A head had just hit the plush pillows tossed about the bed when the first tones went off. A groan left cracked lips, as the handheld sitting in its charger let out a low, long, continuous tone, followed by three high pitch ones. Standing up, Chanyeol was already pulling on his jeans that he had previously taken off, before the 9-1-1 operator came through in that same, monotonic voice.

He heard the sound of the wood smacking against the ice, before he saw the open passing lane. It was a clear indicator his left wing wanted the puck, and Chanyeol would gladly pass it to him. Working the black rubber against his stick, the centreman easily elevated it into a clean saucer pass, the puck connecting with his left winger’s stick. They were on the rush, a 2-on-1. The defense had no chance, as that one pass easily

The snow fell steadily as Chanyeol sat in front of the warming fire, a glass of scotch in his hand, the ice slowly melting. He was waiting.
