One Summer's Day

Description

Time flows without pause.

Foreword

The twinkling of the sun's rays against the water made her chest emulate the feeling; her chest was bubbling with excitement as the warmth embraced her. Her eye lids fluttered down as she wanted to relish the moment- she wanted to remember the light touch of the sun on her skin, the warm breeze wisping about, the sound of the tall grass brushing against each other. All of the little things, she knew it didn't mean much but, she wanted to engrain it all in her memory. She slowly opened her eyes, allowing them to gradually adjust to the brightness, to take in the beauty of the azure sky embellished with clusters of fluffy, white clouds. A small smile stretched her lips as her eyes drifted back down to the dazzling water.

"Summer's here." she declared.

There was no one with her but she felt the need to say it aloud, to let her reality sink in. She knew the day would come and she knew she would be alone. However, she never realized the magnitude of the feeling.
