It was a breezy May afternoon and 20 year-old Lee Nari looked at herself in the mirror placed at her building’s hall checking if she looked okay. She took extra time that afternoon to get ready, she wanted to look good, to impress. The girl had purposely gone to sleep the night before with several braids on her hair just so she could get the perfect waves. She had also put on different face masks and lotions to perfect the silky skin she was so proud of.

Not being much into make up she had used mascara, and a rosy lip tint. Looking at her black high wasted long skirt which just let her black and red Jordans visible, she overly checked it just in case it wasn’t properly ironed. She sighed tucking the simple white shirt into the skirt and left the mirror to exit the building while rolling up her jean jacket’s sleeves.

Nari had the right to be nervous. Today was the day, her calendar had today marked as the D-Day. It had been exactly 100 days since she had last seen him. They had settled up this date 100 days ago, and after to what Nari seemed like an eternity, the day had already arrived.

February 2nd would forever be remembered to Nari. She knew things with her boyfriend weren’t going smoothly. It affected her in every way, Nari had spent the last two years giving her all to the boy. Maybe she was too naïve because this was her first serious relationship. Did she not get the true meaning of a relationship? Was on the other side, this his fault? Was he the one to not appreciate her good enough? Those questions had been eating Nari’s mind for the past month and even her behaviour had started to become weird. He noticed, he asked.

“Did I do anything wrong?” he softly asked not wanting the whole coffee shop to know about the situation.

She frowned and kept fidgeting her fingers as they touched her still untouched cup. “Are you tired of me?” she questioned not brave enough to look at him in the eyes.

The milky skinned boy dropped the little chocolate he was playing with which came with the coffee. Had he heard properly? “What are you saying Nari?”

Lee Nari and Min Yoongi met at college, the both of them being first year students. Nari fell head over heels for the boy ever since they were introduced by a mutual friend. It was his small eyes which smiled when he smiled cutely, it was his Daegu accent, his love for photography and hip-hop, the way he was so passionate about the things he loved and supported. She couldn’t help but swoon over his everything.

Nari had told her best friend Eunmi that very first day they met that she would eventually make him her boyfriend no matter what. Eunmi laughed because she knew how whenever Nari wanted something to happen, she achieved it, and a month later she laughed even harder when Nari and Yoongi arrived to the campus hand in hand.

“I just wondered if we both feel the same towards the other?” she said finally looking at his small droopy eyes.

Yoongi couldn’t help but laugh and look at his side, wherever he could just to avoid her eyes. Nari’s expression changed at his reaction. “Are you laughing at me?” she questioned as angry as she felt.

“What the Nari?” Yoongi replied in all seriousness. “Do you think I like my girlfriend asking me if I love her?”

Nari brought her hands to her chest as if to feel her heart. “Well, do you think I like feeling like I’m the only person in this relationship?”

Yoongi arched a brow at her confession. “Is this because I’ve spent a few weekends in Daegu? Yah, I have a family to visit.” he defended himself not being able to help using his satoori, he was starting to feel nervous.

“That’s not what I said.” Nari replied feeling slightly offended. Sure, she was a clingy girlfriend, but she wouldn’t stop Yoongi from visiting his family, the kid adored his hometown. “You’ve just been distant lately, we don’t even hang out alone anymore.”

It was true. The couple were the kind to enjoy just each other’s presence. They spent the first year of their relationship going on constant dates, they felt extremely comfortable with each other. It went to the point that she even had a toothbrush of her own at his apartment. Their relationship was no joke and the past month they had started acting weirdly towards the other. Even their group of friends had noticed, asking Nari if there was something wrong, not feeling like distant Yoongi would answer them. Nari just shrugged it off by saying that the exams had worn them out.

“I don’t know Nari.” Yoongi sighed. He was already tired of this conversation. Lately, he had been tired of everything. “I’m just having a weird phase, I don’t- I don’t see me anywhere.”

Nari then sat back looking forward to hear what else had he been hiding inside of him. “What do you mean? What’s wrong?”

“I feel tired, I wake up tired, I don’t even know if any of the things I do are worth it- worth my time?” he said, his voice suddenly shaky, he had never opened up about that. “Should I study photography just because I like taking photos? Should I give up on everything and try doing something with my music? Life is so short Nari, have you ever stopped and thought about that?” he continued to say, his expression showed just how difficult it felt to spit out the thoughts that had stopped him from properly sleeping the past weeks.

Nari felt hurt at her boyfriend’s feelings, she was one to feel the pain her close people felt. She couldn’t even stand the mere thought of Yoongi, her Yoongi, feeling as bad as he had explained.  Nari would move a mountain for him, and knowing she couldn’t help him made her weak. She also felt hurt because he hadn’t told her about it. Was she also one of the things he doubted about?

She took a deep breath and let silence fill the conversation for a few seconds. She wanted to think about every word she had heard. Was that the reason why he had gone to Daegu so constantly? Was he thinking of leaving Seoul and moving back to his hometown? Would that also mean them break
