First Nightmare
That Night With A StrangerChapter 4: The First Nightmare
Another entire week has passed and her courage
of contacting Jessica again has dissipated together
with the last text she sent her a week ago.
The text that confirmed how much hate Jessica
still has for her. She understood why Jessica felt it.
Heck, if she was in her place, she’d probably hate
herself too. But, the situation is just so unfair.
She has no choice whatsoever.
Well..maybe there really is, but still, everything is for the better.
“Architect Kim Taeyeon?” her client’s voice brought her mind
back from drifting off.
“Oh yes Ms. Juhyun. I’m sorry. What can I do for you today?”
she stood up from her swivel chair and welcomed the
presence of her client.
“No need to be sorry. I just got here anyway.”
Ms. Juhyun smiled brightly at the bashful new architect.
“Well, that’s good then. Please take a seat.”
She offered the seat opposite her desk.
“Thank you. Architect Kim, how’s the project going?
How’s everything?”
The client was referring to the pool resort she contracted Taeyeon with.
“Everything is doing great Ms. Juhyun. In fact, I think the
construction will be finished by the end of next month.
The design is coming off really identical as that of the
blue print I showed you.”
“Wow you’re a real good for a new architect huh.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you became really successful soon.”
“Well, thank you for that Ms. Juhyun. Also thank you for choosing me,
even though I’m just a newbie, as your architect.
I really appreciate you giving me a shot at this project.”
“It’s a pleasure dear. Who wouldn’t want an architect fresh
from the top 10 of the licensure exam anyway, right?”
Ms. Juhyun chuckled, making Taeyeon feel much more
comfortable than ever.
“Haha yeah. People definitely wants that.”
After catching up with her client, Taeyeon then decided to
get off work, giving an excuse to her boss of a construction
site visitation. Reaching home, Taeyeon was greeted with a
parked red Ferrari and a black Porsche.
And of course, she readily recognized the owners of such
expensive cars, the people whom she was just recently
openly acknowledged as their blood relative, her long lost
father and twin sibling. Yes, she has a twin apparently.
Growing up, she thought that she’s the only child, and
fatherless after a car accident that tragically happened
just after she was born.
At least that was what her mom told her.
And that story kept on repeating and repeating just
until the day before her mother died, just 8 months ago.
With tears falling and heavy breathing, her mother told
her everything; that her father did not actually die but is
still alive and living by the family name of Ok, that her
mother just left him because of the oppression she felt
because of her father’s parents, that her father did not
do anything wrong, that their family name became Kim
because her mom decided to use her maiden name
again to avoid getting attention of being an Ok,
the Ok family is quite something of a bloodline apparently,
that the truth was hidden from her because of the guilt,
hurt, and shame that her mother felt all this time, and that
she has a sibling. No specifics really.
So she had to do some research and finally it led to the
two people whom are now comfortably sitting down
on her couch in her humble home.
Putting down her bag and car keys on the table, she went
straight to the living room where her family is waiting for her.
“Hi everyone! You’re here!” she greeted them with a big smile.
She’s really glad to see them again.
Her father cleared his throat, warning Taeyeon of the wrongful
thing she just did.
“Oh right I’m sorry. Mm, so how have you been...father, brother?”
Taeyeon a little bit of stammered while thinking of how to formally
greet the people in front. She wasn’t really raised strictly to
follow formality. She was care-free. She was given freedom.
The whole etiquette of the rich people doesn’t really suit her taste.
“This is a small house. You should live in a bigger house.”
Mr. Ok told Taeyeon directly. He must’ve felt quite uncomfortable
just being inside Taeyeon’s small home.
“Huh? Uhm Father, I thought this house is just enough for me.
I think I don’t need anything bigger.” she responded immediately.
“Sis, I think you should think about it first. This place is quite small, really.”
Her cool twin honestly told her. Well, what do you expect really from a
