I was inspired by @vermeil 's latest update, 'Letters to Krystal' so I decided to come up with this. If you haven't read 'Letters to Krystal', head over and check it out.

This is actually my first time writing an actual 'thing' on AFF other than leaving paragraphs of comments on fics. I am not very good with words and to be honest, these short notes/letters are not entirely my original work.

It has been a weird few days and I am still flabbergasted by the dating news. I guess this happens when I am too immersed in the whole Kryber relationship. If you are feeling the same (maybe it’s just me), here is the explanation. Or at least I’m trying my best to reason it out.

It’s called parasocial interactions/relationships. Parasocial interactions with real or fictional characters are common occurrences. Parasocial interactions are most common with celebrities, sports teams or television stars. These interactions are one-sided relationships, where one person (the viewer/fan) extends emotional energy, interest and time, while the other party (the celebrity) is completely unaware of the other’s existence.

In layman's terms, this means fans that are emotionally attached to their favourite celebrities would feel emotions that the celebrities feel. It is as though they have an actual connection with them or they are, in fact, THE CELEBRITIES themselves because they are immersed into the lives of their favourite celebrities. For instance, in this scenario, I have this perfect imagination that KryBer was an actual couple. But when the dating news was announced, it didn’t sit well with me because all this while in my head, Kryber was real. It then dawned on me that there is a fine line between fiction and reality. Don’t get me wrong, I am still on the KryBer ship but in my opinion and I am only speaking for myself, I think it’s REALLY time for me to draw a line between reality and fiction. It’s taking a toll on me because I have been so disheartened by the news.
