A Loyal Servant One: " I am your servant, you are my prey " The glistening moon is shining brightly but the dark still envelopes the vertical road where Mino was walking. He is always furious about the light posts that flicker every second making the narrow path quite dark. Not that he's afraid of the dark, but it just gives off an uneasy feeling on Mino's stomach. It makes him want to curl up and shiver. But there's nothing he can do about it. It's just going home. As he was walking, he sighted a sturdy-looking notice board not too far away from where he is, but due to the burnt out post, he could not see the text properly. Dragging his feet on the way, Mino finally reached the notice board and read it loud enough for his voice to echo through the trees. "Notice: Road Re-Construction. Please use the other route on the main highway, or you can try walking through the forest path that leads directly to the mountain dormitories. Thank you" "The mountain dormitories?" Mino mouthed. As lazy as he can be, Mino chose to walk through the forest for he, as he claims, is too old to walk back to the main high-way where the other route is supposed to be. With the cold wind howling through the branches of the gigantic trees, the pitch black forest is certainly not a walkable path. But the slothful Mino won't bulge. He needs to protect his pride as an idle human being and keep up his pace. Picking up his phone, Mino opened his phone and turned the flash on so he can use it as his flashlight. The moment his phone rose with his hand, he noticed a blurred figure not far away from where he is vanished the moment his eyes blinked. He was startled. His heart beat is going too fast. Was it his imagination? He quickly moved his feet but now there was a cracking sound from one of his feet. It made him froze in place. "This is too much" he unconsciously muttered. Quivering, Mino lifted his heavy foot and focused the beaming light of his phone on the damp ground and the thing where the cracking sound came from glistened with a faint shimmering golden light. Mino picked it up and placed it on his watery palm. It was a long gold chained necklace with a now cracked crystal pendant. The jewelry gave Mino chills but at the same time, he can't stop himself from wanting it. With it's gold body, it is sure to be a good exchange for a stack of money. A greedy and lazy man indeed. Mino gave off a faint smile and thought of keeping the necklace, but before he can shove it down to his bag, the cracked crystal began dripping down red fluid from it's core. Mino was astonished as the red fluid seemed and smelled like blood. It was dripping so fast like it was injured. He was creeped out and threw the thing away from him. Now breathing heavily, the frightened man ran as fast as he can. Running through the trees while catching his breathe, Mino started to sweat and the tiny pieces of hair around his neck are standing up. He can feel the strong wind blocking him and making it hard for Mino to run towards the direction he was going. He tried so hard to ran through it but then, a colony of bats flying from above began to chase him. The poor man ran through the maze of trees not knowing where he'll come out, but as he saw a dim light from a corner, he gathered up all his energy and ran towards it, breaking away from the darkness of the haunting forest. Pale, breathless and totally drained, Mino took more steps, for him to get away from that forest. But as he looked up front, he saw his home. The so called 'Mountain Dormitories' is placed before his eyes. His mind went blank as he couldn't imagine he made it back. Mino furrowed his thick eyebrows and looked back at the forest that gave him a very hard time. But to his surprise, all he can see is the road that he usually takes to go to work. There was no sign of gigantic trees and creeping sounds. Just the usual road with the flickering light posts he was always angry about. Mino's eyes widened as he realized there was no forest on this area to begin with. It's a modern city and it's full of concrete buildings and houses. It was only his dormitory that's a little run down but aside from it, everything in the area is full of modern architecture. Was it a dream? No, he is still breathless from running and he can feel his cold hands trembling. Despite from what happened, Mino sluggishly walked back home, to his own cozy room. It was a hell day indeed. Being too tired from his work to stumbling upon a creepy forest that was not originally there. He let out a deep sigh as he open the sturdy door of his room.
