[CONTENTID2] A MINO X IRENE ONE SHOT[/CONTENTID2]
[CONTENTID3]
Irene snuggled her petite frame closer to the warmth next to her. With a smile plastered on her face, the belated birthday girl refused to open her eyes and surrender to the new day. Ah, how she wished she had the ability to stop time. It was her birthday last night, and her boyfriend, Mino was sweet enough to celebrate her birthday in a hotel’s presidential suite.
As she finally opened her eyes, the memory of the previous night replayed in her mind. The scene where Mino surprised her with a room of floating balloons and cake made her smile even more, if it was even possible. They had so much fun the night before, from having a romantic candle-lit dinner to dancing in the midst of Seoul’s night-view. Irene’s trail of thought began to slow down when she reached the memory of the night's near end where they made sweet lo-
“Ah, silly, what was I thinking of?” Irene squirmed and shook her head. She felt the heat rise to her cheeks and silently hoped that her boyfriend wouldn't be woken up by her movement. Unfortunately, by the way he let out a soft groan, Irene knew that the beast had, in fact, woken up.
“Good morning, sweetheart.” Irene sings to the love of her life, who was stretching hmself from his morning drowsiness. From his flexing arms down to his abdominal muscles, Irene couldn't help but stare at Mino. The thought of greeting him first thing in the morning for his birthday internally made Irene jump for joy. She leaned over for a kiss, but Mino dodged it by leaning against the headboard and looking outside through the glass windows. Irene drew herself back and pouted when he didn't spare her even a mere glance.
“Hmm? What’s wrong baby?” Irene asked with concern while brushing strands of hair off of Mino’s forehead. She became even more anxious when she found Mino's eyebrows knit together. "Are you not feeling well?" Irene tried her luck again, but he only responded by shaking his head, his eyes still stuck to the view outside the window.
After a long moment of uncomfortable silence that felt like hours to Irene, Mino let out a deep sigh and combed his fingers through his hair. When he began to speak, Irene moved on the bed a considerable distance away from him. She knew that something was up whenever Mino acted this way, but she was annoyed that it happened out of nowhere, especially when the night had ended so well.
“I don’t get it, Irene.” The man's deep voice rang around the room and struck Irene right at the heart.
I don’t get it either, Mino.
“What is it Mino? You’re acting weird.” Irene sensed the heavy atmosphere and spoke in her softest possible tone. After having dated Mino for over two years, Irene knew better than anyone that Mino wouldn’t like it if she were to raise her voice in an argument. She cared about Mino and didn’t want to upset him, but she was taken aback by Mino's reply.
“I don’t deserve this.”
The moment Mino spoke those words, Irene's face became contorted to a frown, clearly showing her displeasure in where their conversation was going. What do you mean? I don’t deserve this either Mino. Irene's temper rose and she wanted to yell at her lover, but decided to tolerate him a little more. After all, it was his birthday. Nobody wants such a pleasant day meant for celebrating to start with a fight.
“Mino, why are you acting like this? We were fine last night.” Irene placed her hands gently on his sides, but her patience faltered and she quickly became furious when Mino brushed her off.
“Ugh, can’t you just hear what I have to say?”
“I was asking you what was wrong and now you’re telling me to hear you off as if I wasn't trying to talk to you? Song Mino, are you some kind of goddamn teenage girl suffering of PMS?” Irene was getting tired as Mino refused to reply to her and instead make it sound like he was a victim.
"I don't deserve this, Irene." Mino repeated as he buried his hands into his palms. They both remained static.
"What is it you don't deserve? What is it, Mino? You've been so unreasonable literally since you woke up!" Irene was on the verge of tears and as she motioned to leave when Mino quickly grabbed her by the arm. Irene turned back around and her eyes met with Mino's. Without sparing another moment, Mino finally decided to confess his thoughts.
"I don't deserve to be loved by someone like you. Especially you." Unlike before, Mino's words and eyes were soft. However it only made Irene to turn even more confused than she was.
"What are you talking about?" Irene's sparkling eyes stared back at him, and she tried to hold her thoughts back but she couldn't help but to think of terrible possibilities of what Mino could say next.
"You're perfect Irene, and what am I? I don't own any businesses, not a even a house. I had to save up for weeks just to book this place for us, but you always say that you don't care, when you do. You didn't mind that I drive a small car. Joo Hyun-ah, you're what everyone envies and wants. I don't deserve a gift from heaven. I don't deserve someone like you. It's our birth
