The sky was gray, the air was cold and your mindset was dull. You were currently in second year of high school. Mr. Lee kept babbling on and on about whatever stupid english stuff he was talking about, but you couldn't listen. You were too busy eyeing the guy next to you, with his bright orange hair, his toned body that was noticed even through his clothes, his beautiful features and his breathtaking smile. All things that you could never call yours, even though you wanted to, more than anything else at that moment. He was your best friend, Park Jimin. You'd known him since ninth grade and quietly developed a crush on him. Unlike other girls who never seem to reveal their feelings however, you had decided that when the two of you entered high school together, you'd confess to him. You felt that you were brave enough. So in the middle of the first term of the first year, you were going to do it.... but you were too late. That morning he ended up telling you that he had had an eye on a girl in one of the second year classes and he was seeking support from you to confess to her. The both of you were so alike that you had planned a confession on the same exact day, but he had chosen another girl. This broke your heart in a way that was undescribable, but you managed to hide it through a stoneface while telling him that you'd support him in anything. But the first opportunity that came after that, you rushed to the bathroom, sobbing like there was no tomorrow. You decided that you wouldn't tell him your feelings anymore, sparing yourself the humiliation and not taking the risk of destroying your friendship.

A deep and sad sigh escaped your lips, your eyes still glued on the handsome young man next to you. Your feelings were still relevant. It hurt to see him dating another girl, but you enjoyed his company too much to give it up just because of some stupid feelings. To make things even worse, his girlfriend was a really cool and intelligent girl and she had attempted to befriend you a bunch of times, but you just felt too jealous and awkward to give in. You wished that she would have been a , because it would have given you a reason to hate her. If she caught Jimin's eye, she was perfect, so you envied her.

But suddenly, Mr. Lee raising his voice snapped you out of your thoughts. He was giving you a look, a slight glare, and you just looked back in confusion.

"Huh?" You questioned and heard a few students snickering.

"_____ ssi, answer the question please." Mr. Lee sarcastically smiled while raising his eyebrow. You could feel your cheeks heating up, embarrassment coming over you.

"I-I'm sorry, Mr. Lee soensaengnim. Could you repeat your question?" You stuttered, face flushed with red color. Mr. Lee sighed.

"_____ ssi, please pay attention to my class. I'm going to pass the question on, assuming that your mind has not been present enough during class to know the answer."

You tilted your head downwards, mentally scolding yourself for letting your crush on Jimin get the best of you for the hundredth time, while Mr. Lee passed the question on to some other girl in the front.

"Yah, _____-ah, are you okay?" Jimin brushed the back of his hand against your upper arm, grabbing your attention. You furrowed your eyebrows while turning your gaze to see his worried expression, eyes staring at you with concern.

"Ne. I'm just tired, I guess." You brushed it off, hiding the truth as usual. He narrowed his eyes at you before turning his attention back to the lecture and you attempted to do the same. Jimin wasn't stupid. He had no clue that you liked him, but he could tell that you were hiding something from him and he didn't like it. But every time he'd try to get it out of you, you'd just insist that you were fine. Even if he didn't have feelings for you, he still cared for you like you were his sister.

The bell finally rang, ending third period. You sighed while gathering your books and picking them up. There was one class left to go until you could finally go home and watch a movie or something. It was maths, so you weren't really looking forward to it, feeling a little more down than usual. But you knew that when you got through it, you'd be free to go home and cry all you wanted.

When you and Jimin entered the classroom the two of you took a seat near the back, as usual, next to each other. He started talking to you about this video game that was coming out and how much he looked forward to it, and it sounded awesome, but you just couldn't manage to cheer up.

"Yah, _____-ah. We're best friends, y' know that right?" He asked you, drastically changing the subject. You turned your head to him with a surprised expression. "You can tell me anything, it doesn't matter what it is!"

You sighed when you realized that your acting hadn't worked well and perked up the best you could.

"Of course I know that! Stop worrying so much." You gave him a somewhat fake smile. Even though you were glad he cared for you, it still hurt at the same time. A muffled groan was heard from him as he pursed his lips together, turning his attention to Mrs. Kim who just entered the classroom.

"Good afternoon, class. Today we actually have a new student joining this class." Mrs. Kim spoke as she placed some notebooks on her desk. She turned her head to the door and waved her hand in a 'come here' motion. "Come on."

In through the doorway came a tall, dark-haired young man. As he walked towards the teacher, he had a stoneface on, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking. When he'd made it to the teacher's desk, he quickly bowed but kept his stoneface solid.

"Annyeonghaseyo. I'm Jeon Jungkook." Was all he said and your eyes tried to scan him, unconsiously searching for any kinds of emotions.

"Ne. So please take care of your new classmate." Mrs. Kim continued and motioned for Jungkook to take his seat. The boy immediately made his way to a completely empty desk at the very back and nobody seemed to pay him too much attention, including yourself. He just had this aura around him, telling people that he didn't want anyone to approach him. He seemed like the type of guy that wouldn't cause too much trouble, and you were at least thankful for that. You felt that there were too many annoying people around you already. When Mrs. Kim started talking about something that had to do with algebra, Jimin poked your side.

"Hey, are you doing anything after school today?" He asked, a hopeful smile on his face. You felt a little giddy at the thought of hanging with him, even though you did it all the time already. Your feelings really wouldn't go anywhere, would they?

"No, nothing's planned." You returned the smile, genuinely this time.

"Great, because Hyeyoung and I are going to the mall and I was hoping you could join." He intentionally widened his smile, knowing that you felt a little uncomfortable around his girlfriend. But he wanted the two people that he cared about the most to get along, so he'd try his best. Your hope of getting to spend time alone with your secret love was crushed and you could feel your heartbeat returning to a normal pace.

"Oh.... I-I uh..."

"Please, _____-ah! I know you don't know her that well, but she really wants to befriend you! She's a cool person, you'll like her." He insisted and you averted your gaze. You wouldn't like her, because you already hated her. Envied her.

"Sh-she probably wouldn't want me to disturb your date though." You came up with an excuse, trying not to show your jealousy and disappointment.

"But it was her idea to invite you! Like I said; she wants to befriend you, _____."

You silently sighed and mentally slapped yourself.

"Okay, I guess I'll join." You tried to put a smile on your face. Your answer caused Jimin to grin widely and you could physically feel your heart melting at the sight.

.......1.......

You and Jimin were now on your way to the mall, to meet up with Hyeyoung. You couldn't help but feel huge reluctance in every step you took, not wanting to face the one person in the world that you'd do anything to switch places with. You didn't want to admit it to yourself, but you had fallen hard for Jimin and he was constantly on your mind.

"We're here." The boy next to you happily announced and your mind had been so far off in nervousness that you hadn't paid attention to where you were. You gulped. As the two of you walked through the doors of the mall, you were immediately met my a smiling Hyeyoung. She waved to the two of you, Jimin instantly waving back with the same amount of energy and you tried to copy him. Hyeyoung went up and hugged him, giving him a peck on the cheek and you could feel a huge lump in your throat at the sight. But what took you off-guard was that she quickly pulled away from Jimin and wrapped her arms around you instead. Your eyes widened and you couldn't think enough to return the action. She pulled away and held you by your shoulders, smiling at you.

"Annyeong, _____ ssi! I hope you're doing well! I'm so glad you decided to come. I know that it probably took some convincing and that's fine, because you're here, aren't you?" Her tone was so cheerful and you couldn't help but cringe, knowing that she was being genuine. You smiled back a convincing smile but you still just stood there awkwardly. She let go of you, taking a step away. Like Jimin, she wasn't stupid either. She could tell that you didn't feel comfortable with her.

"So, shall we grab some ice cream?" Jimin suggested, trying to avoid any awkwardness from appearing. Hyeyoung immediately nodded but raised her eyebrows towards you to ask your opinion. You nodded with a small smile and the three of you started making your way further into the big building.

.......2.......

A week later, you and Jimin were just sitting near the back as usual in physics class. It was last period and you were looking forward to catch the newest episode of a k-drama you had been following for the last few weeks. But something was odd: Jungkook wasn't in class. For the one week he'd been here, he'd been attending class just like anyone else, but he hadn't seemed to be making any friends, or even try to. He actually wasn't present during the class after lunchbreak either, but he was there this morning. It made you worry a little, considering that the teachers didn't know where he was either. But you felt like you weren't in the place to worry, so you tried to just shrug it off. There were ten minutes left of class when Jimin suddenly poked you like he ususally did.

"Are you doing anything today after school, _____-ah?" Jimin asked. You already knew that he'd planned something with Hyeyoung after school, and you'd rather not join, for obvious reasons.

"I've already got some stuff to do, but I might be free towards the evening." You said, hoping that his date may be over by then. He groaned, but believed your lie.

"Ahh, I'll call you if I'm free around seven, I guess."

He looked a little disappointed, but you didn't regret your decision.

When class ended, you and him seperated to walk to your own lockers and after putting all of your books in it and grabbing your backpack, you decided that you would go over to Jimin's locker to say 'goodbye'. But you quickly regretted it when you caught Hyeyoung kissing him there. You felt a painful lump in your stomach, your heart felt like it was being ripped apart and tears threatened to fall. Your gaze was practically glued to the horrifying sight before you felt like your heart couldn't take any more of the pain and you forced yourself to look away. Not risking him seeing you in that state, you did the first thing that came to your mind and ran to the stairs that led to the second floor, then third floor and then the rooftop. You swung the door open once you reached as high as possible, only to feel a strong wave of air hit your legs. It was quite windy on the roof and it made your tears fall diagonally down your soft cheeks, that were getting dryer from all the crying that you were doing recently. You started walking towards the bench that was up there, but on your way something caught your eye, and it made you stop dead in your tracks. The tears stopped falling, your body started shaking and your heart felt like it stopped beating as your eyes stared at the figure that was standing on the half wall which worked as a railing on the roof of the building, with their back turned against you.

"J-J-Jungkook?" You managed to whisper for yourself in complete horror when you realized it was him. His shoulders were shaking; he was probably crying. Panic started boiling in your veigns and your body tensed up.

When you finally regained control over your body you started running towards him, stopping in fear a few meters away.

"Jungkook?!" You yelled out and he slightly jumped, turning his head to you in a haste. You were right, he was indeed crying. You had never seen any emotion coming from him before, so it made you a little more shocked, if possible. "W-what are you doing up there?! A-are you alright?"" You asked, not knowing how to deal with the situation.

He only turned his head back to glance down at the ground.

"Y-you didn't attend third and fourth period, s-so..."

You were interrupted when you saw him taking another small step towards the edge and you panicked even more.

"Wait! W-what are you doing?!"

"Go away." His voice was pretty low, but loud enough for you to hear.

Your heartbeat was at an abnormal speed and your head started pounding. Was he actually going to.... jump?

"Jungkook, why are you up there?! Come on, I-I'll listen!"

He only shook his head weakly in response and was going to take another step forward.

"WAIT, STOP!" You shouted, instinctively getting closer, making him put his foot back. You took a few heavy breaths, trying to figure out what to do, what to say.

But something rushed through you; a feeling you had never felt before. You felt like you had to save this boy, no matter what... and that's what you were going to do.

"Listen, I don't know what you're going through, so I can't say that I understand, but please don't do this!" You proceeded to take another step towards him. "Everyone has times in their lives that are hard, some have it worse than others, but for the ones that hold on and stay strong, it always gets better. It sounds cliché, but it's true. Have you ever heard the saying: 'Everything will be okay in the end. If it is not okay, it is not the end.'? Well, it's true, Jungkook, so please hold on. This is not meant to be the end for you. You might not realize it now, but people will miss you if you're gone. When you weren't class, even I, who have never even spoken to you before, got worried over where you could be. Imagine the people who actually know you, even the ones who knew you once."

You were now only feet away from him.

"Please, Jungkook, don't make this mistake. You have your whole life ahead of you. Hold on, not for anyone else, but for yourself."

His lower lip began to shake a little, from trying to hold back tears.

"Who are you? Why are you doing this? Why would you care?" He tried his best to hide the shakiness in his voice.

"My name's _____. I'm doing this because I can and want to. And I care because I can't live with myself if I let such a young and handsome boy, that still has all of the opportunities in the world ahead of him, make the biggest mistake that anyone could ever make. If you come down from there I'll tell you more, okay? Then you can take your turn."

He slowly turned his head to face you, tears still falling, eyes red and puffy. You reached your hand out for him to take it but he turned away.

"I don't want this pathetic life anymore! I'm so sick of it!" His voice turned loud as he glanced down at the ground again.

Suddenly, you felt your blood starting to boil and your whole body turned hot in rage.

"Goddamnit, Jungkook, take my ing hand! You are not dying today! Not on my watch." You lashed out and he turned to you with a shocked expression. The anger came out of nowhere and you didn't understand it yourself. Your gazes locked and the two of you just stared at each other for a while. He looked away for a second before looking back to you, and finally his hand raised to reach for yours.  Realizing you had succeeded, you quickly reached further to grab his hand and you pulled him down, causing the two of you to fall and hit the hard material of the roof's flooring and you quickly wrapped your arms around him.

His sobbing quickly turned loud as his face pressed against your collarbones. You felt your shirt getting wet from tears but you didn't care and just gently his hair.

"Shh, it's okay. Everything's fine now."

After that, the two of you had just sat there, Jungkook sobbing in your arms with his own wrapped around your torso, for almost thirty minutes. But you didn't mind, because you kind of needed that time to get down from your shock while comforting him with your soft words. Although, you refused to let yourself cry since you didn't want him to see that his actions had affected you. It wouldn't have helped him to calm down.

But once his crying finally stilled, you decided to start walking him home. Neither of you said a single word to each other. You didn't know how to start a conversation comfortably and he was probably still in shock. He had refused to call his parents when you asked, so you just walked quietly by his side until he stopped in front of the gates to pretty large house.

"It's here." He looked at you for a second before he started fiddling with the keys to the gate's lock, which gave you enough time to realize that no cars were parked in the driveway, no lights were on in the house and the front yard and porch were completely empty, making it look like no one lived there. This had you wondering, and considering that the boy in front of you had just tried to commit suicide, you couldn't help but ask about it.

"Uh, is anyone else home?" Your voice was weak and filled with worry.

He stopped trying to unlock the gate and turned to glance at you before shaking his head.

"Oh." Your heart sank a little in your chest, realizing that he had no one that he could give a big bear hug to once he got inside the fancy house, since he probably really needed one. "W-when are your parents coming home?" You asked as he still hadn't managed to get the gates open.

"They're away doing work stuff. They may be back in a month." Yet again, his stoneface was back. Your heart started to ache at the situation he was in.

Jungkook started trying to unlock the gate again, but was interrupted by you grabbing his wrist and starting to walk towards your house.

"I guess you're sleeping at my place tonight." You smiled back at him and a surprised expression appeared on his face, making him look like a lost bunny. But he didn't respond and just let you drag him along.

Once at home, you unlocked the door and your mother was just passing the hallway when you walked in, Jungkook following closely behind you.

"Ah, you're home, dear. What took you so long to get ho-...... Oh, hello there. Who's this, _____?" Your mother gave you a surprised look upon seeing Jungkook walking in with you.

"Eomma, this is Jungkook. He's my new classmate." You awkwardly introduced him and he instantly bowed.

"Annyeonghaseyo. I'm Jeon Jungkook." He sounded identical to when he first introduced himself to the class a week earlier.

"Oh, hello. It's nice to see you're making friends, honey." Your mother smiled at you. Jungkook and you shot each other glances and you could tell that you were thinking the same thing. The two of you hadn't even had a proper conversation with each other yet. You were hardly friends, were you?

"Ne. And Jungkook can stay here for the night, right?" You smiled cutely at your mother and she looked a little surprised at the request.

"W-well I suppose that'll work if i-"

"Great! Thanks, mom!" You went forward and kissed your mother on her cheek. "Also, I'm quite hungry. What's for dinner?"

Your mother chuckled and smiled towards the cute boy that was cluelessly standing by the front door.

"Chicken and rice. I hope that'll do, sweetheart." She looked at Jungkook and you mentally face palmed at your mother's nickname for him. Jungkook just gulped and nodded. "Good. I'll make sure to cook well for that handsome face of yours." Your mother continued her way to the kitchen.

"S-sorry." Your cheeks were flushed in embarrassment but he just stared at you in disbelief.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." He looked away and removed his shoes, you proceeding to do the same.

The evening was going along pretty well and you made sure that the two of you weren't alone too much, since the atmosphere seemed to get awkward every time you were. Even though your mom embarrassed you like hell sometimes, you still kept her around to get rid of the tension, because she was really good at that. She always had so much to talk about, and during dinner, surprisingly, she managed to get some stuff out of Jungkook. Apparently he liked composing music, singing and dancing; things you would never have guessed on your own, although you had to pretend like you knew all of that already. But like all mothers and daughters, the two of you ended up bickering about small things, which without your knowledge had made Jungkook smile and even chuckle a little, since he wasn't used to such a sight in his own home.

When the three of you were all done eating, your mom started picking up the dishes from around the table and you quickly stood up to help her.

"Thank you for the meal, Mrs. Choi." Jungkook politely bowed when your mother took away his empty plate.

"Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it, sweetie." Your mother walked over to you who were standing by the sink, rinsing some utensils. "Honey, don't worry, I'll take care of it tonight. You can't leave such a handsome and adorable young man waiting." She winked at you and you rolled your eyes.

"Mom, I barely even kno-" You were about blurt out that the two of you weren't actually friends, but stopped yourself last second. "W-we're just friends!" You shout-whispered as she proceeded to take your place.

"Mhmm, no I'm totally listening." Your mom sarcastically nodded and you let out a silent groan before walking over to Jungkook. He was standing by the table just waiting, looking a little lost.

"I uh.... I'll take you to my room. C'mon." You gently smiled at him and he just followed. Once the two of you entered your room, you realized that he didn't have anything to sleep in and you mentally face palmed yourself. "Oh, I'll get some clothes for you."

You rushed to your own closet and grabbed one of your many oversized t-shirts, then ran to grab a pair of sweatpants from your father's dresser. You returned to your room, only to find him sitting on your couch, looking around your room. Not wanting to get the atmosphere awkward, you quickly walked up to him and handed the clothes over. "I hope they'll be comfortable enough." You smiled widely before you turned to face the door again. "I'll go change in my parents' bedroom while you change here." You added and were about to leave, but he spoke.

"Thank you."

You stopped and slowly turn to look at him. He was looking at you, with eyes full of sadness. Before you could reply, he continued.

"And, I'm sorry." He looked away and eyed the folded clothes in his hands. You instantly smiled upon hearing him finally speaking to you.

"Don't be sorry. I'm so extremely happy that I could help. There's nothing to apologize for."

"No, don't lie." He looked at you again and his words surprised you. "I know that the whole situation must have been hard for you aswell. I've been very lonely lately, and everyone that I like seem to use me and pretend to be my friend, but ultimately they don't give a about me. My parents are barely ever home and they always forget my birthdays and other events. I mean, yeah, who cares about a birthday? But they're my parents, you know? They're supposed to know more about me than I do. I just got really mad and disappointed and deciding to jump was kind of on impulse. It was supposed to be an easy thing that I was just going to do and it would all be over after that. There wasn't going to be that much thought behind it. But as I stood there, I started to shake and tears started coming. Insecurity started building up. And then you showed up, telling me all that stuff. It got hard, I'm not gonna lie. The whole thing was only meant to be me jumping and no one would think about it for very long afterwards, nobody was supposed get involved like this. So, I'm sorry." His voice didn't reveal much emotion, neither did his expression but there was something in his eyes that showed you how human he really was. How sad and miserable he really was. "But.... I'm glad you saved me." He averted his eyes, but you didn't notice the faint pink creeping up on his cheeks.

Without thinking twice, you walked over, kneeled down and quickly gave him a tight hug. He didn't return it since he was too surprised, which you didn't expect him to, and he just let you embrace him. After not too long, you pulled away, consiously not actually giving him a chance to react.

"Don't feel guilty anymore." You simply answered and walked out of the room.

When you came back you were wearing another one of your many oversized t-shirts and a pair of shorts, but were surprised to see Jungkook lying on your couch, eyes closed. You carefully tiptoed over and observed his apparently sleeping face. A faint smile appeared on your lips and you walked over to turn off the ceiling lamp. You had hoped to let him sleep in your bed himself while you took the couch, but that plan seemed to be crushed. Once the room was only lit by a light on your bedside table, your started walking over to lay down in your bed, but something caught your eye. On Jungkook's relaxed, pale face, you thought you could see the hint of a..... smile? Not fully believing your eyes, you snuck a little closer to make sure you weren't going crazy. When your face was close enough to hear him breathing, you saw that he was actually smiling in his sleep. This fascinated you beyond repair, since you'd never seen him smile before, and you ended up just sitting there, staring. But when one of his eyes quickly opened, both of your own widened.

"Didn't anyone teach you it's impolite to stare?" His other eye opened, and he had an amused smirk on his face. You quickly straightened your legs, jumping up to properly stand on your feet. Your cheeks turned red and hot in embarrassment, making him chuckle. His sudden change in attitude made you a little lost and clueless of what to do. It looked like he was finally over his shock. You quickly took a step away as he sat up, ruffling his hair.

"W-well, seeing as you're awake, I can offer you my bed. I'll gladly sleep on my couch. I fall asleep there all the time anyways." You cleared your throat and regained your composure. His smile faded and he wondered a little while, before reluctantly standing up.

"Alright." He simply replied and walked over to lay in your bed. He was too tired and drained of energy to argue against you at that moment. You then layed yourself down on your couch and placed the blanket on yourself, but that's when you remembered. You quickly stood up and checked your phone to see two missed calls and five new messages from Jimin.

jiminipabo: - _____-ah where r u?? u still busy?

jiminipabo: - why aren't u picking up?

jiminipabo: - i'm free now, so if u wanna hang i can

jiminipabo: - r u mad at me? ;( i'm sorry if i upset u

jiminipabo: - r u ok? text me when u get this

You let out a deep sigh and mentally scolded yourself. Obviously you wouldn't have rather hung out with Jimin than help Jungkook out, but Jimin was still your crush  and best friend, so you felt bad for not even answering. You quickly wrote a message saying that you had been busy and that you were sorry. But coming to think of this made you think of something else too.

"Ugh." You unconsiously let out an audible grunt, realizing that you'd just missed the episode of the k-drama that you were following. That you could've done even if Jungkook was at your house.

"Everything fine?" You suddenly heard his voice and looked over.

"Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's nothing." You reassured him and proceeded to put your phone down and lay yourself on the couch again.

"If I'm making you uncomfortable by sleeping in your bed then-"

"Oh no, that's not it! I just missed a few calls from someone. He'll probably hold it against me tomorrow. That's all." You said and tried to give a genuine smile.

"Oh..... okay." He looked up towards the ceiling again. "Well, good night." Your eyes widened a little in surprise before responding.

"Good night."

.......3.......

The next couple of days weren't that different from before. The only difference was that you knew something about Jungkook that literally no one else knew. When he woke up at your house that morning, he had been more talkative with you and the awkwardness had faded a little, but as soon as you got to school, his stoneface returned. The two of you would greet each other every day in school but his unapproachable aura was up again and you didn't want to be annoying, so you stayed a little distance away.

Last period was about to start; biology. Jimin was, per usual, bugging you to join him and Hyeyoung at the movies to watch the newest Star Wars movie. You had considered accepting the offer, since you wanted to see the movie so badly, but still rejected it, not wanting to disturb their obvious date.

"Please, Hyeyoung asked. She'll be disappointed." Jimin begged but you shook your head. He had no idea that he was practically asking you to feel more suffering.

"Jimin, no. I'm not going to give in this time. You two should have some... time alone. Stop asking me now." You looked away, feeling the ache forming in your heart.

"Aish." He ruffled his hair. "Fine."

The bell rang and the two of you, as well as the rest of the class, entered the classroom and took your seats. The teacher arrived almost immediately, and checked which student's were present.

"Choi _____?" He called out and you answered.

"Here."

"Min Mihyun?"

"Here."

"Seo Jaeil?"

"Here."

"Jeon Jungkook?"

......

"Jeon Jungkook?"

When there was no answer, you and a few other students turned your heads to look over at the desk where Jungkook was usually sitting at. He wasn't there. A lump quickly formed in your throat.

"Aish, he's absent again. That happened last week too, right?" The teacher mumbled and you started panicking. Jungkook hadn't missed a single minute of class since he almost took his own life. Was he going to do it again?

"Let's see... Gil Ahra?"

"Here."

"Ji Seoyeon?"

"Here."

"Park Jim-"

"Excuse me!" You stood up in a haste and everyone turned to look at you. Mr. Yong looked at you with raised eyebrows.

"Yes, _____ ssi?"

"Can I use the bathroom? I really need to." Your body was stiff and the pounding in your chest was getting out of control.

"A-alright."

You caught Jimin's questioning glance before quickly getting out of the classroom and running to the stairs that led to the roof. Not taking a single second to catch your breath, you slung the door open and immediately saw Jungkook in front of you. But this time he was sitting on a bench, headphones covering his ears. A huge weight left your shoulders and you bent down, holding your knees and took a few moments to get your breathing regular again. After that you stood up straight and walked over, taking a seat next to him. His eyes were closed and the music in his ears was loud enough for you to hear some of it.

"Annyeong." You tried, but failed.

He didn't even flinch.

"Hello!" You said a little louder this time and his eyes opened. He turned his head and a surprised look fell over his face when he saw you. He removed his headphones.

"Hey." His voice was reluctant. You smiled at him, but he didn't return it. "What are you doing here? Biology just started." He asked, furrowing his eyebrows a little.

"I could ask you the same." Your smile widened and you gave him a questioning look. A huff of air left his nose as he looked away for a little.

"I didn't feel like going to class. That's all." He pursed his lips and your eyes unconsiously narrowed a little. "I-I wasn't going to..." He cut himself off and the both of you looked away. He then cleared his throat. "Now, you answer."

Your gazes met again. You sighed.

"Well, I came here to make a deal with you." You smiled and he frowned.

"A deal?"

"Yes. If I promise to become your friend from now on, you promise to never come up here without letting me know. Deal?" You reached your right hand out to shake his, not giving him a moment to think about it. His frown didn't stay for long, as it was replaced by a smile when he chuckled. Surprisingly to you, his hand took yours and shook it.

"Deal." He let go of your hand and the two of you smiled at each other. "So, what do we do now? Now that we're friends." He had an amused smirk on his face and you scoffed, realizing that he thought of the deal as a little bit of a joke.

"We can start off with going to the movies. I want to see the new Star Wars movie." You decided and his look became questioning.

"Hasn't that guy that you always hang out with already asked you to go?" He asked and it surprised you yet again, that he knew that. He must've overheard Jimin during class. You shrugged.

"Well yeah, but he's going with his girlfriend. I don't wanna interrupt their date." You looked down, trying to hide the sadness you were feeling. But you quickly perked up. "And now that I have a new friend, I should go with you. I'll pay, don't worry." The last part came out before you remembered that his house had looked pretty expensive.

"No, it's okay. I'll pay for my own ticket. It sounds like it could be fun." He shrugged. Seeing his expression slowly turning blank again when he'd looked away, you started panicking.

"B-but we can see another movie if you want. You can choose." You nodded in a haste, but it became more of a shake. He looked over at you and smiled to himself.

"Yah, pabo." He slightly hit your head and you frowned. "I already agreed to see Star Wars, stop worrying so much."

You held your head where he hit you and glared at him, making him laugh a little. It was unusual to see him this way. If he was like this all of the time he'd have plenty of friends. You put your hands down and held back a proud smile, seeing him laugh.

"Okay, we'll go this Saturday." You decided and he nodded. But when you didn't get up to leave for class, he frowned.

"Hey, biology is right now. Remember?" He raised his eyebrows and you smiled.

"Yeah, I know. I think I'll skip. The chapter we're at right now anyway." You shrugged and smiled at him, making him smile back.

.......4.......

After that, you two actually became friends. Or in reality, you made sure of it. Considering that his parents were never home, and he didn't seem to have any friends, in school at least, it wasn't hard to see that he needed someone. Almost anyone. Jungkook would always have this attitude that he really didn't need friends, but you knew he did. You were the only person that had seen him really break when he was up on that roof, and seeing that, there was no way that you'd believe anymore if he said he was 'fine' by himself.

It also became easier for you to keep your mind off of Jimin. Jungkook and you grew closer and it felt right. He would eat lunch with Jimin and you, and even though he never really joined the conversation, you knew that he felt good not having to eat all alone. Jimin asked you if Jungkook didn't like him since Jungkook wouldn't really speak to him, but after a while even he saw that the kid was just lonely and depressed, so he gladly let him hang with the two of you. You also had a reason now for rejecting Jimin's offers of hanging with him and Hyeyoung, which Jimin easily saw through and became frustrated over. But you knew that if he found out about your feelings for him, he'd understand, so you kept going with it.

It was yet again another Friday afternoon. Jimin, Jungkook and you were walking from the cafeteria towards the classroom and were just randomly discussing the new Star Wars movie, since all of you had seen it.

"But why do you like Kylo Ren?" Jimin questioned you and you sighed.

"Because I think they built his characteristics up well. He's just a really good villain." You answered, trying to explain yourself for the hundredth time.

"So it's not just because you think he's hot or handsome?" Jimin teased you and you hit the side of his arm.

"Aish, you pabo."

"Haha, it's just funny how enthusiastic you are about the whole thing." He smiled, making your heart flutter. You looked away, rolling your eyes before realizing Jungkook's presence. He was always quiet when Jimin and you were talking, so it was easy to forget about him.

"Yah, Jungkook-ah." You said, thinking that he was caught in some sort of daze, but it turned out that he was fully present and had heard your conversation entirely.

"Mmh?" He hummed in response and you smiled.

"What do you think about Kylo Ren?"

He chuckled at your question but didn't want to make you mad, so he responded.

"I agree with you. He's a good character and I look forward to seeing him in the next movies." He looked over at Jimin, and so did you, smiling proudly.

"Okay fine, fine. I'm wrong, you're right. Geez." He held his hands up in front of him but you pulled them down, interrupting his teasing.

He chuckled a little and the three of you kept walking until he broke the silence.

"Hyeyoung is coming over to my house today. We're going to have a movie night and she really wanted me to ask you to join, since she hasn't seen you in a while, _____-ah."

You sighed and glanced at Jungkook, about to use him as an excuse, but Jimin caught you.

"Jungkook can join!" He exclaimed and you looked at him in surprise. "Jungkook, what do you say?" Both you and Jimin looked over at the quiet boy. He cleared his throat, slightly taken aback from the sudden offer.

"Yeah, sure. I have nothing planned." He replied, his stoneface softening a little. You wanted him to save you from having to be around Hyeyoung, but he didn't know about the situation, so how was he going to help?

"Great, that settles it. You two can come over at five o'clock. That'll give us time to prepare snacks and stuff." Jimin's smile was filled with triumph, as you held back a glare, not wanting to give your acts of avoidance away.

"Yeah, that'll work." You answered, trying to act happy and gave a smile.

You proceeded to enter the classroom and take your seats next to each other, waiting for your teacher to arrive. Gosh, this was going to be a hard evening for your heart.

.......5.......

You were sat in your kitchen, scanning through your Instagram feed and patiently waited for Jungkook to come by so the two of you could walk to Jimin's place together. After school, he wanted to stop by his own house to change into something more comfortable, so you took the opportunity to do the same. Now, in your baggy jeans, oversized OBEY t-shirt and fuzzy, gray socks, you were ready to leave. The doorbell rang and you stood up in a haste, practically flying to the door. You swung the door open with a smile, but your smile faded when your eyes locked on the boy in front of you.

"Annyeong." Jungkook greeted with an unusually wide smile. He was wearing a black t-shirt with a deep and wide v-neck. The dark strands of hair forming his bangs were wet, sticking together from the rain that was apparently pouring. Drops of water were swimming down his face, neck and collarbones. You felt numb. You knew that he was handsome and what people would call 'hot', but it had never hit you like it did this time, even though you'd been friends for a while.

When you didn't greet him back, only staring at him silently, his cheeks went a little bit pink, barely noticably, and he didn't really know what to do. He coughed a little, averting his eyes, successfully snapping you out of your daze.

"O-oh... Annyeong!" You quickly plastered a panicked smile on your face, but it probably looked as fake as it was. You could feel your cheeks growing hot and probably turning a deep shade of red. You mentally scolded yourself for acting stupid like that. "C-come in. You're drenched." You stepped aside, letting him walk into the hallway and take his shoes and jacket off. It was only 4:23, so the two of you didn't have to leave quite yet.

"I'll just go get myself a glass of water." He announced before walking into the kitchen. By now, he was very familiar with your house. He had slept at your place a bunch of times, since you often invited him, feeling too bad to leave him at his own home by himself. Since the two of you got to know each other, his dad had only visited once, for a few hours, before leaving on his next business trip. His mother was still away. Your own mother didn't know about Jungkook's situation but seemed to be more than happy to let him stay over. She honestly believed that the two of you were secretly dating, which you thought was insane.

You watched him drink a glass of water, noticing his gray sweatpants, also full of damp spots, hanging low on his hips. You wanted to scold him for not bringing an umbrella, but you knew he would find some clever retort, so you just kept quiet. He put the now empty glass down on the counter and turned to you.

"So, why don't you want to go there?" He questioned, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Huh? Where?"

"To Jimin's place. Why don't want to join the movie night?"

You tilted your head while looking at him, trying to remember if you'd told him that, which you hadn't.

"What do you mean? I wan-"

"Oh, come on. It doesn't take a genius to see that you don't really want to go." He walked over to you. "You've listened to enough of my bullcrap, so I can take a few moments to listen to yours." He gave a small smile. Jungkook didn't often show how he cared for you. He would from time to time like to tease you, but he was just pretty quiet most of the time. You were usually the one that talked the most and always the one that made plans for you two. Jungkook didn't ever give his opinion on what to do, he just tagged along, as if he didn't know any other way to go about it. Even though Jungkook distracted you from Jimin, that wasn't why he was your friend. You truly did care for him, even if he didn't care for you in the same way, or at least he didn't really show it that much. But you knew that he at least cared for you a little, by the way he held you when you were scared during a scary movie, by the way he'd make sure you weren't hurt when you only slipped a little, by the way he asked you if you'd eaten your breakfast every morning, and also by this moment. You couldn't help but smile back.

"It's okay, Jungkook. I'm just not that fond of his girlfriend, that's all." You felt your body get warmer of the feeling of someone worrying about you. Of him worrying about you.

"If you say so." He sighed.

You checked the time on your phone, seeing it was now 4:36. Where did the time go? "Jungkook, we should leave now." You announced and both of you walked out of the kitchen. You put your shoes and jackets on, and you did not forget to grab an umbrella, before exiting the empty house and starting to walk along the sidewalk in the still pouring rain. You held the umbrella up as well as you could, but it lightly hit the top of his head, making him flinch. He chuckled a little before taking the umbrella out of your hand.

"You shorty." He said, lifting his arm to hold it himself. You scoffed and turned your gaze away.

"I'd rather be too short than too tall though." You retorted, only wanting to sound clever.

"Really? Why?"

"The best athletes are usually short." You came up with something to say, only to realize afterwards that it wasn't relevant to you at all.

"What? But you hate sports." He questioned. Even though you were a tomboy, considering your style in clothing and some of your hobbies, you were not born to be an athlete. At all. You hated sports with a passion.

"W-well-"

Suddenly, a heavy splash of water flew over you when a car drove past you on the street, and since you were the one walking closest to it, you got all of the water on you. You stopped dead in your tracks, feeling your clothes getting wet all the way through and your hair also soaked as if you had just come out of the shower. There were only a few seconds of silence before Jungkook burst into a fit of laughter, clutching his stomach and almost falling to the ground. You finally managed to open your eyes and gave him a dangerous glare.

"Th-thanks for the c-cover!" He managed to get out before starting to hysterically laugh again.

You snorted in disbelief before spotting a puddle on the ground in front of you. You quickly walked into the puddle and started kicking the water towards him, making it reach all the way up to his head. His laughing was silenced as his face flinched away and it was your turn to laugh. You kept kicking the water at him, making his sweatpants soaked.

"Aish, you little-" He dropped the umbrella before stepping into another puddle next to him and he started to attack you with water too. The two of you were in a serious water fight, even though it was raining, and you could tell that he wasn't going to let you win. But after a while he slipped and landed on his , right in the puddle. At first you laughed, but when you noticed the slight look of pain on his face you walked over and stretched your hand out to him, wanting to help him up. He took a hold of your hand, but the smirk that appeared on his lips managed to only worry you for a split second, before he pulled you down into the puddle next to him.

At this point, both of you were laughing. He held you down to lay in the water and soon he was hovering above you. But when both of you realized in what position you were in, you quickly stood up. There were a few moments of awkward nape scratching and throat clearing before you remembered why the two of you were outside in the first place.

"Oh . Jimin!" You exclaimed and the two of you started walking again, completely forgetting about the umbrella, which was useless now anyways.

"What the hell happened to you?" Jimin stared at you two in disbelief when he opened the door. "I know it's raining but damn. Even your pants are completely soaked." He shook his head and you pursed your lips.

"Aish, there was this car and then he laughed and I got mad and- Ahh, screw it. Let us in." You whined, feeling your body shiver as you were still out in the rain.

"Okay fine, but you'll have to change." Jimin finally let you in.

"Oh, annyeong." Hyeyoung suddenly appeared and happily greeted you. You felt your heart sink at the sight of her, but shrugged it away, greeting her back.

"Annyeong." You weakly smiled and Jungkook nodded his head instead of saying anything.

"Hey, _____ can borrow some of your clothes that you left here before, right?" Jimin asked Hyeyoung, and you felt angry at his words. Why had she left clothes at Jimin's house? In reality, you didn't want to know.

"Oh, of course." She smiled.

"Great. Jungkook, follow me." Jimin said and the two guys disappeared up the stairs to go into Jimin's room probably. You eyed Hyeyoung as she took your wrist and led you to the living room. She grabbed a white sweater and a pair of light pink yoga pants from the computer room, before motioning you to come in there with her.

"Here you go. They're really comfortable. Don't worry." She handed you the clothes. You expected her to leave the room so you could change by yourself, but remembered that she was probably trying to treat you like one of her 'girlfriends', and you already knew that friends weren't embarrassed to change with each other present.

As you awkwardly changed in front of her, she attempted to start a conversation.

"So, how have you been?" She asked and you pulled the sweater over your head.

"Fine." You answered simply and pulled your wet jeans off.

"You met Jungkook since I last saw you. Is he a friend?"

"Yeah, he's my second best friend... after Jimin." You swallowed the lump in your throat at the feeling of calling your crush a friend in front of his girlfriend. You pulled the pants on and was now done changing. But suddenly, Hyeyoung's expression turned sad.

"Listen, ___-"

"Hey, where are you guys?" Jimin's voice was heard from the living room, behind the door and Hyeyoung sighed before standing up and opening the door.

"We're here." She said as the two of you entered the living room. Jimin and Jungkook were standing there and Hyeyoung walked over to Jimin, discussing movies that the four of you could watch. You noticed that Jungkook was now wearing red sweatpants but he had kept the shirt. The shirt with the deep and wide v-neck. The shirt that made you gulp with guilt. He was also staring at you, probably since you looked weird in girly clothes. He then looked away, plastered a smirk on his face and looked back.

"Yah, it's weird to see you in girly clothes. I can't recognize you." He complained and you stood in front of him with a questioning look.

"I know, but at least they're dry. Are you trying to catch a cold? Why didn't you change your shirt?" You scolded him.

"I dunno. Didn't feel like it." He shrugged. You gave him a deep frown.

"Weirdo."

"Okay, we've decided on what movie to watch." Jimin announced. "Jagi, do you wanna fix the snacks in the kitchen while I set the movie up?" He asked, smiling cutely towards Hyeyoung. The pet name he gave her made it feel like a stab through the heart for you, and it took a bit of power to hide it. Hyeyoung pulled away from him.

"Sure." She walked to you. "_____, join me." She grabbed your wrist and pulled you with her before you could respond.

The two of you entered the kitchen and you quickly spotted the chips and cookies on the counter. Hyeyoung grabbed two bowls and started opening one bag of chips as you took another one.

"So, how do you feel about scary movies?" She asked and you shrugged.

"They're alright. I like the thrill.... even if they do scare me."

She chuckled.

"Well, I hope you don't find it too difficult to sleep tonight then, since we're watching one." She announced and you shrugged again.

"I'll be fine."

The conversation died down before a heavy sigh left Hyeyoung's lips.

"_____, do you like Jimin?"

Your eyes widened and your heart stopped. What? Why was she asking you this? You looked over at her and she was looking at you with a worried expression.

"O-of course I like him. He's my best friend."

"No, I mean, do you like like him?"

You didn't answer. How did she know? Where did this come from?

"Actually, I already know that you... do... right?"

You felt your face heat up in both panic and embarrassment. There wasn't a single soul that you had told that to, so how'd she know?

"Don't worry, I'm not mad. I'm worried. And I feel guilty. I could see that you liked him as more than a friend from the first time I met you. It was just the way you looked at him. And how you avoided me only comfirmed it. You've known Jimin for longer than I have, so you probably hate me for coming in between you two and I'm sorry." She suddenly hugged you while your were just standing there in shock. She then pulled away and held you by your shoulders, looking into your eyes. "But I still won't leave him for you. I love Jimin, and I can't do that."

You were surprised by her words but slowly registered what she was saying.

"I-I know. I don't want that anyway. I want him to be happy." Suddenly you felt like crying.

"I know you do. You're a good person, and even if you probably don't think so, I am too. One sided love is a hard thing to go through, especially when you're on the wrong side. Trust me, I know. I've been there. It hurts a lot. But I didn't have anyone to talk to about it, and ever since I met you I wanted to be that someone to you. I want you to feel comfortable talking to me about your feelings, it won't be weird. I'll comfort you in any way I can. I want to be like an older sister to you. I know that Jungkook might distract you from it well, but it may end up not being enough. I can see that you don't feel comfortable talking to him about your situation, you have him around to make you happy. But sometimes you just need to let it all out, and I want to be here for you when that happens." She leaned in and hugged you again. "Please, _____. Let me help you."

"Okay." Your hatred for her faded in a second. She did really care for you, even though you'd done nothing to deserve her concern. She was a good person, now you felt like you could finally accept the situation. "But Jungkook isn't just a distraction, he really is my best friend after Jimin."

"I know, I'm sorry. I should have expressed myself differently. He cares for you too, I can see it." Hyeyoung gave you an unknown smile, and you couldn't quite read what it meant. She then handed you a box cookies and grabbed the two bowls of chips herself. "C'mon." She started walking to the living room, you following closely behind her.

Jimin and Jungkook were sitting on the couch, waiting patiently.

"Ahh, finally we can start." Jimin said as Hyeyoung sat down next to him and you sat next to Jungkook.

"Yah, you're gonna get the couch wet with you
