Lonely Sonata

Description

Jung Eunji and Son Naeun. Two different people with a similiar story. What will happen when their fate crosses path? Will their final year of high school be a memorable one?

Foreword

"We're over, Eunji."

Those three words kept replaying in my mind like a broken recorder. What did I do wrong that things turned out this way? I did ask her but she gave me no replies at all. Last night's memory was still fresh in my mind and my heart ached whenever I thought about it. I've been nothing but good to her but why did our story have to end like this? She is my first love and the thought of breaking up never entered my mind until the day before. Was I just another fling to her? But... she promised me that she had changed. Was it all a lie then? Was I just another toy for her to play with and throw away once she gets bored of it? The thought of it made me angry but it would be a lie that I don't love her anymore.

"Why do you enjoy leaving me hanging?" I muttered to myself.

"Jung Eunji!"

I felt a sharp sting on my hand and immediately hissed as the pain could be felt through my whole body. I retracted my hand away from the table and looked up only to see my homeroom teacher glaring at me.

"Are your thoughts that interesting you're not even listening to whatever I'm saying, Miss Jung?" Mrs. Kim gritted her teeth as she spoke to me.

"I'm really sorry, Mrs. Kim. I won't daydream again," I apologised half-heartedly without making any eye contact with her.

I wasn't usually like this in class but my mind just could not forget about her. Everything in my mind was about her, her and her again. I was deeply in love with her. That's a fact and I could not seem to accept the fact that we had broken up. It was like a dream, no, a nightmare to me. It was still hard for me to face reality.

"Anyway, Miss Jung. A new student will be arriving soon and she'll be sitting next to you since that's the only empty seat in this class. Be nice to her as you'll be her partner throughout the whole year," Mrs. Kim said in a displeased tone before walking back to her table.

I rolled my eyes as she faced her back towards me and folded my arms, getting immersed back into my thoughts. A new student huh? For my whole two years of high school, I never did have a seatmate before since the class had an odd number of people. The teachers thought I was fine by myself since I did not need anyone to help me in my studies. I'm not bragging or anything but I was capable of passing all the subjects without any problem.

The door to the class opened and my train of thoughts immediately stopped as I was really curious who my seatmate would be. Will he/she be nice? Will I be able to get along with him/her? Just the thought of getting along with my new partner makes me nervous since I never had one to start with. Although I was known as a social butterfly in this school since I can start a conversation with almost anybody, the only people I was really close to was my best friend, Bomi and my cousin, Namjoo. The three of us are inseparable and we are known as the three musketeers in the school. I found it ridiculous but I can't blame the other students for coming up with that. I'm not even surprised if there is a fanclub for us.

As soon as the new student entered the class, all the boys were whistling and the girls were whispering to one another. As for me, I couldn't seem to get my eyes off her. She looked really innocent and fragile that I felt the need to protect her. No, I wasn't attracted to her or was this a love at first sight thing but this feeling was something I could not seem to understand. When her eyes met with mine, I could not seem to look away. There was just something behind those eyes that I felt the need to know her better. There was just something about her that makes me drawn to her.

"Class, this is Son Naeun. She recently moved back to Korea after living in the States for three years. Please take care of her and make her feel welcomed alright?" Mrs. Kim said in a lively tone which made me snorted.

Son Naeun, I muttered under my breath. What a nice name for a beautiful girl. I guess my last year of high school wouldn't be that bad after all.

A/N: Someone should really stop me from writing more stories.
