Val (caline). I love her so much and her faithful love and endless devotion to 2min is truly inspiring and absolutely beautiful.
This is also the first time I have attempted to write something in this particular genre/mood, so hopefully it will turn out all right x)
Hope you all enjoy~ <3
Thank you to Ahjussi & Chicken Graphic Shop for the beautiful poster and background!!! <3
