“These roses don’t have thorns.”

“Of course, they don’t. The florists remove them before they sell the roses to the customers, Dara.”

“Why do they have to remove it?”

“Because the person receiving the roses might get pricked.”

“So?”

“Aisht, this girl! Who would want to get pricked? It would hurt. The thorns have to be removed so nobody will get hurt.”

“Who gave these to you?”

“Seunghyun did!”

“Why?”

“He confessed his love. Can you believe it? He said he loves me. Gosh!”

“Then he should’ve given you roses with thorns.”

“Hey! Do you want me to get pricked? Aisht! You’re really weird-“

The bell ringed signaling that lunch break was over.

“Oh my! I have to go now. Bye, Dara!”

She suddenly turns around, holding out a piece of rose.

“Here.”

When I didn’t move to take it from her, she placed it on top of my lap and dashed away before I could even ask her why she was giving me a rose. I stared at her retreating back until she disappeared from my sight. With a sigh, I picked up the forgotten rose on my lap.

“He should’ve given you roses with thorns.”
