Foreword

"Chanyeol ah,  your mum, your sister and I are going out for dinner at West Mall. You coming?" Chanyeol's father called him.

"Uh. Okay, can you pick me up at school?" Chanyeol put down his pen and replied his father. In his surroundings, there was Sehun listening to Chanyeol's conversation and Leia biting the tip of her pen.

"Can't you just take the bus down, it's only a few stops."

"I'll meet you in front of the school gate, thanks dad." Chanyeol stuck his phone in between his right ear and right shoulder, picked up his pens and neatly placed them into his pencil case. Both Sehun and Leia looked at Chanyeol, only to see him packing his things. "What's up?" Sehun whispered.

"Chan -," Chanyeol father thought that he shouldn't continue to pamper his son, "okay fine. Be there in 5 minutes." Stubborn Chanyeol wins the argument.

"Awesome." Chanyeol said. He stacked all the papers and neatly placed them into his blue file that he brought along with him all the time, and placed the file along with his pencil case in his bag.

"Sorry guys, food before anything else. Catch up tomorrow!" Chanyeol smiled at Sehun and Leia. They planned to study together for days, but seems like this study day have to end early.

"Well you know, you still owe Sehun and I drinks. Of course we got to catch up tomorrow." Leia laughed.

"Yeah yeah I know. Be good and don't display your affection here," Chanyeol wriggled his pointer finger, and wriggled his eyebrows at the same time," And please do this project. It's 30% of our grades." Leia rolled her eyes at Chanyeol's nagging, and purposely kissed Sehun's cheek.

"Bye!" Chanyeol walked off to the bus stop. He thought of the food that he might want to eat later, sushi.. Chinese food? Or steak. When it comes to such things, he finds it hard to decide. He had walked off from today's study session so easily, just because a girl he liked wasn't there. Chanyeol would do all sorts of doings in order to meet Haeun, provided if these doings can be done with his amount of authority. When it comes to this girl, there wasn't anything that he wouldn't do for her. Chanyeol would talk to her, but he never really gotten the chance to get to know her better.

Every now and then, Chanyeol would see Haeun just miles away. And Chanyeol would just be satisfied with that. To see her smile from ear to ear was what he lived for. To see people laugh and smile because of what he did, was the best thing he can ever imagine.

It was already more than 5 minutes, but his dad have not come to pick him up. He thought they got caught up in a jam or an accident. He just shook those thoughts off.

At this very moment, Chanyeol looked up the sky and the moon shone in his eyes and there is Haeun, standing 10 metres away from him. His heart beats fast, but his train of thoughts got disrupted by the vibration of his phone. Dad.

"Chanyeol, are you at your school gate already? I'm coming."

"Yes dad."

"Okay turning in -" It was followed by violent crashes and loud bangs from the phone. Then ahead of him, he saw with his very own eyes, how his family car was flipped over, his sister in the car trying to grab the handle of the car. Glasses shattering sounds and car screeching sounds were the worse things that Chanyeol heard that day. He looked over to Haeun and looked back at the car crash. That realization dawned on him, his family is going to die.

He dropped his phone and bag and ran towards the car accident.

"Dad! Dad! No. Stay awake dad, please," Chanyeol carried his father's head, "Anyone! Help! Please!" Chanyeol began to sob and cry like nobody's business. There was Haeun running to the scene, and started to call the ambulance. He thought of all those times he quarreled with his father over the simplest things. He thought of how his father taught him how to drive a yacht. He thought of the guy to guy talk that he had with his father, how he told him about Haeun. He remembered clearly that his father told him to go for Haeun, because she seems decent.

"Mum! Mum, mum wake up. Don't sleep! Eun-ah! Eun!" Chanyeol tried to wake them up. He tried to push over the car so that he can pull them out of the car but he was crying and blaming himself at the same time. He didn't have the energy to do anything. He thought of his mother pouring love on him when he was sick, how his mother always prepare his breakfast even when she is sick herself. He thought of the days he'd shout at his mother just because he was going through puberty. He thought of the days he used to play with Eun, how he would of her high school crush, how she'd bake cookies and always baked extra just for him.

"Dad.. mum.. Eun.. Please live, i beg you, please." He thought that if he didn't asked his father to fetch him from school, this wouldn't happen. Chanyeol blamed himself and all he can do now is beg for them to stay alive, all he can do is cry in pain and wait hopelessly.

No more fighting, no more heart to heart conversations, no more baked cookies, no more well done breakfast, no more warm family dinners.

He thought of how he never once said to them that he love them.

The moon was as bright as ever, stars were hanging on the sky, but there were three stars that were fading away, and then it faded completely. Just like how his family's lives were hanging on the sky, wondrous but vulnerable.
