“Dubu-yah! Wake up!!  Wake up!!” I felt someone shaking me as I was sleeping peacefully at my bed “Dubu-yah, come on it’s my birthday and you promised me that you’ll come with me on the fair today come on Dahyun-ssi, come on come on come on” I opened my eyes carefully and saw a bunny trying to wake me up

“You told me that you’ll come with me” she sat down and pouted I stood up and looked at the desk calendar beside me it was Thursday, 22th of September Fall I brushed my eyes and looked at the pouting girl in front of me she’s getting older but her face never fails to be cute and make me smile

She shrugged her shoulders looking mad at me but instead I let out a smile and pulled her closer to me “Happy Birthday NaYeon Unnie!! You’re getting old” I said as I hug her and I felt a weak hit on my head “Idiot, I’m still young” she argued “Okay, okay I’m sorry just wait for me okay? I’ll take a bath and we’ll go to the fair” she let go of my and laid in my bed

It’s her birthday today.. I can’t believe it’s been 3 years since I met her I was 18 years old that time and yeah, I met her also in the fair.. it was a cold night that day I decided to go to the fair to make myself happy my father is a successful business man and my mother died a long time ago.

I went there to amuse myself, I had no one to look for me I do have someone in my house who’re looking for me but I just want to do things alone I first rode the roller coaster I tried to scream everything I had inside me, anger, pain, and depression it was sure fun screaming all your problems out there

And then the second one that I rode was the Vikings, the ship that goes up in the air it was a high one but still I controlled myself and rode that thing and that’s when I met her.. I could remember it just like it was yesterday, I sat near the back so no one can hear my anger but then this girl approached me she also had this chubby face and her teeth were too cute.

She was wearing a blue varsity jacket and jeans it was hella simple but it looks good on her, she’s also wearing some kind of Minnie mouse head band that can be purchased also in the fair “Uhm, excuse me can I sit here?” she asked me with those cute toothy smile of hers “Y-yes, yes you may” and I knew from that moment I fell head over heels for her.

She sat beside me and the operator set the bars so that we could be safe and that.. that made her closer to me.. a felt my heart skip a beat when she looked at me while we were so close to each other

I know I won’t ever see her again that time because she’s just a stranger but the moment just felt so right that time so I smiled back, she was something…. She’s confident

We were holding on the bars and the ship and the ship started to move it was embarrassing when it moved because I didn’t realized that my other hand was on her shoulder, as soon as I realize I removed it from her shoulder and it seems like she didn’t mind

The ship went higher and higher everyone was screaming and the girl beside me was also screaming but she’s screaming about happiness and I was the opposite

“I MISS YOU APPA, I MISS YOU…..” I screamed those words because I knew that no one will be able to hear me that time because they’re also busy screaming and it was too loud but then when we had our hands up I felt another hand intertwined with mine

I stopped for a moment and looked at the girl beside me she had her eyes closed and screaming I can’t hear her, it was too loud I know we’re about to fall but I can’t feel anything because I knew in that time someone already caught me

The ride ended and the ship was stopping slowly our hands were still intertwined together “Let’s go again! Let’s go again! Let’s go again!!” she screamed I looked at her and flashed a smile.. she’s really something.. when the ship stopped she looked at our hands and looked at me it feels like my world had stopped moving and were the only one moving that time I thought that moment would last forever but I was wrong…

I was wrong because we got interrupted by the operator and she quickly let go of our hands we made the exit and nobody was talking and it there it ended.. in that moment I knew that I won’t ever get to see her again..

It’s almost three weeks since I went to the fair, I forgot everything even that girl but I won’t forget the warmth of her hand.. the feeling of her hand intertwined with mine… 

I just got out of school and there’s this new café build in front in our school I was a fourth year student that time I ordered a Caramel Macchiato and went to a seat in front of it there’s this familiar girl.. she was busy reading her notes but I can totally feel something my heart was pounding

It’s her.. the world again starts to slow down as I was looking at her.. I looked down and blinked a few times I didn’t speak or anything I just tried to play It cool I secretly took some glance on her I remembered how her hair flew that time on the Vikings it’s suppose to be funny but she looked really beautiful that time but it seems like she can be more

She’s wearing a long sleeved and a skirt her hair was straight just like the first time I saw her, I continued to stare at her that time

She looked up and it looks like she was familiar to the song that was being played in the café as the music was being played I can see that she lost her smile

The lyrics goes.. I continued to look at her I can see that she was trying hard to breathe, she closed her notebook, placed it to her back and grabbed her bag and went outside, I don’t know what to do that time I want to follow her because I felt something that she was struggling or something.

I stood up and went outside I looked everywhere for her and I saw her climbing up in the overpass I tried to follow her and she was wiping her tears while walking I followed her silently and It happened she fell down.. she was still crying and I ran immediately to her

“Miss are you okay?!” I asked as I helped her to stand up “Yes, I’m fine I’m sorry for troubling you” she replied as I helped her to stood up there again.. I held her hand and I felt the warm “No, you’re not okay” I said seriously she was looking down still crying I was about to ask her where she live so I can send her there but before I can speak

She already pulled me for a hug… “Can we please stay liked this? I-I just need someone to hug” I was speechless Icouldn’t speak at the moment I don’t know what to say “O-okay” after a few minutes we stayed like that in the middle of the over pass.

She raised her head and wiped her tears “I-I’m sorry” she said “It’s okay” she turned her back and started walking I ran to her and pulled her “Miss, where do you live? I might need to walk you home” I offered as I give her a smile “N-no, I-I can do this thank you for your help” she replied “but it seems like the situation was different” I said “No, thankyou I can do this…” I didn’t let her finish and cut her out “Please, I insist.”

She had no choice but to take me with her it was silent but I decided to break the ice “Uhm, I know it’s none of my business but why were you crying miss?” I asked nicely “No, no it’s nothing” she replied shyly “you wouldn’t cry if nothing happened” I smiled and she looked at me

“you can tell me anything” I know it’s strange that I’m asking her the reason why she cried and when we don’t even know each other yet funny if you’ll look at I but the way she cry earlier she just seemed so fragile “you may not know me but you can trust me” I flashed another smile, she was looking at me that time suspiciously

“Just trust me…”

“It… it’s because of my boyfriend well now ex we’re dating for 6 months and I found out that he’s cheating on me”  oh right another typical love problem “is that song has a value to you?” I asked “Huh? What do you mean?” she asked “18” I replied

She stopped for a second and replied “Yeah, he used to sing that song for me when he asked me on the very first time” she said and smiled bitterly “Hey, don’t be sad I know you still love him but the world is huge there’s a lot of people out there, who can also make you smile pain is just temporary but happiness is permanent”

I said as we were walking “It’s just six months you’re still young you can still explore and let’s just say that heart break is just another experience” I continued “My name is Kim Dahyun” I said as I offered her my hand “you know what you’re right he’s just another experience and I must be happy because he happened to me he gave me happiness even though he gave me pain this time”

“Im Nayeon”  she said as she shook our hands we walked together, she was talking about that guy

"You know what? i think he's an idiot for leaving a nice lady like you" i said gaining a smile from her I also found out that’s she’s older than me but then I asked her something

“Unnie, perhaps..” I scratched the back of my head as I spoke “Perhaps you remember me?” I asked and again she looked at me “That.. That night at the fair in the Vikings September 22^nd evening” I said she studied my face and her eyes got bigger

“WHAT? It’s you? it’s really you?” she laughed and I nodded “I can’t believe I didn’t noticed” we continued to talk to each other and the best part is I made her laugh she even caught a nickname for me “Dubu”

We chatted until we arrived at her house “So I guess I’ll be seeing you sometimes Dahyun-ah?” she said as she opened the gates of their house “See you soon Im Nayeon” I said while looking at her walk to their house before she closed the door she waved at me..

Present time

I took out my car and we both went to the fair it was 5:30 that time, while we were on my car she blasted One Direction’s “Perfect” song with the windows down “Dubu, look it’s beautiful” she said looking at the city lights but I didn’t look at them though because I was looking at her her hair was flowing through the wind she was smiling like an innocent child looking at the city lights

“You’re right” I replied looking at her when we arrived at the Fair she didn’t lose a chance, she immediately pulled me for the rides roller coaster, gyro drop we even rode the little choo-choo train for the little kids it was fun at this moment I know that I’m having fun we bought some couple stuffs and of course Polaroid photo’s and photo’s at the photo booth

We took a break and ate food I bought some corndogs and some popcorn we sat down on the bench she was holding my arm while I was holding our food I took out the corndogs and gave the other corndogs to her she ate like a little child making me smile

She took a bite and then she shared her corndogs with me, she let me took a bite of it.. it was natural Unnie was a bit clingy to me and to everyone… we continued to eat sitting at the bench but then a very familiar song was played

I quickly looked at her she turned quiet and looked down “Hey, Unnie? You okay?” I asked she looked at me and smiled “Of course, that’s a long long long time ago Dahyun-ah” she stood up energetically with her same smile.. those smile that never got old to me “Come on, Dubu-yah let’s ride the Ferris wheel that’s the only ride that we didn’t took” I finished the food and followed her

“Come on, Come on, let’s go I saw earlier that there’s going to be fireworks today” she said like a child while pulling me “I’m coming I’m coming no need to be cute. Hey, you’re getting older aren’t you tired of being cute?” because me? I never got tired of you “Nahh, come on” she pulled me where the Ferris wheel were

There are people but not that much just like the other rides so we got a chance to get into a cart quickly “We’re going up unnie!! We’re going up” I said excitedly this time I was the childish one “Yeah, Hey do you have some pen there?” she asked I gave a blank expression and asked her why? “Do you remember Boys over flowers? Do you remember when Go JunPyo and Geum Jan Di wrote something in the cart in Namsan? Maybe we could do that too.” she said aish cute child “I do have but this one is for emergency” I said “Nah, no emergency lemme get that” she said reaching for her bag

She leaned down and wrote something on the edge of the cart

“DaYeon was here 9/22/16”

She wrote those words while we were going up “Dubu look!! We’re on the top!!” she said excitedly I first look at her and looked at the city that was being light up by the city lights “It’ Beautiful” I replied she was looking at it and again I looked at her “Just like you..” I continued

She looked back at me and laughed “Kim Dahyun what are you saying?” she said and smirked

“Im NaYeon I know that you’re gonna hear the most ridiculous thing In this world, but I don’t care because I’m proud of it I’m proud of this ridiculousness thing called love I’m proud that I’m Inlove with you, I’m proud because of all the million people in this world I met you” she looked at me like she was lost… like we’re lost on our own world

“it seems funny but when the first time I saw you on that right I just knew.. I just knew that I fell for you I was 18 that time I don’t know what to do I was scared.. scared that you might ignore me or reject me and it will ruin our friendship but this time i’m hoping that you’ll  believe in me..”

Her tears were falling I was afraid that she’ll refuse or something I touched her face and wiped the tears out “Hey hey I’m sorry look at me” I said she looked at me and smiled

“You, idiot! You don’t know how long I’ve waited for this moment” she said and I quickly hugged her we were both lost in the moment, we were both lost in each other’s eyes I was slowly leaning to her I closed my eyes and let the moment capture us together

And there… I felt her warm lips on mine it was full of sincerity and it was solemn we broke the kiss when we heard fireworks explosion outside while we were on our cart

Her hands were on my waist and my hands were on her shoulders when we got down I sang a line from One Directions 18, I was still holding her we were walking on the parking lot

“I have loved you since I was 18… long before we both though the same thing.. to be loved and to be inlove all I can do is say that these arms are made for holding you…”

She smiled at me and spoke

“So i think it’s the start of something new Kim DaHyun?”

“Yes, yes it is Im NaYeon I wanna love like how you made me feel, when I was 18…”
