I had never known him without a smile on his face. His constant beaming smile was one of the things that made him so appealing. It didn’t matter where he was, or what misfortune he was experiencing; he always smiled. I could barely remember a time when he wasn’t.  In fact, in only one single instance of my memory of him wa
