She heard a soft whisper. It was just a voice in her head. She gulped uneasily. She was hearing more voices now, images rushed into her mind: A face mingled with the face of the beast she had seen in the forest. The sound of footsteps, soft and almost soundless, heavy panting and ginger growls filled her ears.

Her chest started heaving. It was like she was looking through someone else’s eyes. Not someone, something. The trees passing by in a blur, darkness falling and making her feel safe and secure, the moon in the sky, silvery full moon shining oh so brightly. The smell of earth and dead leaves, sweat and something musky … a metallic smell, heavy and nauseating, the smell of blood.
