On The Sea
Warning: Grammar-mistakes ahead

Kyungsoo sighed for the unknown time as he looked out of the window by his side. Rain was splattering on the windowpanes outside, creating a loud noise that barely could deafen the forever sound of people speaking at once. The ship was rocking from side to side every time a hard wave crashed up against its sides, making people stumble around and silverware fall to the ground.

It wasn't enough that he was feeling rather seasick, his girlfriend also had to nag him about a shirt he didn't buy her when they were in New York. When his girlfriend, Hyumin, had spotted that shirt, he had immediately taken a few steps back since he already, at that time, knew she would want him to spend his money on it. It had annoyed him since he knew, that Hyumin knew, he didn't have that kind for money for a shirt with a famous name onto it. After that incident, she had been ignoring him the most of the day until they had left New York behind.

Right now, Kyungsoo was resting his cheek against the palm of his hand as he glared outside - the sound of his girlfriends voice slowly disappearing.

The cafeteria was filled with people who walked around with trays in their hands. Children were running around and in between the many red-padded chairs and round tables made out of expensive mahogany. The walls were clad with white wallpapers and the floor beneath his feet were made of dark tree, that almost shone so bright, that he could see is own reflection staring back.

Ignoring every human being around him, he slowly looked around and studied each family in the huge room. A family of five were sitting around a table, the mother obviously frustrated with her kids who were complaining about the lack of soda on the plate their father just had brought back. Even the father looked like one who was about to give up. His glasses on the edge of his nose was about to fall off as he ran a hand through his grizzled hair.

Once again Kyungsoo sighed, until his eye met a pair of dark eyes that looked directly into his. Slowly he let his hand fall down as he continued to stare back at the stranger, who didn't even bother to look away even though he knew he had been caught staring. The stranger was rather handsome. He had nice dark skin as if he just had returned from a holiday in the South, his eyes were dark and deep, so deep that you could almost drown in them. His hair was dark and tousled, probably from having his hands run through it every now and then. He was wearing a simple white dress shirt as well as a shirt blazer that was button at the front, a watch has hanging around his wrist as well as an almost matching silver ring around his fingers. A smirk was present on the strangers lips as he looked at Kyungsoo, obviously content with the situation.

Kyungsoo slowly opened his mouth as if he wanted to talk to the stranger, when a hand landed on his shoulder and pushed him a couple of times.

"Yah, Kyungsoo! Are you even listening?" Hyumin asked and looked at him with blaming eyes as if he just had spoken curses that only appeared in actions movies.

"Yeah, I am," Kyungsoo said and quickly looked at her before his eyes once again wandered towards the table where he had seen the stranger. He was gone. The table was now empty as if no one had been sitting there just a mere second ago. He felt his mouth open and close itself, dumbfounded. The stranger, whom he had just been staring at was now gone as if he never had existed. Was Kyungsoo's mind playing a trick on himself or was he just going crazy from hearing Hyumin whine beside him?

His thoughts were running as he looked around - eyes wandering after the stranger, who he for unknown reason couldn't get out of his mind. His face. His lips. His eyes. Everything was imprinted on his eyeballs as he looked at every face in the cafeteria, but after a while he gave up. Disappointment was the emotion that covered his face as he slowly turned his attention towards his mother- and father-in-law who now had decided to make him a part of their conversation, but even though he tried his best to concentrate on the words that were spoken to him, he couldn't forget about that face.

.......

They stayed at the cafeteria for hours. There was nothing he rather wanted than to return to his room. He wanted to lay on his bed with the duvet over his head so he could pretend he was walking on steady land again instead of sitting on a chair that felt like it was going to throw him off any second. His hands was folded in his lap as he tried his best not to gag on the smell of his father-in-law's cigar nor the smell of whisky that was emitting  from his breath. His girlfriend beside him wasn't any better, she was rocking back and forth in her chair as she laughed out loud, a hand grabbing his thigh every now and then as she smirked towards him.

He couldn't help but feel a bit of disgust. He knew what her intentions were, and right now he wasn't in the mood for anything. His eyes traveled across her pale skin and black hair, here eyes were unfocused and some of her lipgloss had missed her lips as well as the mascara on her eyes. Suddenly, she wasn't so attractive to him as she used to be.

"Excuse me," he mumbled, more to himself than to the people, whom he suddenly felt bitter around. He stood up, ignoring the hand that grabbed his wrist as he shook his own hand towards himself and walked away. He hear Hyumin call his name, but kept walking away.

He walked down the white painted halls, a hand on the wall to make sure that he wouldn't fall head first every time the ship decided to tip a bit to the side. The long hall was empty, only the lamps that hung on the wall was . Behind the many doors he could easily hear peoples escapedes, a woman was loudly somewhere, while behind another door, a couple was fighting over something unknown to him.

As he came closer to his door he stuck his hands into his pockets where he pulled out an enrtance card and let himself inside the dark room. His room wasn't big, it was only consisting of a bed, a closet and a table where all of his many papers were lying on display for anybody who entered to see. He quickly removed his jakcet and threw it on the bed before he sat down with his forehead resting against his hands. A loud sigh escaped his lips as he was about to lie down if it wasn't for the sudden knocking on his door.

Once again he felt annoyance come over him as he pushed himself and dragged himself towards the door.

"Who is it?" He asked and placed both of his small hands against the door, leaning closer to listen.

"I think you dropped something," was the answer.

Kyungsoo looked back towards the room. Had he really dropped something or was it just some kind of cruel joke? Slowly he grabbed the doorhandle and opened the door, only to gasp when he saw the stranger from the cafeteria stand before him. His eyes wandered from the chest of the stranger and up to his face - the stranger was taller than he had expected.

"Y-yes?" He asked and for the first time he couldn't keep the eyecontact that didn't seem to bother the stranger.

The stranger wore a smirk on his lips as Kyungsoo saw the mans hand dissapear into the pocket of his blazer, only to return with a small white card. Automatically, Kyungsoo grabbed his own pockets only to find the one, where he should have left his entrance card in, to be empty. A bit dumbfound, he tried to form words, only to realize that nothing escpaed his mouth - what was he going to say anyway?

"I guess, this belong to you," the stranger said with his deep voice and reached the card out towards him. With a shaking hand, Kyungsoo grabbed it and put it back into his pocket.

"Thanks," he said, this time looking into the eyes of the stranger. He found himself drowing in them as if they were the depth of the sea where every mystery of the world excisted, where every unsolved puzzled laid. He felt curious. Who was this stranger who were travelling al by himself?

"Have a nice evening," the stranger suddenly said and brought him out of his thoughts. Kyungsoo couldn't help but stare after the man, who now was walking down the hall. He bit his lip, his heart was beating fast and a feeling of dissatisfaction was appearing in his mind as he stared at the black-cladded back. The thought of never seeing this stranger again made a feeling of panic appear inside of him, he wanted to talk and get to know the man, but his thoughts were keeping him from saying anything. What was he even thinking anyway... It wasn't normal to suddenly call out strangers you only had seen and spoken to once. The feelings that had appeared inside of him, the feelings that were slowly driving him mad, was only his immagination mocking him. Dissatisfaction was now replaced with sadness.

How stupid, he thought and slowly took a step back to close the door when a voice suddenly hit him: "My name is Jongin, Kim Jongin, by the way".

Kyungsoo looked up, only to see the stranger standing at the end of the hall with both of his hands shoved into the pockets of his trouses. The smirk Kyungsoo just had witnessed a few seconds ago was now back on the strangers face as he once again looked Kyungsoo directly in the eyes.

"Kyungsoo... Do Kyungsoo," He answered and felt a smile appear on his lips as he slowly, now more pleased, closed the door. He hands rested against the door, the smile still resting on his lips as he stumbled back a bit. His hands ran though his own hair as he laid down onto the bed once again. He could feel his heart beat fast in his chest, he now felt excited and not annoyed by the people upstairs. Now, he actually looked forward to leaving his room and return to the cafeteria.

With another satisfied sigh he grabbed the duvet and curled himself into a ball. He closed his eyes for what felt like a couple of minutes, until he felt sleep take over as he was dragged into a world filled with dreams and nightmares now and then. He had expected an peaceful night of rest, but he was quickly awakened when he felt somebody move around beside him. He had barely opened his eyes, when he suddenly felt a pair of lips crashing against his, feeling his teeth getting slammed together with another set of teeth. The kiss was messy and far from satisfying. He felt his hands move up against a pair of thin shoulders as he pushed the person on top of him away. He sat up in one go, when he heard the person whine on the floor and recognized the voice of Hyumin.

Light was and for the hundredth time that day, he felt disappointment overwhelm him. The sight of his girlfriend, lying on the floor in her pajamas, half drunk and one the verge of crying, was pathetic to him.

"What are you doing?" Kyungsoo asked and swung his legs over the edge of the bed. He elbows rested against his knees as he looked at the girl before him.

"K-kyungsoo~" she half sang and whimpered as she started to crawl towards him. Her shaking hand was reached towards one of his knees before she grabbed it and tried to pull herself up and closer to him. He quickly moved away and straightened up his back as he could take a distance to her. "Why are you so absent-minded all the time?"

Kyungsoo didn't answer, but kept moving away from the girl. Her hands was creeping up towards his inner thigh, hands awfully near his crotch, making him tighten the muscles in his legs. He could feel himself slowly giving in, the feeling of her hands on his thighs were almost too much, but when he suddenly heard the sound of the zipper being pulled down, he jumped up and pushed the girl away from him. Without give her one glance, he trotted towards the door and left the crying girl in his room.

On the way out he had grabbed his jacket and was now swinging it over his shoulders. He greeted the people and ship crew he met on his way towards the deck. He needed air, cold fresh air. The sight and smell of his girlfriend had given him an awful headache that made him want to vomit just at the mere thought of her lying on the floor in his room. With his hands in his pockets, he pushed the exit door open with his shoulder and immediately felt the cold rain hit his warm face. The wind was pulling at his clothes as he walked down the side of the ships beside the rail, his hair was a mess and drops of rain was running down his face. The sky above his head had turned black a long time ago, only the moon and the stars were visible. It had been so long since he last had seen the stars. He lived in Seoul, where there were so much light at night that he never god a chance to see them as clear as tonight.

After he had walked quite a while he found himself a chair and sat down, both of his legs dragged up towards his chest as he tried to keep himself warm. His jacket was thin and didn't shield him from the wind. Right now, he wished he had brought his scarf and maybe a pair of gloves to cover his already blue fingers.

He didn't know for how long he was sitting there in the rain. He was lost in his own thoughts about the future and what he was going to do when he returned home. Normally he used to adore his girlfriend, but right now he couldn't stand the sight of her, but what if it just was a phase? Every couple ran into some kind of trouble during their relationship, it was normal. Maybe he should just learn to accept his girlfriends odd behavior and try to make the best of it.

He was pulled out of his stream of thoughts, when rain suddenly stopped hitting his cold body. He quickly looked up to see a tall figure stand beside him, carrying an umbrella that shielded the both of them from the splattering rain.

"Isn't it the wrong kind of weather to be outside in?" The man asked and looked down at Kyungsoo. Kyungsoo immediately felt a wave of calmness tumble over him as he recognized the voice and face of the stranger, Kim Jongin.

"I like the rain," Kyungsoo said and slowly unfolded his legs. His knees were hurting from sitting in the same position for too long, his limbs were cold and creaked as he stretched them out. "It's comforting".

Jongin didn't look convinced and reached a hand out towards him. Without a hint of hesitation, Kyungsoo grabbed it and let himself be pulled up. His own hands clung to the front of the jacket as they walked towards the wind close up against each other. Kyungsoo was pretty sure that he would have stumbled backwards if it wasn't for the arm that rested around his shoulders.

They both reached one of the many doors fast and found themselves in a large, bowl shaped room where a few people were sitting and enjoying a cup of coffee or something stronger. Low music was playing from the speakers on the walls and some of the waiters were walking around with plates in their hands to serve the rich people who did absolutely everything to make their trip more pleasant.

Jongin quickly removed his own jacket and swung it over his arm before he turned towards Kyungsoo to remove his as well. Kyungsoo felt his heart skip a beat as the jacket was removed from his arms, the clinging feeling that had been on his arms a few seconds ago was now gone and the quickly moved he shoulders in circles. He turned around to grab his jacket but noticed that Jongin was already walking towards one of the glass doors that led down to the hallways, where people were now sleeping in their rooms.  Kyungsoo quickly took a deep breath before he followed the taler man.

They walked in silence towards an unknown place. Kyungsoo didn't recognize the hall their were walking in, even though it was quite similar to the one he had just walked in minutes ago. When Jongin suddenly stopped in front of one of the many doors and pulled out a white card, Kyungsoo realized where they had been heading towards to. Right now, they were standing outside Jongins room. Once again Kyungsoo felt his heart beating faster, why, he didn't know, but his feelings were definitely a mess.

"I'll find us some towels," Jongin said as they entered the room. Compared to Kyungsoo's room this one was huge. A bed was standing up against one of the dark walls, a closet made of mahogany was standing beside a matching desk. Pictures hung on the walls and plants had been pushed into some of the corners of the room. A colorful rug was placed in the middle of the room were a small table was standing, filled with keys and different kinds of books and papers.

It didn't take long for Jongin to appear with two huge and fluffy towels, which he quickly placed on the bed. Before Kyungsoo knew of it Jongin was moving his wet clothes and in one go, Kyungsoo turned around on his heels so his back was now facing Jongin.

"Sorry if that made you uncomfortable," Jongin's voice suddenly sounded. "I'm not fond of wet clothes, especially not when it is cold at the same time".

"That 's understandable," Kyungsoo answered and swallowed the lump that had gathered itself in his throat. "It's probably also the easiest thing to do if you don't want to get sick".

There came no answer, only the sound of rustling fabric.

It didn't take long before one of the towels suddenly hit the back af his head, the soft fabric covering his face. He slowly grabbed it and started to dry his hair in an attempt to make it stop dripping water. He then turned around to see Jongin now wearing a red sweater and carrying another set of clothes in his hands, which he quickly showed Kyungsoo.

"Wear these," He said and placed the clothes on the bed. "You won't catch a cold then and since you were sitting out in the rain, I guess there was something keeping you from returning to your own room".

Kyungsoo eyed the mad beside him, who now were smirking down at him. How could he have known? Was it that obvious, Kyungsso thought and watched Jongin leave his side to enter, what he presumed, was the bathroom. When he had made sure that Jongin wouldn't return for while, he quickly removed his shirt and pants and putted on the clothes Jongin had placed on the bed. A heavy sigh escaped him as he felt his body now getting warm, he hadn't realized how cold he had been before. Right now, he just wanted to cover himself with the duvet before him an stay in bad for God knows how long. The clothes he wore was too big for him, the sleeves of the shirt was hanging around his hands and the pants hung loose around his hips as well as around his ankles.

"May I enter?" Jongin asked from the bathroom, obviously waiting for Kyungsoo to change.

"Yes," Kyungsoo said and floded his hands, slowly looking around with no idea about what to do. For the first time he felt rather awkward, he had no idea about what he should do nor did he know what he was allowed to do. Could he sit on the bed or should he sit on the couch? He was a stranger after all, maybe it would be weird if he stayed too long.

Jongin eyed him for a second, clearly seeing that the clothes he had found was way too big for the small man.

"I don't want to intrude," Jongin suddenly said and placed himself in one of the chairs at the other side of the room. Kyungsoo was still standing with his hands folded, eyes flickering around in and attempt to see through the man whom he had been watching in the cafeteria. He felt a blush appear on his cheeks when he noticed Jongins eyes on him once again, the dark eyes were studying him, before Jongin nodded towards the bed and Kyungsoo sat down immediately. "Why were you sitting out there, in the rain?"

Kyungsoo fiddled with his hands and looked down at his lab. Why were he acting like this? Why were he acting like some kind of High School girl who was crushing on a college student? When he was around Hyumin he acted so differently compared to now. When he was with Hyumin he was the one to keep an eye on here, he was the one to hold her hand so she wouldn't walk out in front of a car when she had her face buried in her phone.

"I didn't like my room," He answered and finally looked up at Jongin. "It's placed in the wrong hall. There are too many.... people."

The last word came out as a sigh, but as his eyes got caught by Jongins he understood that the man before him understood what he meant.

"Sometimes people can be a burden," Jongin said and rested his chin against the palm of his hand. "Sometimes we need to let go of the people we normally care about to be able to care about ourselves".

Kyungsoo nodded. Once again he felt himself thinking about the future. He still had two days to spend on the ship, which meant two days with Hyumin and her family. He couldn't just pretend she didn't exist, she was the one who had brought him with her onto this ship and she was the one who wanted him to join her and her family on this holiday.

Kyungsoo couldn't help but laugh when his thoughts suddenly drifted towards his mother who was waiting at home. When he had told her about the trip she had protested, she had told him not to go with that girl, because she didn't trust her, that she wasn't right for Kyungsoo. Maybe his mother had been right all this time, maybe Hyumin wasn't the right for him, maybe it was time to let go.

"I know this might be a rather straightforward comment, but if you don't want to stay in that room before of a certain person, then you can feel free to stay here," Jongin said and stood up from the chair.

No, no it's not a straightforward comment, Kyungsoo thought and looked at them walking towards him. He wanted to stay. He didn't want to go back.

"I would like that," Kyungsoo said and moved backwards to set properly on the bed. Jongin stopped before him, now with a smile on his lips, before he reached towards the blanket that was covering the bed and carefully removed it to reveal a thick duvet and two white pillows.

"I will take the couch then," Jongin said and grabbed one of the pillows and was about to walk towards the couch if it wasn't for Kyungsoo grabbing his elbow. The taller turned around and looked down at him with a puzzled look on his face.

"I don't mind sharing," Kyungsoo said, suddenly a bit shy. He was used to sharing a bed with people. When he was younger his brother, Seungsoo, and him would normally share a bed and when he got older, and he met Hyumin, he shared his bed with her. Even though they all had been people whom he had had a close relationship to, he didn't't mind sharing the bed with this "stranger".

Jongin looked at him for a while, before he threw the pillow back at the bed and crawled under the duvet. Kyungsoo quickly followed the action and covered himself as well. They stared at each other for a while, none of them saying anything, only listening to the sound of waves outside. The light was dimmed and everything around them had an orange glow, making the situation warm and comfortable.

Kyungsoo carefully let out a sigh and closed his eyes. Warmth was the only thing he felt, especially when he felt Jongin moving closer to him, their legs suddenly intertwined and arms around each other. He felt safe and quite happy at the same time. It wasn't like those times where he had shared a bed with Hyumin, it had always been a mess of wandering hands and him making sounds of annoyance every time he had had to push the girl away. With Jongin it was different, there was no inappropriate touching nor cold, empty distance - he was just comfortable, and still.... guilt was the only thing he felt as he responded to the closeness beside him.
