Make It Different

Description

Their first meeting was years ago when they're still kids. Then, they become a best friends together. They passed time together. They even shared everything together.

The older guy always treated the younger one as his little brother. He would always be beside him as a guard for the younger one. As for the younger, he's always be the perfect big brother he could ever had. He couldn't ask for more.

Everything seemed perfect for each other. Little things won't be a problem for them as their brothership won't ever be broken. But what if a small simple but strange thing came between them and changed their perfect life? What if that small simple but strange thing came and messed up everything they had? What if that small simple but strange thing came and simply turned their relationship into the other relation they never even expected before?

Foreword

The eleven years old Bang Yongguk felt like his head was going to explode in no time by the boring sense that hit him badly. He had no heart for those useless talking time by adults in front of him. But he knew that he could do nothing except listening to them. His well manners prevented him to do something impolite, especially to his and his family new neighbor.

Yup, new neighbor. His family just move to this town by his parents business things that he didn’t know why or more. His parents said that the chance for their business was bigger in big city, just like where they’re now, Seoul. And now, being a new comer family in new place, they went visiting their neighbors, and his parents seemed already get along well with them. Yongguk listened what they’re talking about but soon realized not only chit chatting for introducing, but also their business. Were his neighbors business persons like his parents?

“ I see… By the way, Yongguk-ah, are you okay? You don’t talk much,” that soft voice of the lady in front of him snapped Yongguk from his own world back to the reality.

“Ah… No Mrs. Choi, I’m fine,” Yongguk said as he forced to smile. Yeah, actually he’s fine, just felling too bored to be honest. And of course he didn’t talk much! What should he talk about if the topic was business? He even didn’t know what the real meaning of business was.

“Mr. Bang, your son is really good. He didn’t complain anything even he didn’t understand,” Mr. Choid said to his father, laughing a bit. “Sorry for making you bored, Yongguk-ah,” he said and patted the boy’s head. The later just grinned sheepishly, earning a light laugh from the adults and messed hair by his father.

“Daddy~” he whined while trying to make up his hair, slightly annoyed.

The adults can’t help but laugh louder than before. It was just simply cute how the boy tried to act cool like a big boy when his father messed up his hair but end up to cute. “Haha~ Yongguk-ah, what a big boy you are. I’m sure you can be a good big brother for Joonhong,” Mrs. Choi suddenly said.

“Joonhong?”

“Yes, he is our son,” Mr. Choi answered. He glanced to the big clock standing proudly at the corner of the living room. “Yeobo, shouldn’t Joonhong already home at this time? It’s already 11 AM.”

“Yes he should. Maybe they’re caught by traffic. By the way, Yongguk-ah, how old are you now?” Mrs. Choi asked.

“I’m eleven Ma’am.”

“Woah, means you’re 6 years old older than Joonhong. He’s 5 now.”

“5? He’s in kindergarten right?”

“Yup he’s. And Yongguk should be in the highest class of Elementary School right? You’ll face the final Nation examination, won't you? Aren’t that’s hard for you to catch the lesson in different school by only about 6 months until the exam?”

Yongguk just scratched his non itchy head for the question to him. Actually, it wasn’t really a big deal for him since his rank at his latest school never slid from the best top 3. “Haha~ It’s…actually not a big deal for me…” the boy said hesitantly with another forced smile.

“Really? Woah, you must be so smart!” Mr. Choi said in amused.

“Of course! That’s my big boy,” Mr. Bang said and messed his lovely son’s hair again.

They continued their chit chatting with a light bright aura surrounding them. Now, they’re talking about the best school for Yongguk and since he’s about to graduate, the high school for him was a problem. The Choi family helped their new neighbors by recommending the best nearest school, and it came to their little boy’s kindergarten. It’s consisted by kindergarten until senior high with a good quality of education. They said, later they would just enroll his son there.

While the adults were talking about the boy’s later education program, the boy seemed deep in his own thought. The most things that kept running in his mind is the other boy named Choi Joonhong. Mr. and Mrs. Choi said that he’s 6 years younger than him. 6 years? Well…means he won’t be his friend -since he’s way too young to understand him and his things- his little brother. Little brother? It sounded pretty good to him. He always wanted a little sibling for him but when he asked his parents for a little brother or sister, they said it’s not easy to have a child. Then, Yongguk thought, what’s the hard thing for having a kid? Can’t they just have it like those people in cartoon he watched by pelicans that delivery the babies?

Yongguk huffed his bangs. Another boring chat again. He asked himself why adult people like to chit chatting like those persons did. Then, the sound of car engine suddenly stopped their talk.

“Woah, I guess Joonhong is already home,” Mrs. Choi said.

That’s it! Yongguk’s face suddenly turned from the bored one into the brighter one. At least he won’t be as bored as he was now.

Suddenly, a young boy ran across the room cutely with a small bag that still bigger than him on his back to his parents while saying, “Mommy~~ Daddy~~” his step was even waddle.

The mood soon lifted by itself by the presence of the little boy. Mrs. Choi quickly opened her arms and welcomed her little baby boy jumped into her embrace with Mr. Choi patted the boy’s back lovingly.

“Ah… Is he Joonhong?” Mrs. Bang suddenly asked.

“Yes, he is Joonhong our son,” Mrs. Choi replied. “Joonhong-ah, say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Bang, they are our new neighbor,” the mother asked his son to greet the Bang family.

The boy then shifted his seat properly on his mother lap with a cute big smile and did like his mother asked, “Hello Mr. and Mrs. Bang~ I’m Joonhong~ Nice to meet you~” he said with his cute voice and waved his right small hand to the adults.

Light laugh could be hear from the room. The Bang parents waved their hands like the little boy did. “Hello Joonhong~ Nice to meet you too.”

Joonhong grinned even bigger as he received a loving praise from his parents. In the other hand, Yongguk couldn’t hide his frown. Only his parents? Really?

“Joonhong-ah, don’t you want to greet your hyung too? He is Yongguk-hyung. Say hello too to your hyung okay?” Mrs. Choi said while pointing to the older boy.

The frown on Yongguk face suddenly turned into a huge smile hearing his name named. Joonhong followed his mother direction and saw the older boy smiling to him. But instead of greeting him like what he did to the Bang parents, he quickly looked away, hugging his mother by neck and burying his face on his mother’s embrace, unconsciously mumbling something unclear but absolutely cute for the others.

Yongguk seemed a bit shock from the younger boy action. “Sorry Yongguk-ah, Joonhong seems a bit shy today,” Mr. Choi said early a soft chuckle from the other adults.

“Joonhong-ah, say hello to your hyung okay? You won’t let him go home with sad feeling because you ignore him right?” Mrs. Choi said softly to her baby boy.

Joonhong then lifted his face slowly from his hiding. His face was having a pinkish color on both of his smooth chubby cheeks that’s clear enough to be seen since his flawless milky complexion. He showed a shy gesture towards the older boy. He cutely waved his right hand slowly and merely said, “Hello hyung.”

For Yongguk, that’s more than enough to make him jumping in happiness. But being a cool boy he was, he hide his urge to jump and pinch those cute cheeks of the younger boy and smile warmly instead. He waved like the younger did and said, “Hello…”

And slowly, the shyness of the younger boy turned into a big grin on his face that flashed for the older boy in front of him.
